You’re right we do have some really good restaurants in the UK. NYC is the only place I had good meals in the US. But I haven’t been there since the late 80s so that might have changed too. The mid West seems to drown everything with melted cheese to hide the lack of flavour.

This page provides one aspect of dangerous which is homicide levels. All the worst 30 are in south america or south africa … except Memphis. Baltimore, Detroit and Michigan also slip into the worst 50. Not a single European city in the worst 50.
If you think European cities are dangerous then don’t read below the section on most dangerous countries. This is a list of worst towns and cities around the world. A bad homicide per 100,000 population is above 10. The US cities dominate the 5-50 homicides per 100,000. European cities only rate 5 per 100,000 - both in Lithuania. And Marseilles is the only Western Europe city showing on this ranking.

Yes, your statement was wrong. None of the half dozen European cities that even compare to US cities are in the UK. Have a look at the table.
And even those European cities that are a little bit dangerous are much, much less dangerous than the majority of US cities. In summary, you are much safer going to any European city than pretty much every US city.

My experience has revealed that 99% of US territory is uninhabited by humans. It may be on a large land mass but most of it isn’t used. It would be interesting to know who owns all the barren land. Perhaps some of it isn’t even mapped.
