I am introducing a post for your photographs with the theme - Seen Better Days

Refurbishment seems a big word for something looking like it has to be rebuilt from scratch. Was there anything you could preserve and reuse?

This is the House refurbished, which we lived in for 2 years.

Just a small section. I’ll have to show the whole lot. Even the case the bits are in has seen better days. It’s my old tool case that I bought for work when I went self-employed. that was about 37 years ago.

Note the artistic arrangement of ‘OXO’ :slightly_smiling_face:

What a lovely house Susie
what made you decide to move
its adorable.

I am surprised the Powerhouse is being used for something, one in Sydney is used as the Museum of Fire and another as the imaginatively named Powerhouse Museum.

Alas the Powerhouses I worked at have, in the main, been knocked down, Pyrmont Power Station was replaced by the Star Casino. Others lie unused but still full of the original equipment, that seems to be the common fate of my work places, The PO Tower in London still has the same equipment I worked on, just unused and 60 years older, I fear they are trying to tell me something.

Hi Summer, it was too cold, no insulation, it was an Grade II Listed building so you couldn’t change anything inside or outside the House, the House was originally built in 1560, it was lovely inside full of beams and a ghost, also we were living in a close of 6 properties and it was like a clique they all gathered around gossiping about people and we didn’t fit in with them and the neighbours were horrible, so we left and i’m glad we did.

There was talk of converting it into flash accommodation but the cost is prohibitive.
Concrete cancer and asbestos. Has been declared a Heritage Building so it will probably sit there as an eyesore for another couple of decades.

I have posted South Fremantle Power Station which has seen better days.
Here is East Perth Power Station, also has Seen Better Days

When I took this picture a week ago a lady drove past and stopped in front of my car.
She alighted from her car holding her hand up in a stop gesture. She came up to my window, “Why are you photographing this house? What is your purpose”?
“Why would you care if I am photographing an old house”? I respond.
“I am the owner”
“When I see derelict and dilapidated objects I like to photograph them.”
“Oh, so you do it for a hobby”?
“Correct”
“Ok, you can go now”
What pretentiousness

This worn out cottage on acreage has Seen Better Days.

that’s why it’s seen better days the owner had too!

Bought these tomatoes from Tescos, didn’t taste great, thought I might make a sauce but never got around to it.

When buying seconds - or in this case - thirds - must be used immediately.
