I’m changing things up starting Monday. I’m going to go back to my calorie-controlled meals for lunch and try and cut back on heavy carbs for a while. I need to eat more lean protein and fish, especially, because looking at my food log the last week, I’m really not getting enough protein because so many of my meals have been vegetarian. Not that I’m purposely avoiding protein-rich foods, that’s just the way my meals have panned out.
Today I did okay for lunch, I had 3 scrambled eggs (2 whole, one just the whites) with sauteed yellow squash and 4 sea scallops and 4 prawns.
Trust me, I ate enough over the weekend to feed a small army. So for the next few days I’m majorly restricting.
I’ll eat a sensible dinner, of course, but the shake was breakfast and the egg is lunch. The reason I do those shakes is because they’re packed with nutrients and vitamins I won’t be getting because of the lack of food.
hope you all have a good day–I started with my favourite breakfast–crackerbreads with cottage cheese and fruit–today it was orange and grapes–so tasty.
I love pasta, but limit how much of it I eat. However, I’m not a big rice fan, unless it accompanies a Chinese dish. My favorite rice dish in the world is shrimp fried rice, but other than that, really, I can take it or leave it.
That’s very true, diabetics have to watch their carb intake as well as their sugar intake. My mother was a diabetic and I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. Here’s the thing, though… they told me to avoid all things sugar, but nobody said anything about limiting carbohydrates, so I had a field day with pasta and breads. Back then I didn’t know carbohydrates affected blood sugar levels as well. That and just overeating in general can make blood glucose levels rise. I have a monitor that I use to occasionally check my levels. I’m not diabetic, but given the above history, I’m at risk. Which is one of the main reasons for trying to get my weight down to normal.
Carbohydrates and heavy meals will shoot my sugar levels up dramatically. Thankfully, however, they still come back down to normal on their own within a reasonable amount of time. That’s what I’m keeping an eye on. That and fasting blood sugar. If any of that begins changing, it’s time to see my doctor.
While i was out shopping today, i spotted a new Italian ice cream parlour opposite Superdrug–it certainly was not there last week. I thought it would be rude not to try it out Lol Lol–so went in and had a double scoop—i love ice cream, and it was so delicious. Its the first time that I have strayed so badly in the last 6 months—so I am not too concerned–I will not be doing it again—for one big obvious reason—also it cost me £3.50—i could have bought enough fresh salmon for 3 days for that money !!!
