Ghosts: What use are they?

Yes it is, and I make no bones about it. :skull: :bone: :bone:

Ghosts might have a history of putting people into an asylum :scream:, but that is no reason to grant it to them. :018:

They come in handy when your sheets are dirty. Except for those pesky holes. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s because we encounter a weak point in a different dimension. Time/space theory is not my forte but they say time is not linear, it has kinks and bends so it is an illusion of ours that there is a past and present because that is just how our minds work. Doubtless we hit other time periods by accident although we cannot really perceive it as normal reality. So ghosts are IMO when we see into a different dimension where time is weak or thin or has sensitive spots. the Matrix comes to mind too.

They feel the same about us.

But they have had their turn at being here, and we have nowhere else to go. I really don’t think we should put up with them. I’m sick of having to check inside the wardrobe and under the bed every night. They don’t have to worry about me turning up uninvited in their world, at least not until I’m one of them.

Bread , many years ago there was a paranormal investigation documentary inside borley church the camera crew sat for a whole night in the back with the sound and camera running , it was fascinating , things thrown at them , banging of doors , movements and unpleasant feelings. Eventually the team packed up terrified and left the place early morning . Again I’d loved to have been there .

If you do any investigations keep me informed .

We used to walk to Borley Church in the summer during lockdown. Its a really nice walk through the meadows.

When I was about 13/14 I read all the books on Borley Rectory by Harry Price and I was really intrigued about the goings on in the Rectory and the Church. I now live about 2 miles away from Borley and when I was in the pub in Melford about a year or so ago (the one Harry Price stayed at) there was the latest book by Edward Babbs (The Final Analysis) for sale, signed by the author. I’m in two minds over the hauntings at Borley but bought the book anyway. I’ll get round to reading it soon when I finally unbox it from the house move in September.

I’ve spent hours looking for the graves of the Bull family in the churchyard too but haven’t yet uncovered them. The old rectory burned down decades ago and now has 2 bungalows built on the edge of the site with open fields to the back. It no longer looks anything like the pictures in the book unfortunately.

Brown Lady of Raynham Hall

Dorothy was the sister of Sir Robert Walpole, the first prime minister of Great Britain.

In 1936, a photographer taking pictures of the 300-year-old Raynham Hall in Norfolk, U.K., captured an image of an apparition floating down the stairs. It’s one of the most famous ghost photos ever taken, although some experts believe it was caused by double exposure.

The manor, covering an area of 7,000 acres (2,833 hectares), has a long history of being haunted, and the BBC notes that the ghost may be of Lady Dorothy Townshend, the wife of the second viscount of the estate. She died in 1726, supposedly of smallpox, after having an affair, which her husband Lord Townshend had learned about before her death. She is said to still wander the manor dressed in brown.

Do you have the name of the documentary please ? I’ll see if I can find it somewhere and have a watch tonight.

I watched it on TV it was something like The haunting of Borley church . The filming was done in the church not the rectory. I’m going back 30 odd years .

Edited to say maybe 20 years ago ( Iost track of time) I’ve just looked on you tube and I cant find the actual documentary

Found Harry Price website.

When I’m dead I intend to behave appropriately, and that does not include shuffling somebody’s cups and saucers around while they are in bed, or switching their telly back on. :018:

If I were, I would only visit forums for ghosts, and I’m quite looking forward to that. I have heard they are far less restrictive than forums for the living, and you are still allowed to post images on them no matter how badly you behave.

How can you ask me that, Minx; when did you ever hear of a ghost as lovable as me? :sunglasses:

Actually - have just realised - ghosts can be useful - they keep unwelcome visitors away!!
