Decided to stay put (rather than move)

The surveyor came back, along with 4 men from the environmental dept.
They dug two holes out and found tree roots in both holes.
They took loads of soil samples away for lab testing to identify the trees, so they know for sure which ones are causing my problems.
I hasten to add here, I personally, haven’t got one single tree in my garden, they are all neighbours trees.
I am hoping to get the reports back in a couple of weeks time.

Fingers crossed for you Mups

Thanks alot Myrtle. x

Oo, I wonder if you can get compensation if they are someone else’s tree roots? Keeping everything crossed! x

Will let you know more when I get my copy of the reports back. x

must be hell living in UK with all those trees!!

I love greenery around me Gummy, but just not THAT close!

You OK, Gummy?

yep OK - son and fam arriving in a few days when we will indulge in cuban cigar smoking and bourbons!

and just about to buy a lovely 8 acre bush property to hide further away!

I will be surrounded by huge boab trees and have own resident collection of snakes and kangas

So pleased you’ve gotten to the ‘root’ of the problem Mups :-p

Well I hope you have good foundations then!

Well I feel a bit more hopeful Patsy, but will reserve judgement until I get the reports back.

Wise - very wise …

Well, I’ve been chasing the surveyor this week to get some up to date information out of him.
Finally this morning, he e.mailed me and said the latest reports are back and he has OK’d them now. Apparently they have found Cypress, Walnut and Willow roots under my house! I hasten to add here, I haven’t got any trees at all, they are all neighbours trees. Now they are writing to all the third parties about their trees.
He has told the men to get their fingers out, who were supposed to be putting the markers in the exterior walls to monitor movement, and is also sending me the copies of the reports I asked for.

An on going palaver by the looks of it. . .

I hope the trees don’t have a Tree Preservation Order on them. Some people who live down the road from me, have a really old Beech tree at the front of their garden and the roots are going into their pipes and under their house but because the tree has a TPO on it they can’t remove it.

[/B]

I can’t understand that Artangel, because I would have thought their insurance company would soon sort that out, because they’re the ones who will have to cough up if damage is done, and they don’t like paying out if they can help it!

Round the corner from me no less than 8 trees with TPO’s have just successfully been removed for builders, with council permission.
Those TPO’s can be removed if necessary.

Watson pass me the file on the mysterious journey of the meandering roots

Ah I see I see those roots were rogue roots seeking to find fresh pastures to nurture the mother trees. Remember Watson we had to dig up an entire garden to establish the true identification of the roots. “what happened then Holmes”? – well Watson a decision was made that the roots must be severed. However this was overturned by a court injunction on the basis that cutting the said roots would result in the death of other peoples trees!! “well and then Holmes”? Ah Watson then we must turn to the file of “the mysterious disappearance of fully grown trees”!!

Oh shut up Gummy, you daft old wotsit.

I’m not sure yet, but I think they will be asked to remove the trees altogether, as chopping the roots won’t stop them re-growing.
My next door neighbour has now said her conservatory floor seems to be ‘tipping’ forward too! And they found the weirdo bloke the other side had a manhole full of tree roots too. He’s got a garden full of cypress trees, so I’m not surprised.
Good job I didn’t start re-building a while back isn’t it. I almost did, because the previous surveyor said there were NO roots. Now who do I believe???
What a nightmare this has all been. I’ll be glad when its all over. :frowning:

Mups, I do feel for you. I hope you can get it sorted soon.
I am surrounded by trees but they are quite a way from my bungalow. I hate this time of the year for all the leaves I have to pick up plus, remove them from my guttering.
I must ask the lady down the road about the tree with a TPO.

but surely the trees on our planet are the lungs of the planet - you will be slicing out parts of the earths lungs FGS - you must be a smoker cos they don’t care!!

Oi leave them trees alone. :frowning:
