Hammer's odds 'n' ends

Another beautiful one, thanks, you’ve probably gathered I like that type of music

Hi Marian,
You may like this, the music is by Deuter. This track is from the exceptional album: Garden of the Gods. The vocalist featured is the astonishigly good, Annette Cantor.

Temple of Silence

Thanks George enjoyed that, also liked the clouds in the video. The music woke the cat up!

One form the delightful Katie Melua.
This is from her very nice and still worth buying 2007 album: Pictures.

Love that one of Katie Melua. I actually have that album as well but have not played it in a while. Did you see her on tv the other day? She’s back after taking time out, with a new album and she sang her new single live on tv.

Hi Marian
I missed seeing her on the TV but have ordered the new album: Secret Symphony, I still prefer the audio CD’s to MP3 downloads.
As well as the Pictures album I have Piece by Piece and The House, both of which are very good.

This is one from The House. Not too sure about the blokes running about like that though.

The Flood

Thanks for that George, I enjoyed listening to it and as for the men running around, very strange!!

I think the quality you get with CDs is better than MP3 downloads. Hope you like her new album

A bit of a change now, one from my old mates Status Quo.
Probably lost any musical credibility but hey I just like it.
Not sure if I have posted it before, I have been spending a lot of time rowing down the Hades river Lethe and that is not a good place to be.
Still remember that great concert in Montreux a couple or three years ago so not all that dusty.

Anyway, this is from the album: Quid Pro Quo.

Rock on.

Rock ‘n’ Roll ‘n’ You

A young lady of immense talent, sadly called far, far too early at 33 years of age.
Looking back I think it was young Wogan on a radio show that brought her to my attention. I have a couple of her albums and they still get an airing especially at certain times.

I wonder if folks will remember some of the so called talent of today in 16 years time? somehow I doubt it.

Songbird

Enjoyed listening to that George. Don’t really know much about her, actually hadn’t come across her until Katie Melua did something with her digitally. Didn’t realise she was so young when she died. Listening to Status Quo now

Hello Marian, I seem to remember Katie doing a cover but I could be wrong, Eva had an natural voice, I cannot think of a bad track on the stuff I have of hers.

Michael Bolton has done one of these remastered things of hers and I find that eerie.

Enjoy the Quo, that Pictures concert was something else.

A little soothing for a Saturday.
Edita Gruberova sings the well known Aria from Bellini’s Norma.

O pure Goddess, who silver
these sacred ancient plants,
turn thy beautiful semblance on us
unclouded and unveiled…
temper, o Goddess,
the brave zeal
of the ardent spirits,
scatter on the earth the peace
thou make reign in the sky…

Casta Diva

Very nice George, listened to most of it, but for some reason it wouldn’t stop buffering so it was a bit disjointed. I usually have to let the clip run to the end first and then play and that usually works, but not this time :frowning: Have not heard of her before but she has a nice voice

Reconnected with this type of music this last week or so.

This is by the talented Liquid Mind, AKA Chuck Wild

Teach Me to Whisper

George matey, if you need some ‘chill out’ music - try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QAAZ29cvfU

Not heard of Liquid Mind before, I imagine it would be good to meditate to, enjoyed it, thanks

Another airing for the Floyd, a while back but from the excellent PULSE tour and subsequent DVD’s.
Still stands out as one of the best concerts I ever was at.

Remembering the superb Richard Wright who was lost to us all far too soon, thanks Rich, sorely missed.
RIP

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I’d something more to say.

Home
Home again
I like to be here
When I can

When I come home
Cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones
Beside the fire…

Time

My old chemo buddy; and fellow music lover recently recommended a performance of Verdi’s Nabucco or Nebuchadnezzar, performed by the Metropolitan back in 2001.
This excerpt is the ‘Va Pensiero Sull’Ali Dorate’ and is well worth a look and listen, it is quite moving.

Chorus Of The Hebrew Slaves

Yes George matey, truly a magnificent chorus. Have been to Egypt and visited the temple of Karnak in Luxor. Some years ago they performed this opera actually on site at the Temple where Verdi actually set his opera (it was included in one of the ‘Bond’ films also).

George, enjoyed both of these. Recognised the words to the Pink Floyd one straight away, really enjoyed watching the video and also loved the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, have heard it lots but never seen a video of it. Thanks for posting
