Elderly people who exercise 'live five years longer'

I have taken up Short Tennis for the last 2 years and thoroughly enjoy it, being an inside activity I can play it all year round. It’s a group of elderly people for exercise and fun, I hadn’t played tennis since school days but really got into it.

A few times a week I do hula hoop whilst playing my cd which I have set up with my favourite disco music but I do get complaints sometimes from hubby if I play the music too loud when he’s downstairs and can’t hear the tv :035:

Does buying a packet of salt and shake crisps once a week count?

Yes, if you jump up and down and shake it all about :081:

Has anyone tried Sh’bam, talking of jumping and shaking it all about, I was doing this routine on Monday, good fun

I enjoyed that. A good beat to it for sure.

As for myself I just came in from running with the club - 6 miles. Club consists of mainly women and before we took off on the run we did some exercises on the field. All good fun  .

Good work MKJ, I feel a lot better for doing regular exercise and the sh’bam is an excuse to do a bit of fun dancing/jumping about.

It’s a little like our Zumba classes, but not quite as high impact…looks fun though.
I love dance exercise…exercise doesn’t feel like exercise when it’s fun to do.

Anita, I am impressed that would really suit me and it looks just a nice pace, you’re lucky to have Sh’bam in your area and will do a bit of research in my area. Did you learn the movements over several visits?

There are different steps/movements for each song so quite a lot, but you can do it from the very first class, not so well at first but getting better as you go along.
The ladies in my class are all mature ladies and we have such a good time, there are some older songs too so it takes us back to our disco days.

So excited about getting my new ‘hybrid’ bike tomorrow and start cycling again.

Brother in law will come over to collect it with me

Enjoy Rachel

Can you give us a photo Rachel? Here’s my jalopy. It was a bit of a job to fit mudguards to it because the bike is designed to be as light as possible. Managed in the end though.

If you plan to ride off-road, consider changing the tyres to ‘Dutch Perfect’ ones. Quite pricey and heavy but they never puncture. Might be considered well worth it if you ever have to stop and mend a puncture in the howling wind and rain.

That looks good … nice sensible colour too

Got my bike now  … will take pic in a while.

Claud Butler. Considered a good bike.

Hmmmm … now where have I seen one like that before ?

Here’s my new one, with cat helping

Anyone wanna buy a Muddyfox Roadrunner ?

Cracking bike but no basket?

lol … they didn’t have the nice pink one in stock
But my bike has a bell on it  and a pannier  and mudguards

I used my old basket to plant summer bedding in and hung it on the outside of the shed

Makes me think of getting one. Lot cheaper than forking out forra car.

Make sure you get a good lock and chain for it and never leave it unmanned unless chained to something, as in if you pop into a shop.
