"New Kip" will you vote for them?

Don’t make me do that, JBR, anything but that. :disappointed:

At least 50 reasons, easily! Here’s a sample

We should trade with our closest neighbours. We have shared interests and culture and it’s better or the environment, animal welfare and promoting local products

As an small single country, our influence is small. Standing with the EU on things like human rights and child labour we could use our combined trading veto to influence countries like China and Saudi

Being able to travel and work freely in EU countries greatly benefits our children

I have so many more, but I wouldn’t want you to think I’m “harping” on

  1. We should indeed trade with our closest neighbours, but unfortunately the EU demands that we give in to their rules as opposed to them giving in to ours. Consequently, we seem to be doing perfectly well in trading with non-EU countries instead without them attempting to dictate to us!

  2. We are a small country, undoubtedly, but small doesn’t necessarily mean weak. Taking trading as an example, since you mention it, when it comes to financial trading we leave the EU standing. It is also worth considering that historially we have bought more from the EU than they have bought from us, so if the EU doesn’t want to trade fairly with us that’s fine by me. We can buy everything from other sources, especially wine and cheese (France) and cars (Germany). In fact, I’d love to see their faces if ever they decide to throw their weight about and heavily tax us on any purchases from them!

  3. Why do our children particularly want to travel and work in the EU? There are so many other places which would welcome them as friends and not enemies. Remember, the EU really detests us for leaving their control and would cut off their noses to spite us.

As an outside observer I tend to think you might be right. Brexit was a complete cock up by the UK government from beginning to end but even worse was the time chosen to leave, unfortunately no one could have predicted the pandemic.

I fear for the future of my nieces and nephews in the UK who’s future prosperity has been so badly affected by the decision to leave the EU. I am sure Britain will recover but I doubt it will ever be as prosperous as the rest of Europe in the future.

No doubt some Hooray Henry PM will tell you that you’ve never had it so good but you can be sure it will be a lie.

That is said by someone who voted “No” in 1975

@ Bruce, l agree BREXIT was a complete cock up Brucy,
But it was a cock up not of incompetence entirely but by design!
Boris was wedded to the idea of leaving with an overarching so called “deal”
( in other words, not leave really!) ?
That is why we are still tied to importing EU goods and are still arguing
about NI !
Allthough it may have caused more disruption to our supply chains initially
to leave completely without a deal, imo once we had found new suppliers
we would ultimately be better off ?
After all, all producers are looking for markets aren’t they?? Surely a market
of 70 million is desirable to them? Plus that our current suppliers in the EU
will not be happy with losing what is their main income for some of them!
And will obviously apply pressure on the commissioners to allow trade
to continue in most cases ??
Concerning our exports to EU, they are much less than the EUs to us,
And are decreasing every year , whereas our dealings worldwide are
increasing! So our balance of trade will eventually improve ?
The only fly in the ointment l can see is that our incompetent leaders
in the past sold off most of our manufacturing sector which makes
it difficult to take full advantage of of exporting without investing in
some new infrastructure !

Well said, Donk.

The population of this country voted to leave the EU. Had Treason May and Bumbling Bunter accepted that decision and done the job properly, we would be in a far better position we are right now.

Accepted, we are successfully trading with countries all over the world, but our politicians seem to be attempting to keep us tied to the EU one way or another: handing over part of our country (NI) and our territorial maritime areas to Brussels, and for what? In return, they are still trying their best to take as much from us as they can.

This is one way why I can no longer trust the Conservative party and, of course, never have trusted Labour and the Liberals. All three seem hell bent on handing over everything we have to our competitors and enemies.

Any party that will obtain our complete freedom from the EU will have my vote. Sadly, most people are unable to vote for anyone other than those they (and their dads!) have always voted for. So we still have what we deserve!

It’s always somebody else’s fault, isn’t it? It couldn’t possibly be the fact that leaving the EU was never going to deliver the paradise you expected, could it?

You’re avoiding the issue. If we voted for something which the government promised to do, shouldn’t it have done it?

It wouldn’t be the first time that something undoable has been promised. would it? :102:

You can’t expect the EU to feel bound by promises made by our politicians.

Why was Brexit ‘undoable’? Please explain.

What was promised obviously hasn’t been done, because you keep complaining about it.

If it hasn’t been done, one can only conclude it can’t be done. What other reason could there be? :102:

Ah, so you can’t substantiate your claim that those things were ‘undoable’!

What other reason? Well, politicians wanting to ignore the populace and what they asked for, in favour of their own benefit.

Hey! Hang on! - before this thread becomes just another boring Brexit barney, can we get to the bottom of the original thread topic first?!

Nigel Farage has launched yet another political party to be dubbed “New-Kip” ??
Will you be voting for them, and why ??

I think we should bend our considerably resourceful collective minds to establishing whether Nigel Farage has launched a new political party or not - surely between us we must be able to establish whether a fact like that is true or not - if he hasn’t, then the rest of the discussion is moot, so argument is over.
Cushty!

Well, exactly, the Brexit that many of the Brexit wanted, and to be fair to them, the Brexit they were promised and sold, was never possible.

I’m pretty certain he hasn’t

Wishful thinking?

Or maybe he hinted just to get some publicity and limelight?

After all, it worked on here, didn’t it?

Of course not, what do you take me for? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It sounds like you failed to take that into account when your head was swimming with high hopes.

Actually, I only remember the populace being given the opportunity to ask to stay or to leave. I don’t think they had the chance to ask for anything else.

@Harbal , Yeahbut, then you lot came up with " but it’s only a advisary vote"
And “:you dont known what you are voting for” etc, etc, ad infinitum !!
Then Theresa May took ’ charge’ and wouldn’t allow her BREXIT minister to
to actually do any negotiating,( so he resigned )! And then Theresa took over
completely and made verbal deal without it passing through parliament ??
Do you wish me to continue? There is quite a bit more to come, but you
probably know it as well as me?About how Boris nwas appointed as PM by
the largley remainer rump of the Tory party !!
The rest is history as they say !!

I’m not part of any “lot”, and I didn’t come up with anything. :102:

Do continue if you wish, but just bear in mind that I didn’t even ask you to start.

The fact is, you and those like you voted for Brexit, and all you have done since you got what you voted for is complain. At least take some responsibility for the consequences of your decision.

@Harbal , l have just tried explain to you Harbie, that the reason we complain
is that , we DIDNT get what we voted for, we got what Boris thought was
BREXIT
It is you lot that should be happy as you have almost got what you wanted ?
Which l assume was the status-quo ??

Well even I, politically ignorant as I am, knew you weren’t going to get what you seemed to be expecting. I think it was a bit naive of you to expect it, actually.

I keep telling you that I am not part of any lot. And I am neither happy nor unhappy, I don’t much care about any of it, to be honest. It just gets a bit boring that the people whinging about the UE before the referendum are still whinging after they achieved their goal of getting out.

The EU are a lot bigger than us, we can’t bully them into anything they don’t want to do, no many how good we are at negotiating.
