Eh, it’s simply your body saying hey, I don’t really need all this food right now, I’m okay with small portions and we’ll get back to our regular schedule when we feel better.
We have a family member who’s also watching what she eats and is trying to get a few pounds off and she had a couple days a few weeks ago where she didn’t feel well and didn’t eat much and she was freaking out over it. I was like what in the world are you worried about? If you don’t feel like eating right now, then don’t force yourself. Just like overeating for a couple of days, undereating for a couple of days isn’t going to kill her. But she acts like it will, lol.
I guess you are right Linda—but i did enjoy the soup—went down well–i can probably manage some low sugar jelly later too.
Who was it said to make the jelly with lemonade—i do that now–really makes a difference. but i am annoyed at Sainsburys–everyone talking about sugar free and icreasing the price of stuff with sugar in—the no suger jellies up to a few months ago were 47p a packet–now they are 70p—yet a cadburys chocolate jelly packet is in special offer at 24p --its crazy !!!
managed to get a dentist appointment 11.45—thats good.!!
Leave just afdter 10.00 to fit in with bus times—bucketing down with rain–15 minutes walk to bus stop–10 minutes the other end. Perfect day !!!
My sister gave me a recipe for Humous and l have just made some! Yuk Yak Yuk… Uhhhh horrid. Why can’t l have nice food any more? I am fed up of fruit, fruit and more fruit!!
Well that’s no fun, making yucky hummus. I make it occasionally and it always turns out really good. If you like super smooth hummus, the key is to peel the skins off the beans. I know it’s tedious and takes a while, but it does make a difference. There are easy tricks to getting the skins off. I also add a touch of honey to mine. It’s delicious.
I’m not much of a fruit eater, so I don’t eat it very often.
Never tried making hoummouss–but i love it. !!
Had an awful day—weather so bad, that the main road was closed because of a fallen tree-someone eventually stopped and gave me a lift–i have an abscess, thats why its so painful–walked basck to station to get a train-no trains running-tree on line—eventuall got to my station–but no cabs-so another over a mile walk in the pouring rain again !! 5 hours for a 15 minute appointment–only 7 miles away–
Linda, Do you have any ideas how to tart it up to be eatable?!! I used a tin of chick peas, lemon, garlic, cumin, and a little incy wincy bit of oil !! It’s so, so garlicky! Can l cook it or add it to something as it seems a shame to waste!
Mariana, l am sorry that you’ve had a miserable day. Do you fancy a bit of my Houmous on breadsticks! Yak!
Oh, yuk, Mariana, that doesn’t sound fun at all. And all this time in pain, no less. I feel for you, hon
I understand what you mean. I don’t like hummus that’s too garlicky. Not sure how you could fix that, without adding more chick peas to spread the flavor out. Maybe you could try a little more lemon, but then you may get it too tart. Unless you like it that way. If so, you could try it.
Did you use tahini? That’s a traditional ingredient for hummus. Tahini is a sesame paste that gives hummus its nutty flavor. If you didn’t use that, maybe that’s what it is missing.
Here’s an article you might want to read. It’s one I discovered and followed when I was a beginner hummus maker and it really helped me.
A subsequent article called “Ethereally Smooth Hummus” is also a good read.
Take the time to read them when you get a coffee break and you’ll be an expert hummus maker in no time

Sounds good to me.!!
When I have seen recipes for Hoummous it always says to use Tahini Paste. But somehow when its only £1.00 a pot in Sainburys–and guaranteed good…i find it difficukt to get the incentive to do it myself-I guess i should, them I know what is in it !!
Could not eat much today–virtually the same as yesterday , but plain pata and chopped veg instead of with the soup.
A really good way of making pasta tastier is to put a stockpot in the cooking water-I usually use a chicken one or a vegetable one–tastier than just salt–either Knorr or Sainsburys–roght now the Knorr are £2.00 a packet of 8 in Sainsburys. it its a lot of pasta i use 2 cubes–maybe one of each…
If you love hummus, it’s definitely worth a try. If you don’t mind a thicker, grittier hummus, then don’t bother peeling all the skins off the beans. But there are tips out there you can find to easily remove the skins. For instance, this video.
If you love super smooth hummus, it’s totally worth taking the time to remove the skins.
Thanks for that Linda.
I have to say, it’s starting to calm down a bit but is still so garlicky! I dread going to the opticians tomorrow…the man will faint with the smell of garlic!!
I have added a bit of sweet chilli sauce and it is a bit better. I hadn’t got any Tahini paste so l added sesame seeds when l was processing it but l think it was a waste of time!
Someone I know uses (per one tin of chick peas) about a tablespoon of peanut butter in her hummus instead of Tahini. I’ve tried it with peanut butter before, it’s not bad at all. But you don’t need much, since sesame paste is a much milder flavor than peanut butter. She adds peanut butter and honey to hers, which is where I got the honey idea. I actually prefer the Tahini to the peanut butter because it’s more of a traditional hummus flavor, but the honey makes it a little extra special.
Well guess what I’m having for dinner this evening? Hummus, haha. In a complete and total coincidence, my son’s dad said he picked me up my favorite hummus yesterday from a place that makes it super good, but forgot to grab it from the fridge before leaving work. I told him he better bring me that hummus tonight, by gawd, or there will be hell to pay!
Dang, something just occurred to me… maybe he and I are psychic in a way, because I haven’t had hummus in quite some time now and just yesterday we were talking about it here and then he coincidentally decides to get me some.
