thanks Linda–i will have another look next week for the egg whites-I think i may have to ask-quite a few refigrated spaces in sainsburys.
This week is a crazy week for me—everything up and down, including my washing machine going wrong yesterday and completely flooding my kitchen–waiyting for a neighbour to look at it, but i think it is beyond repair—and i have had it about 25 years–but i will not be in a position to get another ne till christmas !!!|So not feeling very happy about that !! i swear, if id had a box of cholates at home–i would have eaten the whole box !!!
Tesco sell Dr.Oetker Egg White Powder Multipack Sach4x5g, and other, if that’s any help …
thanks–but i cannot get to a tesco…
Oh, yuk, the washing machine dilemma doesn’t sound good at all. Could you maybe get one on credit and just make payments on it? Or look in area classifieds to see if anyone is selling one cheap.
And I hear ya about the chocolates, only for me it probably would have been a run to McDonald’s
Today I’m indulging in something I’ve been craving for a while now - fried fish. Bought some nice catfish fillets yesterday, as well as a pound of colossal shrimp (these things are huge) and breaded and fried 2 of the fillets and 4 of the shrimp, as well as 4 big rings of onion and I’m also having 1/2 cup of German potato salad. It’s only a little past lunchtime and I’ve already blown 3/4 of my calories for the day
Oh well. Need to indulge once in a while, otherwise what’s the point of life?
Ive not posted in here for a very long time , but i thought I would let you in on my weight loss , not sure how its happened it could be im doing more walking than before ,but since my last post way back when , ive lost 5LB, mostly i think a round my waist, cause slacks seem to drop down like a builders .
I still eat a cream cake now and then and just a bar of choc once in a blue moon ,im hoping it will stay off and not return when winter arrives .
I think i may go for a walk now , cause ive just enjoyed a cantanese …
Hope you all have lost more than me and carry on the good work .
Very nice, Eliza. I know what you mean about winter. It’s definitely the season for comfort food. Plus the holidays and that sort of thing and your body seems to want to hold onto the fat to stay warm. Winter is hard on people trying to lose weight. Shivering burns calories, though. Maybe we should go stand out in the freezing cold for a half hour every day, haha.
:-)Do we burn calories when we laugh a lot Linda , cause i do a lot of that ,and have often felt exhausted when ive had a good belly laugh .
Not a lot, but it does burn some!
Well done Eliza—just a little makes a difference–and I bet you feel stronger with that walking–i know i do–I walk loads now, and my legs feel so much stronger.
mmm love fried fish—it all sounds rather delicious—I think a treat once in a while does not do too much damage.
What’s life without treats?!?!
lol
Well, my favorite part of the week is here… Saturday, where I spend most of my day cooking in my kitchen, mostly doing Sunday dinner prep. I have potatoes to peel and broth to make, as we’re having chicken & noodles over mashed potatoes with biscuits and peas. I love my Sunday Suppers.
Today for lunch I’m having chicken salad with strawberries in a wrap. Here’s the recipe, in case anyone is interested.
thaks Linda–sounds good—but strawberries are almost finished now—and those that are about are just not nice…
That’s too bad
Don’t your grocery stores offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables your round? Granted they’re much better when they’re in season. Tomatoes and corn, especially. I never buy fresh cob corn in winter. Once the corn growing season is over and the farm markets close for wintertime, I’m done buying corn, unless it’s off the cob and frozen or canned. Tomatoes as well. I get so spoiled eating those big, beautiful, juicy-sweet tomatoes from the farm market all summer, that the store-bought tomatoes are purely disgusting. That’s because they’re picked before they ripen. Can’t grow tomatoes year round unless they’re “hothouse tomatoes” (tomatoes grown in a greenhouse) and even those are picked too early so they last long enough to sell them. And some stores keep their tomatoes in the refrigerated section, which aggravates me to no end. You never ever ever keep tomatoes in the refrigerator unless they’ve already been cut into and you’re keeping the other portion. And I hate doing even that.
So yeah, the only time I buy tomatoes in wintertime is if I absolutely need one or two for a recipe or something. And even then I’ll sometimes consider leaving the tomatoes out of the recipe, unless they’re crucial to it. So I definitely know what you mean about the off-season strawberries not being very nice. Our strawberry season 'round here was up like 2 months ago. But the ones from the grocery are okay. Good enough to use in recipes, at least.
well Linda–yes, they do–but they are just not very nice—at the moment I am enjoying the lovely peaches and nectarines which are at their best right now.Plus i like to get value for money—so strawberries at over £2.00 a box that might only do 2 meals—when I can buy a honeydew melon for £1.00 that will last all week–no contest !
Yep, makes sense to me
I haven’t had honeydew in a long time. I like cantaloupe as well. Have you ever tried prosciutto-wrapped melon? Super yummy treat.
I like canteloupe too–but funnily enough have not seen one in sainburys for ages–just honeydew, galia–and watermelon–which i really do not like !! and noo-ive never had prosciutto at all.
I just had a Chicken Salad today.
Tomorrow it will be homemade Shepherd’s Pie & Vegs.
Oh, I love prosciutto. It’s a dry-cured Italian ham and it’s usually sliced very thin. It doesn’t taste like ham, though. It’s a taste I can’t really describe, you’d just have to try it to see if you like it. Here is some prosciutto-wrapped melon. It sounds weird, but the flavors meld together perfectly.
All of that sounds wonderful. Especially the Shepherd’s Pie
