He defdinately read your mind–hope it was good—
It’s delicious. I tasted it, but haven’t eaten it as my meal yet. I’ll have it later.
My mouth is watering already–ive not bothered with much today, as still not feeling well—but could manage a dish of houmous–no problem ! I like it in a wrap–sprinkled with spiralised carrott and apple–rolled up–delicious !!
Oh, I forgot to say—I was at Slimming World today–feeling despondent as I knew it was not going to be good–not that ive eaten anything that I should not have had–but its been such a stressful, upside down , confused, crazy, painful week–Yesterday for instance, I never even had time for lunch—just had my usual breakfast of crispbreads, cottage cheese–and in the evening a bowl of home made tomato and veg soup with pasta–
In fact I stayed the same—I confess I was disappointed–but I guess thats marginally better than putting on–yet my friend , was away all weekend–out for big meals-steak and chips etc, curries, --loads of beer–and he lost a pound and a half—how does that work out ??
I made up this kind of weird/different thing when I got bored with just hummus and pita bread - I open the pitas and spread the hummus generously inside of them. Then I stuff in diced onion, diced tomato, pineapple tidbits and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. Then I bake them in the oven until the pita breads are crunchy. I’ve been making them that way ever since. I haven’t had that in quite some time because it’s been a while since I’ve had hummus, so I can’t wait!
You know, it’s funny, I’ve had those times where, try as I might, I don’t drop any weight. Then I’ll eat like a LITTLE piggie (not a big one, but I take in more food than normal) for a weekend, then get on the scale a couple days later and I’ve dropped 2 or 3 pounds
Not sure why. I read a theory once that I suppose makes sense… when you severely restrict calories, your body thinks it’s in a famine. So everything you take, in your body will hold onto for dear life, kind of ‘preserving’ it in case it doesn’t get anymore food within a reasonable amount of time. Which subsequently slows down your metabolism. But when you have a couple of days where you eat more than you’re used to eating, it’s like your body says “Yes! Food! Let’s get things churning again!” and it can actually cause you to lose weight because your body no longer feels it has to hold onto everything and your metabolism fires up again and starts burning calories.
I don’t know how true that is, but hey, sounds good to me
Today is:
Breakfast: Porridge
Dinner: Fresh Salmon Steak, New Pots. Greens & Carrots.
Supper: Crispbreads.
Yep this is true, you beat me to the reply.
It’s a common mistake of many dieters to try and not eat so much and in fact if they are working hard during the day and happen to miss lunch or even miss both breakfast AND lunch, that they feel good about it.
Bad thinking because as you rightly say, you put your body into “starvation mode” where it recognises the lack of food and thus stores any food you eat as fats for longer term storage.
Metabolic rate is a key to losing weight. Ideally, you want to get that rate up, but if you do, you need to be sure that you are then using all that excess energy. So eat plenty of food, plenty of calories, which will give you plenty of energy, and then burn that energy off with some form of physical exercise like a good walk. Once your metabolic rate is fired up it will burn calories much faster.
There is a school of dieting which concerns ways to trick the body’s senses and mechanisms which may be worth looking into. It involves eating different types of food at different times. You eat one type until your body just expects more to come then you switch.
Its just been a difficult week for me-but I may start to change what I am eating-I tend to stick to the same thing–its easier–plus cheaper as its only me in the house.
But panging to get my little dog Chloe out for a walk 5 times this week–she cant see now, and for 6 months refused to go out—so i am happy about that–for us both !!

#oh wow–that sounds delicious-I miught try that tonight–i dont usually have pitta bread, but I guess there is no reason why not—I can use a wrap instead–nor do i have any parmesan or pinapple at the moment–but i’ll improvise !
That’s probably why a lot of bodybuilders eat every couple of hours. Some even set their clocks to get up in the middle of the night to down something real quick before they go back to bed. It keeps the metabolism running, which in turn keeps the calories burning. If you deprive your body of food, it’s going to slow everything down. That’s why they say it’s best to eat small portions often, rather than one or two large portions in a single day.
Give your body what it wants and it will stay efficient for you

Wraps work just fine as well. Try it, you may like it. The reason I use the pineapple is because it offsets the tartness from the lemon juice in the hummus and give the whole thing a mild, sweet flavor. I love it.
After week one of my Slimming World diet, l have lost 5lbs! I couldn’t believe it but l’m delighted!
That is a lot . Well done you. Now don’t start thinking you can have a few treats as that is the road to ruin. Stick to the diet  .
I’ve lost a fair whack myself since going on a vegan diet consisting of mainly baked beans, veggies, fruit, rice crackers and potatoes. Weight seems to be falling off me.
Great job!
Mmmmmmmm, beans and potatoes. Potatoes especially, I could eat them every day in just about any form.
Oh, yes it was so nice–I used the wrap and spread the hoummous on it, then scattered it with chopped peppers, celery, spring onion, tomatoes and mange tout, wrapped it up, and popped it in the oven about 20 minutes–you are right, the wrap got crispy and nice and hot inside-I loved it–I only had oranges and grapes until tomorrow, I figured they would not go, but some pineapple arriving tomorrow. So tasty—and good when it was hot !
Whoa! That sounds delicious! Gives me even more ideas
Yep, I love my wraps and pitas nice and crispy. Also, with wraps, I’ll throw them on my stovetop flat grill pan to get the outsides nice and browned. That works as well.
Oh that is so well done—you are definately the star slimmer this week–porobably this month !!
That sounds really good—is that rice cakes you mean–or something different. ??
I cannot eat potatoes in any form whatsoever–I used to think it was good as it was always said to cut down on potatoes—but that thinking has changed a little.
BTW my friend who was away–eating big meals in fancy restaurants and drinking pints of beer last week—he lost 3 pounds this week–and was star slimmer in his club—its just not fair !!!
Congrats Artangel, but . . . you must know that most of that will be water loss. The first couple of weeks are always like that and then it tends to plateau out to the hard grind of losing a pound every week or maintaining. Nevertheless, it’s a fab start.
Thank You Realist and everyone for your Congrats!
I thought this is how it would be… big loss to start and then levels out.
I am torn between two diet plans at the moment. Last week l followed the Slimming World diet, this week after an appointment with the Fitter Future instructor, she has put me on another diet plan where l am eating five times a day, at short intervals. I am not really allowed to drink tea or coffee but 2 litres of water per day! I can’t eat after 6.30pm. If l get hungry after 6.30pm, l can have a rice cake with butter, ham and cucumber.
This is my daily plan…
7to8am. Porridge/milk
11am. 2eggs either boiled, scrambled or poached.
13.00hrs…brown bread ham sandwich or sweet potato with salmon
14.30hrs… 2 Ryvitas with cheese
18.30hrs… Chicken and veg, or mackerel and veg
2litres of water
