Online Deliveries, Supermarkets

sometimes us men have to be stubborn more than say obstinate. This is more so when a client/customer is trying to get one over on you.

With us a client signed a contract with the terms clearly laid out and easy to read.
Example with boarding animals, we ask for payment in full when the animal is left with us, that gives us time to clear any cheques etc.
If the client returns before the pick up date they try and claim the days not used.
You have then to refer them to the contract and refuse to return the money. It is their choice to collect the animal early
If you wernā€™t stubborn in refusing next time they could easily book more kennel space days than they want . This in turn stops another person wanting that kennel so we loose out

Business is business which is entirely different from social life

It could well be that your own local store provides the stuff you ordered. However this may not be the case across the UK in which case, since eg Tesco has only one website which doesnā€™t take into account where one lives, they cannot offer every available item online for home delivery.

Iā€™ve never managed to get a delivery slot . Iā€™ve tried a few times with different supermarkets but I must do something wrong because there are never slots available so I just give up.

I love a bargain too Swimmyā€¦as you say its a Yorkshire thing

Perhaps Tescoā€™s computers donā€™t know what a pint isā€¦:017:

Try ordering 0.568 Litreā€¦

ā€¦or 473ml if the computer was made in the USA.

ummm better stick to litres.

Herbal, Iā€™m with you with Tesco online delivery.
Have to confess though, only the two of us but I still order without fail 3 x 4pint semi-skimmed every week. We eat a lot of cereal and must hold the world record for cups of tea per day!

You do know of course that if you tick the box next to the item in the list view of your basket, they will substitute your milk for another, even if it is larger, i.e. 2 pinter, you still only pay for 1 pint if they donā€™t have it. Of course, if it says at the time of ordering that it is unavailable, this does not apply, but it sounds as though it was available in your case so you are losing out by not ticking for a substitute. You canā€™t lose when it comes to milk!

No, it wasnā€™t available when I put the order in. I would have expected that, with over a weekā€™s notice, they had plenty of time to make it available.

I agree.

I find that works in reverse as well.
I have ordered a couple of things which were ā€˜availableā€™ yet when the order comes they were missing, and substituted.

I now know how to click ā€™ No substitutionsā€™ though.

I donā€™t want litres, I want milk.

Milk is milk.

Are you a philosopher?

An engineer.

We were in M&Sā€™s food hall this morning and were told that there are NO more Ocardo delivery spaces available for the run up to Christmas.

Good God Percy!
Iā€™d better check on that in my area, because I use Ocado M & S.

Glad to be of service Mups.

Me too Mups. I donā€™t put substitutes for anything apart from such as semi-skimmed milk 4 pints, or things like bananas or onions. but the rest is always without the tick for substitutes.
I certainly make good use of the ā€˜note for pickerā€™ space under each item though! The picker must hate doing my shop because with things like bread I always put ā€˜Minimum 3 day shelf life please or will not acceptā€™ as they were sending bread with 1 or 2 day shelf life or my 6 ripe bananas which has ā€˜Do not deliver Green Bananas pleaseā€™ after they kept delivering deep green bananas.
If I was the picker I would be calling me a right old cow! but it does the trick and never had cause for complaint since.

I too found it very difficult to get a delivery slot with Tesco during the first lockdown Summer. I found it very frustrating as I have been a home delivery customer for years, but with everyone then stuck at home I didnā€™t stand a chance of getting a slot, though shielding since March, I could notget one for weeks ahead. (they do a four week slot). But I understood how things were and just got on with it.

Then, fortunately, once we were out of lockdown and things got back to near normal, I logged in one day and was able to get a delivery slot for that week. (I am on delivery saver for mid week Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday delivery) Then I happened to look at the following weeks dates and found plenty of free slots, so I did my shop for that week as well and as long as I put it through the check out, (they donā€™t take the money until delivery day), then I did the same with the 3rd week and then the 4th week. I didnā€™t feel bad about it because I had gone without a slot for months!

Now, I know exactly when the 4th week delivery slots come into being and only have to book the weekā€™s shop for that week. online.
Perhaps it is easier hereabouts to get a slot. Tesco come from just over the border in North Wales (3 miles) and we live over the other side of the border in England.

Now we have another lockdown, I am so relieved I did shop ahead in advance, otherwise I would never get a slot as I looked yesterday and for the first two weeks not one single slot available again.
I only get the basics from Tesco so it never comes to more than Ā£50, but it is a godsend. We get meat, most fruit and veg and delicatesan delivered free locally.

Thatā€™s the problem with online food shopping, you donā€™t get to pick the good stuff and they send you any old rubbish
