The mighty White Castle near Abergavenny Monmouthshire .
It’s one of 3 castle known as the sister castles . Built by the English to keep the Welsh down and out !
I visited this April the weather was gorgeous.
I suppose it becomes expensive to upkeep ancient monuments when illegal immigrants are pouring in too? - they won’t be visiting them as tourists perhaps?
They are maintained in a manner to keep their integrity…
The destruction occurred many 100s of years ago , later being pillaged by locals the stones used to build villages .
Spot on about the tourists
Here another of the sister castles Skenfrith Castle, not a lot left just part the keep and curtain wall
sad in a way our history crumbling before our very eyes - mind so slow hardly noticeable until its no longer there?
Certainly have Seen Better Days. Thank you for sharing.

The van has definitely seen days better than this one…
Flames underneath. Yes, Seen Better Days
I read a fascinating book about the Queenhithe and its still in our bookcases.
Possibly electric Mart…I understand this happens a lot with electric vehicles.
Lithium Battery technology has quite a few question marks against it…
There is or maybe now was, a ship on fire because one electric car’s battery went up in flames. News about it has been very scant, no I wonder why that is
Sorry off topic
Thats propaganda by spread by the flat earth society.
A Freedom of Information request submitted by Air Quality News revealed that the London Fire Brigade tackled 54 EV fires in 2019, compared with 1898 fires involving petrol or diesel cars. True, there are far more petrol and diesel cars on London roads than EVs, but this still means there were proportionally fewer electric car fires than fires involving ICE cars.
That would make one of my grandsons cry d00d. He is a huge admirer of all Morris Garages cars and Austin Healys. He has only just finished a complete and immaculate rebuild of his AH 100-6 that’s now worth a small fortune of around £60k+👍
Yes I saw that LongDriver, and also while watching ‘Trucking Hell’ last week they were called out to a transporter that was carrying Electric Vehicles and suffered the same fate as the container ship. The fireman said that it was impossible to put the fire out, just stop it spreading. apparently when the fire was out, they have to transport the EV’s upside down so the fire doesn’t start again.
Apparently petrol and diesel vehicles are 20 times more likely to catch fire then and EV , although it’s true, an electric vehicle fire can be extremely dangerous.
The trouble is Ripple, it’s nigh on impossible to put the fires out, unlike conventional vehicle fires.
Sorry Ripple…posts crossed…
That is a huge problem Foxy. Part of my family’s business owns and runs a vehicle recovery company. That division cannot recover a fully electric or hybrid vehicle until the huge battery has been completely disconnected and made safe. Until that is completed, the long tail back becomes a complete jam. It’s a nightmare for everyone concerned including the police etc!!
That can’t be right, I have seen Youtube videos of the AA recovering EV that were driven until they ran out of battery. For example:
(scroll to the very end)
Yes, that’s correct Bruce, they are not allowed to transport them with the battery still connected. But for just flat batteries…
The AA don’t recover them Bruce, they charge them up from a diesel generator in the back of their vans.
