Cork notice boards are quite useful for this sort of thing and cheap. Good for sticking stamp books on as well as the bin rota and important receipts (the ones for guaranteed items).
I don’t know how you can be so sure, Dianne.
Funny you should mention a cork board.
…It was something we used for a few months, with 5 in the Household at the time it became far too busy.
…We still have it in use here …it is used as our after shower drip board…
If I need to remember our bin collection days our council pastes it on Google. No need for cork notice notice boards.
If I want to know the bin collection day, I just glance at the fridge, no need for fancy technology.
We have no need to remember the Bin Collections, we have Waste Bins at various points around the Commune. We just recently had a large recycle one added as well.
There were always recycle bins nearby, but not always with the General Waste ones.
I can reassure you Harbie that a cork board is hardly in the class of fancy techno…
I was referring to Besoeker’s comment about looking on Google for his bin collection days.
seems your not the only male wanting the last word today…
I have a gripper fridge magnet for shopping lists, also a notepad with magnet on the back.
As for bin collection days, I enter blue or black on the relevant Tuesday, usually a few months at a time, on my calendar. I can then see it at a glance. Blue being recycling, black for normal rubbish.
If I need to remember is what I said.
But I don’t actually need to.
Handy having the leaflet on a cork board downstairs near the front door in case you forget. This is a bit faster than having to boot up and mess about with the website. We have to put the postcode in and then it’s another three clicks to get to the right page because if it’s the collection day they don’t display the information of that date. They display the next week’s collection as they assume it’s already made. Particular pain with the garden waste as it’s once a fortnight on a different day of the week from the others. So usually there is very little time in between hearing the lorry and working out if it’s the right date.
I think I would file all this under First World Problem.
I don’t think it’s the first, Psmith.

Probably so. But I don’t forget that. Nor many things like that. When I need things like addresses I Word for example. For communications I use email. It’s an easy to keep records.
I do all this too but I do forget which collection is happening on which week because of the fortnightly changes, not just the green waste, but also the non recycled waste. I like to keep email records too but the phone only keeps the most recent. I guess the ultimate technological answer would be Alexa but I refuse to get one of those.
Or a British problem because in France I recall you have to walk to a big communal recycling bin which is halfway down the street. I’m not sure the bin men come directly to properties at all there. Here we are given wheellie bins and what is really a great service in comparison with other countries.
Excellent! We are currently looking for a new moderator with insight.
Which .bin on the alternate weeks is which one is the fullest. That seems to be the easiest way to deal with it.
