Our Official Slimming Club Thread - open to everyone

Very awesome

And I agree, it’s common sense. I don’t exercise either, but I can lose weight when I concentrate on eating healthier and simple portion control.

I could probably lose more if I didn’t drink so damn much.

Dead right, Linda.

I knew when I started this little ā€˜project’ that I would have to cut out the demon drink - at least for a while.

It’s not just the calories in the stuff itself -
it’s the fact that after a few, one doesn’t give a rat’s
and all those cheesy, fatty, spicy things are irresistible.

Well, that’s me anyway.

Well, since I plan all of my meals, I’m able to stick with the foods I’ve logged for the day, even after I’ve had a few drinks. But it’s the drinks themselves that are doing me no good because I cut calories in food in order to compensate for the calories I drink in alcohol.

I suspect that a nutritionist might question the wisdom of that but hey, whatever works !

I eat more when losing weight, don’t even think about quantity or portions.
Pick at plums, grapes, apricots, cherries, grapes. watermelon, pineapple, pomegranates, peaches, nectarines, lychees, papaya, rockmelon etc etc
all day long

and then one substantial meat meal at night with heaps of vegetables, greens, carrots, etc etc - or salad.
No fatty stuff though.

Whatever works for the individual.

Well, you’re right, when it comes to the alcohol, I’m a nutritionist’s nightmare.

I’ve always wanted to try lychee fruit!!! But I can’t find it anywhere here. Not even in Asian markets.

Today we are having Omelette and Homemade Oven chips.

I don’t drink, so I cannot blame my weight on to booze.
I find it very hard to cut down on food when I have a Husband who needs feeding all the time.
Its ok saying eat loads of fruit Pumicestone, but when you are a bad Diabetic you cannot eat the fruit, I am only aloud to eat an Apple or Pear a day.

I don’t eat fruit either. Mostly because I don’t like it much. Now, when it comes to veggies, I can eat tons. And I usually do. But fruit you can keep.

I love fruit, just can’t eat it, sugar levels go up really high.

Hey, Dr.Pum was not suggesting a plan for all - or even for anyone else.

I merely said what worked - for me.

I fully understand if others cannot do that because of other conditions or even if they choose not to - for whatever reason.

We understand that. We were just commenting. We need some new conversation around here, LOL

Today’s lunch is vegetarian. Baked zucchini (courgette) sticks and a small bowl of mashed potatoes. I can’t finish it, though. Not feeling well. Think I’m catching a cold.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Today we had Plain white fish with boiled potatoes, cauliflower cheese and peas.

Quite boring.

Don’t you use any seasoning on the fish? That would perk it up a bit. All the veggies sound good.

A bit of lemon and Parsley.

Well that doesn’t sound too bad

I love fish.

I’m not really a Fish eater, especially when it comes from a Supermarket like mine did, we don’t have any Fishmongers around here and we don’t live near the Beach.

Today its homemade Chicken Curry and Rice.

I can walk across the foreshore to the beach and very rarely come back without at least one meal of fish -

from swimming to pan within an hour is fairly normal.

You are very lucky Pumicestone, I wish I could, if I lived in Devon or Cornwall, I would eat the Fish, but all I have here is Pollution from Cars, Vans, Buses etc.

My kids were raised on spot-on fresh fish (and crabs and prawns and squid etc).

In their twenties, they now live in the city and cannot believe the crap on offer at supermarkets etc (or the prices).

On their rare visits home, I ensure they leave well-stocked from my freezer - even that is far better than shop stuff.

Braised Beef for dinner today.

Every year we go to Devon for holiday and I always have fresh crab sandwich.
