They’re super good. I never actually eat them as ‘burgers’, though, as in putting them on a bun or anything. I just eat them as-is, dipping them into some light sour cream.

they would be nice with some side salad I reckon…

Hi

I have been pumped full of steroids recently and not been able to exercise much.

I need to get the weight off, so 4 pints of mint lassi a day, baked skinless chicken with a fat free sauce for a few days.

Boring, but very effective.

i guess you can put up with anything for a few days—but if its a long term project, you need to make it as enjoyable as you can.

Hope it works for you—i have seen what steroids can do.

What is a Mint Lassi?

We are having a roast dinner today of:

Gammon, R. Potatoes, Fine green beans, Carrots & gravy.

Apologies, that l haven’t joined in lately but l felt despondent that l hadn’t lost much one week, l just maintained!! Tonight, l had lost another 3 pounds!
Today, l went to the doctors as he said to come back in eight weeks when hopefully, l had lost half a stone. He was thrilled with me as l have lost almost one stone! He says, l have drastically lessened my risk of having a stroke or heart attack!!
I wouldn’t mind but l have been a bit naughty lately with what l eat… ie. A few choccy biscuits etc!!

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been on steroids the last month or so for a skin condition and while I didn’t gain anything, my weight loss came to a screeching halt.

I’ve been off the steroids for 3 days now, so hopefully things get moving again soon.

Wow that is brilliant–you have done so well-I am still struggling even though I am eating according to slimming world plan.

But i have to stop going to Wednesday morning group as I have joined a Home Group–connected with church–which I have been waiting for a long time. So i have to start going to a Tuesday group–we have 3 on Ttuesday–but I cannot do it next week, as I am working at church-holiday club.
So its another 2 weeks before I can get back to weigh in—Although everytime I use my wii fit , it tells me–but not the same as the good feeling you get at group-when youve lost a couple of pounds !!

We are having Lambs Liver, Mash & peas with onion gravy today.

mm thats what I had on Monday when i went out to lunch-- lambs liver–but had to send it back as it was burnt black–but delicious when it came back…freshly cooked.

~faint~

Oh and I’ve completely lost track of my calories today. I did okay for breakfast (which I rarely have, but I had some egg whites I wanted to finish up) and lunch, but once I got home, it all went downhill.

So this is one of those days where I’m not going to bother logging my calories because it would be pointless. Tomorrow, however, no breakfast and only a tiny amount for lunch and then maybe a decent supper.

Today we are having:

homemade Vegetable Curry and some Pasta shells.

To me it doesn’t matter whether I eat just a plain salad or a roast dinner, my weight never changes, which is quite upsetting for me, all I want to do, is lose my Gut! but my GP keeps on telling me that I will not lose the weight around my stomach and gut because of the amount of Insulin that I use, I even do stomach exercises but still it doesn’t shift. At the moment I am looking at the Slimming World magazine and although the recipes are low fat, they have put loads of sugar in instead. I can’t win.

I do not remember seeing sugar in the slimming world recipes as yet–personally i use a jar of sugar sunstiute if I need a little sugar–for something like–eg–strawberries—but very rarely. i have noticed though, although i am not losing many pounds–my clothes are all getting bigger-getting into stuff from way back that I have not worn for ages–like getting a new free wardrobe–most of my clothes are plain anyway, so they do not really date .

i ahve no idea of the efcect insulin has on a person–but it sounds tough.

Hi Mariana, yes Insulin makes you put on weight, being that I inject myself in my stomach, so that’s where the fat goes, but it also depends on how much you use, if you only use a small amount then you probably wouldn’t notice any difference, but I use hell of a lot and three times a day, I have tried injecting in other spots but it hurts too much, because the rest of my body is muscle, no fat, and you have to inject in the fattest part of your body.

Even fruit I have to watch, strawberries are full of natural sugars, even melon, satsumas etc. so I have to stick to eating just an Apple, very boring.

Yeah, that’s the problem with ‘diet’ and ‘low fat’ foods… to make up for taste, because there’s less or no fat, they use lots of sugar and salt. So you really have to be careful with not only store-bought ‘diet’ foods, but recipes as well.

Susie, I think you would benefit better from purchasing a cookbook specifically for diabetics. I have a book called “2 Day Diabetes Diet” that’s filled with nice recipes. I don’t have diabetes, but my mom did and it also runs in our family. So this is a book that helps people like me try and eat to avoid it completely. Some of the recipes are really good. This is the book I have…

Linda, I do have three Diabetic Cook books, also I have two downloaded on my computer from Diabetes. Co.uk.

This week my sugar levels have been very good, so I can’t complain.

I should be used to it all by now, which I am really, after nearly nearly 30 years of being Diabetic.

Good, glad you have some nice cookbooks

The diabetes thing is another reason I’m trying to get my weight down. Again, it runs in my family and my mother had it. But I also had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. According to my doctor, that puts me at an even greater risk for developing full blown diabetes as I get older. So I really can’t be carrying around this extra weight.

my sister developed diabetes when quite young–but is able to control it with diet–my best friend the same–but she is now borderline-needs to take care-so I guess Im lucky.

Had a bad day to day-went out for lunch to celbtate a friends bithday, to a place we have been before–I do not often go out for lunch-so I was looking foreard to haveing their fish–however it was awful–I was really disappointed in it–then had warm chocolte brownie and ice cream for desert—that was really nice. This evening just had a little salmon and roasted peppers–it will be almost 2 weeks begore I can get back to Sw —plenty of time to get bacvk on tack–this is the first really basd lapse I have had—but I know that I have vto not let it affect me–and not carry on eating bad stuff—all the more annoying as I did not even enjoy it !!! that will teach me !!!

That’s too bad about the fish. I’ve had that happen before, too, where I look forward to something yummy and it’s not yummy at all.

And there’s nothing wrong with the occasional treat. Don’t beat yourself up for it. Just say you enjoyed it and move on
