Repeating myself again for the sake of Realist my hubby stopped getting flu when he started taking the jab. I never had flu before or after the jab, no-one I know who goes for the flu jab ever gets it…can this be the end of this weary thread.
Trouble is Gabi, some people won’t let go of an argument, they find it an insurmountable problem to just say “I beg to differ” and leave it at that. I have a brother exactly the same, and it is soooooooooo tiresome.
On the other hand, if others would stop keep feeding them with more of their own opinions, it would soon cease.
Unfortunately, one person’s anecdotal experience is not sufficient to call evidence for things as important as vaccines or medications especially if they contain toxic substances.
Scientific controlled and systematic studies are what count and those studies clearly highlight that the vaccine only improves your chances a tiny tiny amount, in the order of 1%.
There are people even in this thread who testify that people who have had the jab still caught the flu. You appear to be discounting their testimonies on the basis that you don’t personally know them.
Personally I don’t care whether anyone here has the jab or not. I’m simply saddened that so many do so without doing the appropriate due diligence on the vaccines but it’s their lookout. If people don’t want to research and prefer to be hand-held by institutional representatives who have to tow the party line, then good luck to them.
The purpose of my posts is to highlight the available research and allow those with interest to peruse and comment. No-one is forcing anyone to have the jab or to not have the jab. I am simply presenting the facts that are available but which some will likely not have seen.
I note that we are 7 pages into this thread and yet there has not been one single citation of an independent scientific study that suggests that the flu vaccine is statistically beneficial. Yet people are vehemently defending the vaccine.
Odd behaviour TBH but each to their own.

AT LAST !!!
Why do you refer to the thread as an “argument”?
It is merely a developing discussion on the merits/efficacy of the flu vaccine. There are different views being expressed and if we are objective, we learn from the process of hearing those views. There is no argument here. There’s a lot of angst and emotion from some people who appear unhappy that independent studies are highlighting that the vaccines are largely useless but so what? The aim of debate and discussion is to exchange views and ideas, to counter one idea with another and so on.
I don’t understand why people are so uptight. If they believe the vaccine is extremely potent and statistically beneficial then put up the link to the independent studies that confirm this.

There you go again - still arguing.
The aim of debate and discussion is to exchange views and ideas, to counter one idea with another and so on.
But you do go on and on and on Realist, and you don’t seem to know when it’s better to give it a rest. IMO.
I don’t understand why people are so uptight.
Who’s uptight? I am perfectly relaxed about this, thankyou.
I almost find it quite amusing in a way.
Nope not arguing. I’m open for discussion, ready and willing to hear sound evidence backed views as to why the flu jab has any merit.
Similarly I’m still waiting for your explanation in the “Healing Energy” thread as to what the “energies” are that you spoke of and the “guides” and the purpose of crystals. You seemed to just abandon that thread when rational questioning ensued which was kinda disappointing as I was hoping for your explanation.
I do agree with you Mups, some folks do go on and on about the same thing, reminds me of old Mister Mckenzie in that old soup ad “I’ll get more into this can if it kills me”
Even though though I’ve only ever had propper flu once, years ago, I’ve had the flu jab ever since I was old enough, and have never had any trouble. My husband always refused because his brother put him off and I was talking to a friend earlier on Facetime who lives in France and he said when I asked him if he was going to have one, over my dead body, and I knew that would be his answer, as he’s anti any sort of chemicals.
The surgery used to have walk in days when you queued up on the day and time you wanted. But this year you’ve go to ring the surgery to make an apt with once of the practice nurses.
I wonder why that is Jainie my surgery is having the usual ‘walk throught’ with batch appointments this year so you are in there for just a few moments.
Well don’t hold your breath Realist.
I told you I was out of that thread, and when I say that, I mean it. I do not owe you explanations for what I want to do.
Thankyou Jem. I’m glad someone can see my point.
Thanks for the pointer Meg :-), checked with my surgery this morning and they have stopped sending out letters this year (cost cutting) and I was able to make appointments for my husband and myself for this Saturday morning, 11.30am
Rang my surgery yesterday - have appointment for the 'flu jab on Saturday morning 3rd.October.
Booked in for my Asthma check up, was expecting an appointment in about 5 weeks time and she said next week, could not do as I am away so booked in for the week after. All sorted.
Bit like long posts:-(
I’m stumped as to how Realist turn this thread into a debate…go start your own thread to debate.
It is called ‘Flu jab time’ self explanatory to all who go for it every year and just a reminder that now was the time to book it.
Unfortunately I’ve had to cancel our flu jabs for tomorrow morning due to my husband being immobile again with severe pain in his legs. I’ve made another appointment provisionally for 8th Oct, hoping he will be moving again by then.
Oh dear Mags I am sorry to hear that I hope your husband will be more mobile soon.
Twas not me TBH Gabi.
It began when Meg said she waited for the chest infection season and the Malcolm quite correctly highlighted that the flu jab was aimed at viruses not infections and the debate ensued from there.
Regardless I think in an open forum, if you are going to raise a topic, especially a controversial health related topic, then you must expect some healthy debate to ensure.
It’s clear that despite the debate thus far, that you are still intent on having the flu jab as are a few others.
I am genuinely curious to know your reason for this. Is it because:
a) You simply don’t believe the scientific research that I provided links to
b) You DO believe the research but think a 1 in 100 chance of the vaccine benefitting you is a large enough chance to warrant having it anyway and worth the adverse risks of the bad ingredients
c) You simply want to ignore the factual evidence because it doesn’t support your current perceptions and you are happier pretending it doesn’t exist
