You should be notified no later than 12 weeks after the first vac. I received my invite at 11 weeks. My first vac was on 9th Jan.
the people who get sick as a dog like I did probably aren’t in any mood to download an app and report daily symptoms. The "not unusual " assertion they give is tosh because I’ve never reacted like this to any vaccine. The only reason I am tolerating it is because it’s such a nasty disease and we have no choice on which vaccine we get, but in hindsight they won’t say AZ is similar to other vaccines. It took me a couple of weeks to get over it and although I’m much better I’m still not 100%.
My daughter (immunosuppressed) and I (over 55) had our first Pfizer vaccine on Thursday as the second phase is underway. She had a sense of face swelling and some facial numbness (unusual but not a concern) and we both had increasingly sore arms the day after but the second day all was well.
The vaccines are in ample supply for those who want them. I looked up the local pharmacy online, and signed up for appointments the same day.
It was so easy, that it worries me that people who are eligible are choosing not to get the shot. I hope I am wrong.
Donkeyman, Yes, that’s true but even so, it would have been reassuring to at least been given a date for the next one.
Mags, It is exactly 12 weeks today since l had the first Pfizer vaccination on Sunday 24th January.
It states in the text l received on 22nd January re. my first vaccination that…
‘The latest government guidance is that your second vaccine will be 11 weeks after your first. Your practice will contact you about this shortly.’
Art
Was told after my first jab that I would be notified for my second one.
A few friends where given the date of there second one at the first jab.
I booked my jab through my doctor and just before my second is due I have to ring my doctor to book me in for the second one.
Hope that makes sense.
Art 11 weeks after 24th of Jan will be 11th April - you should receive notice of your 2nd vac a few days before next Sunday
Hi
I got a card with a date and time on it for my second jab.
You’ve more chance getting a clot than winning the lottery jackpot!
At 18,000,000 jabs divided by 30 = 600,000 to 1 chance of developing a blood clot.
They sell on average, 50 million lottery tickets each week, and sometimes it’s a rollover, so nobody wins. So people would prefer the shorter odds of dying, when they quite happily accept far greater odds on the chance of winning the jackpot on the lottery…? You have less chance of catching and dying from covid than you have developing a blood clot from the vaccine…
Over 4 million fatal casualties across two winters from a population 68 million…17 million to 1 against dying from covid…
Hi
The chances of dying from Covid are now very small, but still there.
Things have changed hugely since January when I was in an Acute Covid watching people die.
The issue is not death now, we have moved forward on that, it is the after effects.
The so called long Covid, it is life changing and at the moment we have no cure for it.
It is having more effect on my life than the heart attacks.
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems Swim, but the chances of catching and dying from covid have always been small…And sad as it may be, dying is a fact of life, and it comes to us all eventually…
Hi
It does, I accept that.
I have no intention of dying anytime soon.
I am averaging a heart attack every 10 weeks, each one leaves me weaker, but I can cope with that.
Covid is killing me quicker, which I object to.
I have a particular set of circumstances OGF, which affect me.
We will not fall out over this, I respect your views:-).
What?
:confused2:
I think you went wrong somewhere OGF.
Here in the UK, (and I know the stat’s are suspect but still) there have been 126,826 deaths from a population of 68 million (or so) and rising.
That’s 63,929 deaths per million of the UK population.
To put it another way an almost 6.4% chance of death.
From the whole population, not just those statistically more likely to die which as I’m sure you would accept would raise that figure considerably.
We’re looking at fatalities rather than infections BTW, just as the AZ scare looks at deaths rather than the 30 incidences of clotting; those interested in the other comparison can do so themselves if they wish.
From the AZ vaccines (and BTW Pfizer’s results appear strikingly similar but aren’t being covered as much in our media as I’ve shown elsewhere) there have been 7 deaths from 18 million doses given.
Even disregarding the possibility that the deaths are unrelated to the vaccine that leaves the rate of death as follows:
Seven death per 18 million.
As above in terms of percentage that equates to around a 0.39% chance of death after taking the AZ vaccine.
The risk of death in the whole population of death by Covid-19 is therefore at least 16 times greater than after receiving the AZ vaccine.
But it isn’t that simple because risk of death rises with age … and other factors too come into play, but for simplicity’s sake there you go.
6.4% risk of death vs 0.39%.
The risk of death in the UK on average each and every year is just under one percent, for those interested.
So the risk after having a vaccine is statistically less than the average chance of death in the UK.
Mags, Me and numbers are getting worse! Honestly, l have counted the weeks twice on the calendar on my iPad and it came to 12! I wonder if l went the wrong way?
This is so embarrassing… is there a stone l can crawl under?
It hasn’t helped that others who had the vaccination after me are having their second one this week! They had AstroZeneco.
Yes, galty, Thank You.
It did make sense. I just got my arithmetic wrong!
Bob, I know you mean well but you are fortunate to live in a village with few inhabitants.
Spare a thought for those of us who live in busy cities and towns. Your chances of dying of the virus are indeed small but the rest of us are at great risk and going out is very worrying.
Please try and see it through other people’s eyes. We have approaching 500,000 inhabitants here, we need to have the vaccination to enable us to live some resemblance of a proper life again. We have had C19 cases too close to our doorstep which has been very worrying.
I could never fall out with you Swim, and I respect your views also…Just take care of yourself…
Yes, sorry Mags, accept my apologies it was insensitive of me…
I’ll be turning into a David Icke if I’m not careful…
Apologies accepted “David”!
