Ages since I was in a Chinese restaurant—17 months–it was a valenties day treat for my ex BF.
I love chicken chow mein.
My cousin and I go there on occasion to meet for lunch. It’s a nice sit-down restaurant that serves wonderful Cantonese food. I’ve actually been going there since I was a kid, as it was the place my parents used to take us kids. It’s been there since the 1950’s. It’s a classic place to go in our town.
I can’t remember the last time I had Chinese, I do prefer Indian.
Having home cooked Chicken Curry and Rice today.
this morning had crispbreads cottage cheese and strawberries–nice and quick and easy as I had church this morning.
My friend and I went out for lunch and I had egg and cress sandwich on wholemeal bread. plus a muller lite when I got home.
I know my leader is going to tell me i have not had enough, so this evening I am having pasta with lots of chopped veg in it–plus wafer thin turkey slices.

Plus I love my wii fit-now that I got it working again–just needed new batteries, and the cables at the back pushed in |–every day it tells me another pound gone–just bought 2 new wii fit dvds, to try and have some fun with–my favourite games on the old one were step basics–hula hoop–and perfect 10.
Plus took the dogs for a long walk today–unfortunately we did not get far as Chloe insisted on zizagging everywhere–but at least we all got some fresh air. !

I decided to do something about weight. I put my suit on to go to the first of two christenings that occurred earlier in the year (they were a couple of months apart). It was awfully uncomfortable and this was even after Mrs mart had let the waist out a bit. I wasn’t overly big and didn’t get out of breath when bike-riding or walking but I could see the way things were going …and the pot belly.
The method of slimming down was to cut out breakfasts altogether. Stopped eating sweets, chocolate, cakes, bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, pies. No evening nibbles. The bread at lunchtime was replaced by cherry tomatoes, celery, a few slices of cold meat and blueberries. This wasn’t completely good because I also had fiery Mexican soup with turmeric and ginger added. Also made a dip for the celery concocted with Mayonnaise (light), Hoisin sauce and hot Peri-Peri sauce.
I find that anything that leaves a taste or hot sensation in the mouth for a while after eating definitely helps with the feeling of having eaten more.
Dinner (about 6 o’clock) meant cutting out any starchy items and using green beans to ‘bulk up’ meals instead. Pies with gravy replaced by chicken chunks in gravy. Fish and green beans became a regular. In fact, the beans were used a lot to pad out nearly all meals. The gravy made strong by using plenty of gravy mix and spiced up with ginger, turmeric and black pepper.
Nibbles and sweets in the evening were definitely the hardest things to cut out. Replaced by chewing Spanish Root and/or one small piece of Bombay Mix that had Ghost Chili in it. So hot that one small bit was enough to feel burning in the mouth for the next hour.
A couple of months of this and the suit fitted easily for the next christening. I’ve dropped the regime since then and will eat all sorts of foods that taste lovely but are probably really bad for a person. However, I keep an eye on my weight now and when it starts to creep up, it’s back on the diet until it goes back down again.
Thanks for telling us about your experince and way of losing weight, and well done for achieving what you wanted. I have heard about turmeric being good at helping with weight loss-i actually take turmeric capsules–as I do not like my food too spicy.
The problem is that some of us are on a longer journey–well I know I am, so i have to eat in a way that I know I can continue with. Over time I have cut out on most meats–I never eat ready meals, or junk food–no fizzy drinks–no cakes, or biscuits–checking sugar content in cereals–and everything else–everything I eat is the low fat version—virtually cut out meat completely, no cheese, butter etc
. even eating more veg–a lot more–But I am still struggling to lose weight—but on the plus side–most of my clothes are way too big for me now–and even got into the dreess that I wore the day after I was married–when I was 21 !! Never ever thought I would do that. !!

I had quorn mince in the end–mixed with microwaved chopped tomatoes and onions and some italian seasining–topped the pasta,then added a spoonful of fromage frais. really delicious !
I’ve had a piece of toast all day. But doc started me on prednisone for my psoriasis breakout, so that could be the reason I have no appetite. Never taken steroids before.
Not much food left in the house so I’m reduced to eating porridge oats and bran flakes. Had it for combined brekkie/lunch and gonna have another bowl for dinner. I have enough for a good few days so should be fine. Longlife milk in the fridge, thank goodness.
Rubbish … you have a freezer full of goodies, a fridge bursting with ‘stuff’ … plus Bran flakes and all sorts
Nope. Got some frozen veggies come to think of it.
Oh dear–ive never had to take steroids although I have several friends who do—Ive never heard them say that they had lost their appetite—but bthat does not mean that they did not. !! Hope you get your appetite back soon-apart from anything else, just toast is not very healthy for you.
I do not think I could survive on that–it would drive me insane–hate porridge oats anyway—dont you miss having fruit and veg ??
