So, Harbal, you don’t care whether we’re in or out, you don’t like the concerns of those who do, you are bored with the whole thing?
Why do you post in this topic, then?
So, Harbal, you don’t care whether we’re in or out, you don’t like the concerns of those who do, you are bored with the whole thing?
Why do you post in this topic, then?
Because I’ve got a mischievous streak, Ted.
Why shouldn’t it have been possible? Harbal was unable to justify his assertion. Can you?
My assertion that you are always complaining justifies itself.
The voice of sanity … Boot … you’re terrific!
Yes I agree, Boot is fantastic.
Oh Harbal … you can go off people you know.
I hate it when folk say so demeaningly … you and those like you
I’m not sure what you hate, but I meant it genuinely, Boot really is terrific.
I’m very happy to discuss matters with Harbal, as long as he is capable of justifying his views.
Until then, I prefer not to waste my time.
Well if you are not prepared to waste your time, I’m afraid we have nothing left to discuss.
@Boot , Yes l agree we should establish whether Nigel is going to start a
new political party Boot? As the the initiator of the OP I have tried to find
the articles that l saw , but it seems that they have been removed for reasons
unknown, the only thing left are old articles concerning Nigel’s earlier
attempts at getting a new party off the ground as Boot has pointed out.?
Now l definitely saw these articles but did not read them entirely due to the
articles concerned asked for me to take out a subscription!
I cannot remember the names of the papers these articles were in, but l
have an idea that they the financial times, and maybe the Washington post?
The reason l believe these fresh articles ever existed is that both of them
used the title of the new party (New Kip Party) as their headline ??
I intend to ask Nigel the question as soon as l can organise my arrangements
to do so via his TV show!
Further to the BREXIT argument that intruded into OP on this thread, l believe
it has been caused by the big changes that have taken place in the forum’s
membership with many new members arriving, some of whom seem to be
rabid remainers who seem determined to change what previously was a
BREXIT favouring forum into something different??
Donkeyman!
@Donkeyman
Thanks for the extra info about where you saw the articles about New Kip. What you have written about these news articles disappearing intrigues me - I am on a mission to find out more about it! - mainly because I like trying to untangle a mystery that catches my attention.
As for this being a “Brexit favouring forum”, I thought the common denominator for membership was being Over 50 - it would be sad to think we would need to have separate forums for those who approved of Brexit and those who didn’t.
Regardless of our views about Brexit, we have to be able to live together in the same country, share workplaces, neighbourhoods, be part of the same sports teams, friendship groups and families etc, so it’s not much to expect to able to share the same friendship forum.
As far as I’m concerned, there’s no “Remainers” or “Brexiters” anymore - the debate’s been done and the vote’s over - we’re all in the same boat now and will sink or swim together - no point raking over old coals or crying over spilt milk.
We have to try to make the best of all the decisions that have been taken to date and try to sort out the best path going forward.
I have noticed the same, Donk, but I must say that we should accept all views on this forum whether or not we agree with them, at least if they can manage to offer evidence for their statements. If they write rubbish, simply ignore them.
As for Nigel, personally I’d like to see him, rather than trying to form yet another right-wing pro-Brexit party, he should do all he can to unite the several new parties: Reform, UKIP, etc., into one party speaking in unity.
I don’t know the answer to this question, so what I have a feeling it is might not be what it actually is, but of all the threads relating to Brexit, how many are started by “remainers”?
Also, you say this was a Brexit favouring forum, but imply that it no longer is, or at least that it isn’t so much so anymore. Perhaps that is due to some ex-supporters changing their minds in the light of events subsequent to Brexit, as much as it is to the arrival of new members.
I sense that you resent new members who don’t like Brexit joining this forum, and perhaps even think they had no business doing so. I suppose that is because they tend to be rabid, while you Brexiteers are calm and reasonable.
Oh dear! That’s made me feel about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit!
And a Brexit favouring forum? Really? How cosy I bet there were always a few Remainers sneaking in
But I sorry if I’ve upset your apple cart
Maybe the recent articles about “Newkip” were triggered by this recent Report by “Onward” Think Tank Group, who have recently written a Report about the next election.
“A populist right wing party is the biggest threat to the Tories and could cost them the next election, according to a study by the think-tank that predicted the red wall collapse.”
It doesn’t actually say that Nigel Farage is forming a new party but it forecasts what may happen if there was a resurgence of a Farage-type “NewKip” party.
A bigger threat to the Conservatives would come from a resurgent ‘NewKip’ right-wing populist party. Research has already shown that the Brexit Party cost Con 25 extra seats at the last election. In effect, if the Brexit Party had stood down in more Leave-voting Labour seats, Boris Johnson’s majority could have increased from 80 to an eye-watering 130.
Looking forward to the next election, we estimated the impact of disaffected 2019 Conservative voters switching to a new party that occupied the same political niche as UKIP or the Brexit Party did at their height.
‘NewKip’ would cost the Conservatives 53 seats, which would completely eradicate their majority and deliver a hung parliament. They would lose some of their more iconic 2019 gains like Dewsbury, Bridgend and North West Durham, as well as some marginal seats in the South.
I agree about having to be able to live together in the same country, share workplaces, neighbourhoods, be part of the same sports teams, friendship groups and families etc, and views on Brexit shouldn’t have any impact on that
I’m sorry if my Remainee views mean I’m not welcome in this forum
But I don’t agree about being a Remainer or Brexiter not mattering any more. I am still a Remainer and think those who voted for Brexit made a big mistake.
But I thought once the vote was in, we should have left straightaway. That was the democratic decision and I think it was the delay that caused such a lot of hostility
But every democratic decision can be reversed democratically to. So while I think Rejoining is what’s best for our country, that’s what I’ll be hoping for and working towards
You’re a welcome addition to it as far as I’m concerned, and your views on Brexit have nothing to do with that.
@Boot ,. So you don’t remember the time when the the OFF had two
BREXIT forums?
One in favour of BREXIT !
One in favour of remaining !
Eventually the remain forum became defunct due to lack of support but
the in favour forum continued untill Azz changed the whole forum to what
it is now ??
I would like to add that the ‘remainer’ factors gravitated over to disrupt the
For BREXIT forum before they eventually disappeared ??
So you can understand why l am nsuspicious when a spate of anti BREXIT
posts start reappearing on the forum ??Regarding the disappearing
articles l also would like to know if it is even possible that an article can be
removed after being posted and if so, by whom ??
Donkeyman!
@Boot , Well done! you seem to have solved the mystery of the missing
articles Boot ??
But now it presents another question ,perhaps you can answer that too?
Where did they disappear to and why ?
From what you have found it seems that Nigel has no knowledge of this
so it can be concluded that it is ‘fake news’ !!
So everybody can now calm down ???
Donkeyman!
