Film - the most recent you have seen?

That’s one reason why I’m a fan of DVDs Rose, they are kind of collectable :+1:

Stangers When We Meet 1960 film
I like all of the actors in this one!

Watched it a few nights ago. Enjoyed it thoroughly, didn’t like the ending.

I quite miss those days when, as a family, we used to go strolling around in the DVD rental stores, choosing films. We had a Blockbuster shop in town, I think I still have our membership card.
I actually remember one of the first video cassettes I hired from the Holloway Odeon video rental store way back in early 90s, it was the romantic comedy Mannequin, don’t know if anyone remembers it.

Our local library has racks of DVDs, both older classics, historical, documentaries, National Geographic, and the newest films out from two months after their release!
You can borrow them for two weeks, and take up to three at a time!

I love our library! Oh, and did I say I worked there for 10 years as admin. asst. to the director before being employed for the last 10 years at the State Police before I retired. Once a library person, always a library person…I’m now on the Board of Trustees for a five year term.

They’ve spelt Sydney wrong

Close enough! Actually, your spelling gets used much more than ours at times.

Yes, I do but not very well. Without doing a Google there was a hit song at the time on the back of the film so to speak. I think my late wife got it out on VHS from Blockbuster.

If memory serves me well that was the big buff coloured building on The Holloway Road just around the corner from Holloway Prison wasn’t it?
I used to work a stones throw away from there during the 80’s

Yes, the prison was quite near that area, Lower Holloway. The cinema was near the corner of Tufnell Park Road.

I’ve just looked it up,it’s still there and now it’s become Odeon Luxe! Wow! It’s gone “up in the world”, giant improvement compared to how I remember it. It looks really grand.
I’m very pleased to see my childhood/adolescent cinema hall becoming first class!
I went to see all the Superman movies with my friends there, we’d go on Saturday afternoons.

Good grief, I had no idea…

It almost looks like an interior shot from the film Titanic! :open_mouth:

This one’s just arrived…

Once again cheap and second hand from Amazon.
Quite a classic now, very 70’s!
There’s quite a nice mellow, laid back theme tune if I remember correctly. Kind of glam lull before the storm music :notes: :open_mouth:

Oh yes, that one’s definitely one of the best, good choice Chilli. It’s one of those films you never get tired of rewatching. I don’t remember the music, I’ll look it up.
Happy viewing.

Thanks Rose!:slightly_smiling_face:
I’m saving it for Friday night. I shan’t be going near any boats on Saturday so all’s well
Yeah, the music was really nice, I’m about to look it up too :+1:
Aha! Found it. What I was thinking of was not the main theme but part of the soundtrack. The Morning After by Maureen McGovern… mellow :notes::v:

And yet another has just popped through the front door…

Not one for the popcorn buzz, saw this on the box when I was about eighteen. It made a lasting impression.
Very dark and disturbing.

Nuremberg, with Russell Crowe. Amazing film.

Okay, not technically a film but very much worth watching, especially if you have a bit of a 70’s fetish…

I’ve only seen this once on the box, very much looking forward to the embarrassing cringyness between the characters. Some things don’t change…
