Going for a heart scan next week

My scar on my neck is pure white too. From over 8 years ago…I was advised not to get sun on it? Its in the crease of my neck so not too obvious, but still…I know its there.

Adobe.shop elements any good for you?

Can I ask what the scar on your neck is a result…I’m nosy…

It’s ok,Besoeker, I’ll leave it as it is ,thanks.

Thyroid cancer, Pauline. I had two operations and a dose of radioactive therapy. I had no idea what a thyroid even was before they told me it was in big trouble, and whisked it out pronto. I’m fine now though, thanks to medication

I last had it checked about 15 years ago. I did a lot of running after that and I was fine but I don’t think I’m made to do marathons and it’s probably a good job I was stopped by injuries such as my achilles tendon ongoing issues. I read you can get an enlarged heart if you over do it. Probably a good job I quit smoking too.

I don’t have symptoms and the doctors don’t seem to take it seriously if I mention it as I am not symptomatic and the test results were insignificant.

I was misdiagnosed at age 6. A paediatrician got excited hearing the murmur and I was referred to a specialist for all sorts of tests and x rays. They said it was a hole in the heart which would close as I grew up. I had absolutely no symptoms and was the most energetic crazy kid so there was no effect on my life. I only found out in my 30s that the murmur was still there and down to a valve. I guess that in the 1970s they didn’t have the same diagnostics as they do now.

Yes indeed, my mothers heart was enlarged…not sure about mine, I will ask when I speak to consultant.

I believe your murmur needs to be checked Annie…when was it last checked? 15 yrs I see ,it needs checking again.

They should be monitoring it imo.

Fairy 'nuff…

Sorry Pixie, how I missed this post I don’t know.

Crikey girl, that was a biggy!!..my mother also had problems with her thyroid,I was very young at the time, she lost so much weight she told me when I was old enough to understand, she had the thyroid removed…I think she said thyroid glands, can’t remember though.
Mine is very prominent and was apparently over active, but they haven’t mentioned it in years.

So glad you are ok girl…and they caught that nasty cancer,

Consultant has just rang me regarding my echo, all is well, my heart isn’t enlarged, have to stay on apixaban and the Bisoprolol, unless my heart rhythm worsens, she doesn’t want to see me for another 2 years…well pleased and relieved.

That’s good news, Pauline.

Thanks Mags, I’m well pleased.

She explained that I will still get the occasional palpitations, due to mitral valve leaking for those number of years…

Great news pauline…
So they did manage to find a heart?..:surprised:

The echo I had about 3 weeks ago was fine too, so I can understand the relief Pauline.

Oh how glad you must feel Pauline to cast the worry aside .

Excellent news Pauline :023:

That is good news Pauline
Due to Covid I had to have my last Echo privately or to wait 6+ months.
Having it done privately I got a copy , very interesting .

Reading that OGF reminds me so much of a close family member from my childhood days. She didn’t like me very much so sent me a birthday card with the wording:

Here it comes, there it goes, bless your heart it never shows!

:039: To the subject of the OP though, that positive result is good news Pauline,
I guess it takes a lot of concern off your mind.

That’s great news Pauline.

Thanks OGF,
