I'm currently in hospital and what a mess it is

I am writing this from my hospital room right now. Our medical systems are in such diabolical mess it is beyond all & any human comprehension. Apathy and incompetence are in plague proportions. I could probably write non stop for a week easily of recent errors in my medical treatment. As of 2 days after a serious altercation 1 nurse is now forever banned from ever coming near me again both by me & by Authorities here. Today already this morning I was taken from between the MANY staff in and out of my room to go via the dungeon passageways of this hospital to where I was to have a CT scan ( one of numerous similar tests in last week ). Once down there I was asked what i was there for as they could find NOTHING in the book and tel calls they made also resulted in NO-ONE being able to provide any answers. Result was a tour of the hospital, back to my ward. This all after, for totally unrelated reasons another procedure being halted earlier this morning and staff rushing in with ECG in panic mode due IMHO caused almost certainly by inappropriate nursing staff actions & that later supported by a heart specialist after he discussed it with me. I won’t say more than already today INCORRECT medications were ONCE AGAIN provided which I refused and again a diffeent specialist again confirmed I was correct. Well this is a super super super condensed version of the most recent of events here. In fairness I must add that amongst this mega shitpile there are SOME staff who are worth their weight in GOLD.!! Finding or encountering the right ones however is HUGE issue. Fred.

Nothing but a dysfunctional merry-go-round.
Health systems the world over are crumbling.
Staff are put under tremendous pressures. I am amazed more have not walked away.
Take your time, Fred, question and double check everything. We don’t want to lose you through someone’s incompetence or apathy

Sorry to hear that you are in hospital Fred, if they are anything like our hospitals (and they sound remarkably similar) get out as soon as you can. That’s good advice from Bretrick, so don’t put anything in your body that you aren’t sure about. Make a nuisance of yourself, it’s the only way to get the proper treatment, and I hope you are better soon and can go home. All the best mate…

this is what happens when the tories restructure then restructure then restructure again as well as creating massive confusion because they hate the NHS

Too many chiefs concerning themselves with diversity instead of doing their job…Headless chickens spring to mind…

Maybe I’ve been lucky but my hospital hospitals have worked quite well.

I recall the diversity agenda is government policy which it has instructed all government and arms length bodies to implement. Goes back to the Equality Act 2010. My understanding is that under that act public bodies have a legal duty to have an equality, diversity and inclusion strategy that is implemented.

Sorry to hear you are in hospital and not satisfied with your treatment, Old Bloke. I hope things improve for you and you are better soon.

Possibly so. I did have one hospital that was most of the day. They actually managed to delay the treatment until about 11:30 instead of 9:00. By that time the traffic wardens got me for getting a ticket. Mind you that was one event over twenty years ago…

You know what Fred, its probably all our cast offs that are on strike for more money, but its been said since they have been on strike, that less patients are actually dying.

@OldBloke - I’m so sorry to hear you are in hospital - and shocked at the poor treatment you are receiving.

I am used to hearing criticism of our National Health Service in U.K. but I didn’t realise things were so bad in Australia.

I do hope things improve for you soon and that you are soon fit and well enough to go home.
Take Care. xx

better service in the remote country hospitals usually in oz - been in one a few times - couldn’t speak more highly??

When I read your post I just assumed this was the NHS. But very shocking that Australia has such poor healthcare these days. They have always been used as a model for other healthcare systems.

I’m sorry you are unwell and having a bad experience in hospital.

I have been in hospital couple of times over last few years and my husband quite recently - we had no bad experiences.

I guess it varies.

No guessing about it July, as reinforced once again within the last minute here by an upper level medical staff person directly in front of me.
It can be far more serious too when critical meds are constantly screwed up risking death.
If you are genuinely oblivious as you appear i recommend you research current medical statistics. I could add MUCH more but obviously not here.

No I am not oblivious.

Experiences vary.

That hasnt been my experience or the experience of people I know.
