Leisurely Scribbles (part 5) (Part 1)

Jem, are you ambidextrous or ambipure?

Thank you for your swift reply Sweetie Pie from Dorset.
Yes I should have taken all the mice to Specsavers and had them checked out before I started using them, silly me.

 I’ll let you know as soon as I find my dictionary Spitty.

Ambi pur, never typed that before.:lol::lol:

As an infant, I used to steal other kids breakfast cereal, looking back I think I was a bit of a “Rusk Taker”.:lol:

My nephew grew up in London, he used to play marbles on the street with this Greek kid, the nephew was very lucky at marbles but he kept coming home with black eyes, the Greek kid always wanted his marbles back.

Superstitions.
I admit to having a few, then again there are other superstitions that wouldn’t bother me at all, like I don’t mind walking under ladders, Friday the 13th, opening umbrellas in the house, and many more.
One big superstition I have however is that Opal stones are unlucky, I will not work with them, will not repair a piece of jewellery that has Opals in it either. I’ve had two bad experiences with them in my working life and that put the lid on Opals for me for good. The incidences are too long to relate, besides I want to forget them forever, but believe me they are very true, scary stuff indeed. I typed a note about what I thought of these stones and filed it away somewhere, if I find it I’ll post it later.
Horse Racing folks are very superstitious I find, so are a lot of show business people, Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth!

Reminds me of the USA kid who wanted his pullover back.

never been superstitious in my whole life ‘so far’ used to be fatalistic but that passed - pessimistic - NO ! - optimistic - quietly so - animistic - NO never fancied walking out with a dog! futuristic - - not much - realistic - not enough of! - mystic - can be - add a pinch of salt; tabasco sauce and a teaspoon of exprezzo cafe and that’s me - now what’s that song that goes with all of that " I’m dreaming of a white Xmas"?

talkin of stones as Jem was - what was that song about stones " I got stonned and I missed it" by Dr Hook and the Medicine band - utube please Pug? - oops sorry forgot - you’ve still got a 15th century pc heh?

I’ve just noticed Pug that you’re rapidly approaching the ‘Chatterbox’ category, may I offer you my heartiest congratulations now in case I forget about it when it comes in a few weeks time, old lads like me do tend to forget a lot. 5,000 posts is a hell of a lot from the shy little lad to the confident poster we all know today, well done you.

I’m trying to cut down on my own count, I think at one stage I was averaging 7 posts a day! ridiculous,.
God if the wife ever seen that I have accumulated 16,000 posts there’d be no end to the slagging I’d get, good job that when she casts her sly eye over me shoulder she never spots the little numbers in the right hand corner, I can just hear her now if she ever saw them.

“Jaysus Jem! am I seeing things or what? yeh wrote 16,000 letters into an over 50’s forum and you wouldn’t even write me sisters a birthday card!”
“Ah well that’s your function my dear, they are YOUR sisters after all, besides don’t I take them out regularly for a drink?”
“Go way yeh bloody waster, 16.000 letters indeed!, have yeh nothing better to be doing with yerself”

Yes indeed, the shame of it, waster is right, she would go on to tell it to her sisters and then there would be no peace to be had when we were all out together.
If I ever hit the 20,000 mark, which I doubt and sincerely hope I never do, I’ll be onto Azz to ask him to do a put the clock back job on the figures, you know like they do with the speedometers on second hand cars.

RJ was lucky, he lost a couple of thousand when he had to re- enlist after losing his log in details if my memory serves me right.

I see Spitty is a Chatterbox three times over, forgive me, but how anyone could call Spitty a Chatterbox entirely escapes my imagination, and I have a far reaching imagination.:lol:

Well, all will become clear, sooner than later. Probably.

Just popped back to say…

Robert the constructor.

There was a chap on ‘Bargain Hunt’ today and he was telling Anita Manning that he was a builder and years ago he was working on the house of this lady who was an author, according to him he was the fella who inspired the woman to create the character ‘Bob the Builder’
But of course he wasn’t fooling me, oh no he wasn’t, he’s a bloody chancer, we all know that Spitty was the real inspiration for Bob the Builder, good on ya Spitty and to hell with the imposters.;-)

Nothing is too high and nothing is too low
If a job’s to be done, he’ll give it a go
With his trusty shovel and his bag of sand
Your building wish is his command.

I am sure Trump has contacted Spitty for his wall.

I hate this lull after all the festivities.
Now we have to wait until Valentine’s day, for some heartwarming.

AS you all know, I volunteer in a care home, for those with dementia, it breaks my heart when the residents no longer know their husbands or wives. I cannot imagine how that must feel. It is a very cruel thing, memory loss.

Sorry, on a lighter note the days are getting longer, and the Spring is drawing near. I can’t wait.

The last international wall I built was in Asia, an oriental chap rang me up and said “Spitwe can yew bwild us a good wall”, I said certainly fine sir, I can build you a “Great Wall”, me old china.

After just eight months service, my Daughter is now my Wife’s boss.:lol:

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Really???

Yes, the Daughter has Spitty’s work ethic.
