Hammer's odds 'n' ends

I am so pleased you liked Marian.
I have always had a love of her stuff. A nice Christmas album to look out for is, A Midwinter Night`s Dream Released back in 2008, I think.

This track is also superb albeit a little long. From the 1991 album: The Visit.

The lady of Shalott

The final one of hers today is from the 1994 album: The Mask And Mirror. This track also featured a lot in the rather seedy thriller ‘Jade’ which ‘starred’ David Caruso amongst others. The song is a great deal better than the film deserved that is certain.

Thanks for posting some more links George. I loved them both especially the lady of Shallott. Will have a look at the Christmas one that you mentioned. Thanks again

Thanks for your company on this music thread it has been good, keep listening.

George.

Cheerio

George, can’t believe that you are really leaving this forum! I saw your comment in the Eileen thread and thought you were going away for a few days!

I have really enjoyed listening to your odds n ends and will miss your posts!

Hopefully you will come back, please…

Marian

Yes I was wondering what that was all about too Hammer. If some comment offended you just ignore it and move on, you’re made of sterner stuff, or if you need time to think, take a break but for God’s sake don’t leave!, where’s the Cowdenbeath spirit?, take a rethink, please.
Jimmy.

Dont leave us now Hammer, you have a lot of friends here, we have lost a good friend tonight, please dont go now. Annie

A piece for reflection perhaps.

The words are Desiderata from Max Ehrmann. The music by Samuel Barber.

"I should like, if I could, to leave a humble gift – a bit of chaste prose that had caught up some noble moods.

Adagio for Strings

I’m not one for poetry as a rule, but those words were wonderful. The music was’nt too bad either! Great scenery, wonder where that was? Welcome back Herr Hammer!

What a pleasant surprise Hammer, good to hear from you, I hope you’re in the pink!.

Nice to see you back Hammer, that’s one of my favourite pieces of music :-D:-D

Loved it and thank you Hammer. I’ve saved it in favourites because I sometimes need reminding of the message these words bring.

Lovely words and music George.

Another one from Michael Hoppe, it is once again from the 2003 import album: Solace.
Folks will think its the only disc I own but it is really that good with not a duff track on it.

Romance For Violin And Orchestra

Enjoyed listening to that George, it was very relaxing

I also enjoyed that, George …and as Marian said, it’s very relaxing.

George is that really youlad, oh I hope so, have been off for a few days and had to check if it was real, Annie.

Hi Annie, yes I am afraid it is me, the original bad penny.
Mr Wenger asked me to return as the space and time equilibrium was being disturbed too much and the Arsenal need a result or two.

May I offer this track from Loreena McKennitt.
It is an old one that she wrote whilst aboard The Trans-Siberian Express and released it on the ‘Book Of Secrets’ album. The album was originally released in 1997 but surfaced again in 2006 and 2009.

If the beginning sounds familiar it comes from the superb Easter Hymn called Alleluia. Behold the Bridegroom performed by The St Petersburg Chamber Choir.

It all turned out rather nice really.

Another nice one from Loreena, am really getting to like her, thanks for link

“It is an old one that she wrote whilst aboard The Trans-Siberian Express”

George matey, an epic journey - one I made too in January 1983.

This is from the film Gladiator.
The work is by Hans Zimmer, perhaps the best composer of film soundtrack in the world today and it features of course the most extraordinary voice of Lisa Gerrard.
