Ive just made my lunch for a barbecue tomorrow—I want to make sure i have the right food and dont eat the wrong food-I have one of those little glass kilner jars, I think they are called—with some moroccan couscous–tomatoes, celery, spring onion, oven roasted pepper, grapes, a little melon, a small ;piece of pinapple chopped up, some wafer thin ham., and a few salad leaves. Just a little of everything as it is a small jar !!-
Never thought of doing that before, interesting idea. And good idea for a BBQ. I tend to overeat at family gatherings. But really it’s just a matter of choosing the right foods and eating sensibly. Sometimes that’s hard to do, though, when you’re faced with a buffet of different yummies.
The only family gatherings I don’t worry about are Thanksgiving and Christmas Brunch. Christmas Brunch isn’t that big of a deal, so I can curb my eating with that one. But when it comes to Thanksgiving, our biggest meal of the holiday season (probably the biggest meal of the year!) I eat and don’t worry about it.
Mariana, you can still have a Chicken Kebab with your own salad to go with it.
Today I am making my own Chicken Curry & Pasta Shells.
Only sauasges and burgers at the barbecue today
Chicken kebab sounds good—but I am restricted as I do not have a working oven or grill at the moment-mostly use the microwave . But i could make a chicken curry—maybe I will next week–I ;like it cold–as in coronation chicken.
Today is a boring Boiled Egg Salad.
I am having chicken livers tonight—looking forward to them for a change–not decided on lunch yet-something similar.
Try doing a stuffed egg with your salad–cut your hb egg in half, scoop out the yolk—then mix it with a teaspoon of mayo–then a little tomato puree—or a little korma paste is nice–mix it till its smooth–and then put it all back in the egg white–hey presto–stuffed eggs.
Or maybe Curry powder & Mayo? That could be nice, thank you Mariana.
~Yes, curry powder would work—but I prefer the curry paste–easy to mix, and tastes nicer–a jar lasts ages in the frdge, because you only need a little of it.
That’s true, I do have a jar of Rogan Paste in the fridge.
Definately better—just a little–a teaspoon will be enough fior a couple of eggs.
Today we are having:
Fresh Salmon Steak, Runner beans from the garden, carrots and large stuffed Mushroom (hubby is having boiled potatoes with his).
My kind of meal Susie—sounds great ! reminder to self—get some salmon out of freezer for tonight !!
Oh dear what a morning—out at craft group–got a blister on the top of my toe—got soaked taking the dogs for a walk when I got home–made a lovely lunch, took one mouthful-a knock at the door—someone had come to collect somethinmg from me. Went back in–to find an empty plate !! My dog Chloe had eaten every scrap—Moroccan cous cous–roasted red pepper, chopped celery and spring onion. --wafer thin ham. All gone !!! i am mad—not at Chloe–but at me, being so stupid leaving it where she could get to it. !!! but on the plus side-i had a little miracle happen today…
But got the salmon out the freezer for tonight—cant wait !! But I nedd to roast some more peppers…
hahaha, you know you should never leave food around when there are dogs about!
i know–i i should have learned my lesson by now-its happened before …
Don’t leave that salmon sitting unattended
Ha ha–it was well out of the dogs reach tonight.
Good thing
I have Dachshunds and they’ve pulled a few fast ones on us with stealing food. On one occasion, Matthew (my son’s dad) and I were sitting on the couch eating burritos from Taco Bell (an admitted weakness of mine). Tiffany, one of our dogs, was sitting beside Matthew on the couch just staring at him as he ate. We were watching a movie. Matthew took a bite of his burrito and was holding onto it and looked away to the TV for just a short moment and Tiffany, in a split second, lunged and grabbed his burrito, snatching it clean out of his hand, and took off with it, jumping off the couch and running to hide behind a chair. She had that thing gone in seconds flat.
Another time was when Matthew left a plate of food on the TV tray beside the couch as he got up to go out to the kitchen to get a drink. Big mistake. My mini Dachshund, Casey, jumped up on the couch and was able to reach the food sitting on the TV tray and started chowing down on Matthew’s dinner.
Since then, Matthew moves the TV tray a good distance from the couch before he leaves the room. Me, I don’t even trust doing that. If the dogs don’t find a way to get to the food (by knocking the entire TV tray over) the cats will
Food is not safe in this house.
Today we are having a Fry-Up.
