Hiya Nom,well for Me it’s easier to keep to a sensible diet when the weather’s lovely and I’m more active walking, gardening, and gallivanting about…it’s when the cold rainy days come around that I find Myself eating more, hey ho…but this week I’ve been able to get into My old gardening shorts to potter around
Still not feeling well, so struggling–i know I need to eat something but not sure what.
Sorry You’re still not feeling well Mariana,do You know why?..maybe what You need is a complete change of diet or need to drink lots more water especially in this hot weather,xx
Oh yeah, most definitely. Happens often. I would hit plateaus all the time back when I was serious about weight loss and dropped 80 pounds (nearly 6 stone). I simply just wait for them to pass. I’m kind of at one now. I lost 9 pounds and have stayed there for over a week now. Things will start moving again eventually. Plateaus are perfectly normal. I think it’s your body’s way of taking a little break for a while from the weight loss while it adjusts to new weights and calorie levels.
But that’s just a personal theory of mine.
Good Morning All…It’s so easy to stick to a Mediterranean diet when We have Med’ weather :-D…I haven’t done any cooking for almost two weeks, just snacking on chicken drumsticks, crispbread with cottage cheese,ham/turkey sandwiches, handfuls of nuts,veg’/fruit smoothies, and lots of melon, juicy sweet Scottish strawb’s,black/blueberries…long may the sun shine with an occasional wee shower of rain
Hope You’re feeling a bit better Mariana,x
thanks May—actually feeling really sick today–put on half a pound-so after 2 weeks of cutting down, sensible eating etc etc etc–I am half a pound heavier !!!
Hi Mariana…may just be a wee blip but I know You’re a SW dieter so if I were You I’d be asking for some help to see where You’re going wrong, that’s what They’re paid for after all…xx
thanks May–we just put it down to the antibiotics and painkillers i was on until Monday evening—and hope it sorts itself out next week. But i know I am very unsettled with things in general right now–it does not help…
I know the feeling, Mariana. I’m always unsettled, but then I have anxiety, so that doesn’t help either.
Still stuck on my plateau right now, but I’m still going on with the healthy eating and watching calories. I’ll hopefully break through it soon. Today for lunch I’m having baked baby red potatoes (5 small ones) and I made a tomato-cucumber salad that I’ll have with the potatoes.
Me too Linda—plus I get depressed and lonely much of the time-but doing my best to get out of that…
Sorry You’re feeling sad Mariana…it can be a bummer being on Your Own if it’s not by Your Own choice, x
It’s not easy, that’s for sure. I’ve been on anti-anxiety and anti-depressant meds, but I can’t take them long term because I have a horrible time with side effects, so I had to stop them. I’ve tried different kinds, but nothing cooperates with my body. I guess my body just doesn’t like them. Probably for the best, as I was terrified to take those mind-altering drugs. The only thing I can take is a benzo (ativan, valium, xanax, etc). I use ativan and it helps with the anxious moments and occasional anxiety attacks.
I had a Chicken Curry and Rice today, tomorrow its back to
Egg Salad.
I was on medication last year—but they made me so ill, and gave me horrendus nightmares so I stopped taking them, and gradually improved—but just feeling low again—doc has put me in touch with a counsellor, but it could take months. Just a bad patch im going through-it happens–but it certainly does not help having noone around. !
So I tried hard today
crispbreads, cottage cheese pineapple
tuna and cucumber sandwich, as I was out and had to have lunch out.
sardine and mackeral pate—home made–really nice-with chopped veg and crispbreads–the sardines and mackeral were fresh from sainsburys–and got enough
for another 3 pates [now in freezer]
yoghurt for later on.
I remember the nightmares and the visual disturbances and the general feeling of… well, being off balance. Among other things. I personally feel I’m better off without those medications.
I had one of those “munch this and munch that” whilst cooking days, so I’ve completely lost track of my calories. Will start again tomorrow with logging and try and keep things reasonable for dinner.
You’re eating lots of good, oily fish, which has heart-healthy fats and lots of omega-3 fatty acids. Tuna, sardines, mackerel… all good stuff.
One of my favorite things is mid-rare tuna steak. I like it seared on the outside, but raw on the inside.
im not so keen on fresh tuna–or any tuna-but i know it is good for me—but what i do love is very lightly cooked salmon—not quite raw—but I guess a bit like the texture of smoked salmon.
And yes, i agreee- no medications is better for you, if its possible.–currently i am taking no medication so I know there are no side effects happening.
Well after the euphoria of losing 5lb in the first week, l now feel despondent after the second week. I followed the trainer’s advised diet of eating five times a day. I felt a prisoner to it! I thought l had done well but when l was weighed at Slimming World, l had only lost a measly half a pound! I am now going to stick to the Slimming World diet.
On Monday, l start exercising in the gym. I have to go out and by the dreaded trainers that l hate and have never worn in my life!
Needs be, l suppose!
Big Congrats to all those that have lost weight since l last posted! I hope you’re feeling better, Mariana.
I did warn you I believe !
You can not lose, in a few weeks, that which took you years to put on. Simply correct your eating habits, don’t diet (SW is a waste of your time and money), and Nature will do her thing in her own good time. She will not be forced. Don’t eat according to any regular routine or regime. Eat when you feel like eating. When you do eat, ensure there is little to no sugar in it, and if there is sugar, be sure to eat it with plenty of fibre.
Funny, because I love salmon as well, just not the smoked. We’re polar opposites where fish is concerned
Ack, 5 times a day. I don’t think I could manage that, unless they were micro meals.
thanks–im still struggling a bit–but trying hard.
i put on half a pound over the last 2 weeks of dieting-so feeling quite despondent–but waiting to see what happens next week–I am writing out a food diary for my group leader-I usually do one–but noone but me could understand it-so i need to write it out properly. And see if we can find out what the problem is. I do not go to a gym, but I do loads of walking–more than ever before.
