Oh, “her”. Yet she’s happily had brain surgery for her epilepsy. What’s the greater risk?
Anyway just to report I’m feeling fine today. Been in the garden and have sowed some seeds indoors. Nasturnium and cucumbers. Feeling pretty much normal just a few aches and pains that are getting fewer and further apart. So I seem to be the 1 in 10 that has a more moderate reaction. I’ve taken vit C, Vit D cod liver oil and had some poached eggs and baby plum tomatoes for breakfast/brunch. You certainly don’t want anything too heavy for the days following this vaccine if you react like I did. Had lots of water too so I guess hydration is very important.
Mups I would have the second jab as I now know what to expect and I’d take precautions such as making sure I’m really hydrated before the jab. But in your case you had an allergic reaction so I can understand why you’d want to avoid it. I’ve read the Moderna one has worse side effects. Of people I know the Pfizer one had the least side effects but it is contra indicated for severe allergies. I knew about the Astra zeneca risk of side effects before having it but did hope it wouldn’t be me as I don’t normally react so badly to anything. But the one I definitely did not want was moderna. Your arm can swell up and you can end up vomiting.
I guess I will never really know what happened, or why, Annie. When one doc told me it was the vaccine, and another one says it wasn’t, who do you believe??
All I know is, although the vaccine can’t be blamed for me hitting my head as I fell, the after effects of that fall are still ongoing.
My consultant sent me for a thorough hearing test at the hospital this very morning, and my neck and right shoulder is still not back to normal.
All this, and yet they would still vaccinate me again.
What I don’t understand is, if my dog is poorly, the vet won’t vaccinate until they are better, so why don’t humans get the same care??
I’m so sorry you are still having such a bad time from this experience Mups. I can’t see why it would be something else if you had the vaccine the day before because the side effects only kick in after a few hours. Although I can see why they wouldn’t see it as classic anaphylaxis as that happens within a certain time period. That doesn’t mean they can say it’s nothing to do with the vaccine. I can see why someone might lose consciousness if they had a reaction like mine or slightly worse than mine. I felt pretty out of it.
I really don’t like the things I hear about doctors in your area. If one doc said it was the vaccine then that is enough IMO to use as a reason to question the same vaccine. They have been talking about mixing and matching so maybe you are a candidate for that option perhaps having pfizer next time. That has a slight risk of anaphylaxis for people with allergies which is why they keep you in the surgery for 15 mins checking that you don’t react. But that would be a classic reaction.
I notice that the AZ vaccine now has a warning about allergies too as I was cross examined on my allergy history and it’s been in news reports.
I hope your neck and shoulder get better x
What a wimp…
.
Her epilepsy I would think required that surgery tho I doubt she “ happily “ accepted it .
I think you’re wrong about going ahead vaccinating you if you’re not well enough Mups .
Of course she did just as people require the vaccine so they don’t die of covid. Hypocritical for her to say anything else IMO. Cherry picking of medical treatments.
I think it was brave of her to have her brain operated on .
Having a vaccine which is only allegedly going to keep you not affected by COVID symptoms to have to take up a place in hospitals is rather different imo . .
You’ve sussed me out Mags…
:-d:-d:-d
I disagree Annie, overuse of some medication (especially painkillers) means the dose has to be constantly upped to give the same level of efficiency. There are some people who have been bitten by snakes that many times that their bodies can withstand a dose that would be lethal to a normal person.
Well, let’s be honest. Professional footballers spend their lives rolling on the floor, don’t they?
I’ve just learned on a local community forum that a good few people in my town that have had the AstraVeneca vaccine this week are or have been quite ill .
I read a report saying younger people had more side effects than older people. I had my first Astra Veneca vaccine round about the same time as many of my friends and I have yet to hear of any of them who had any bad reaction. In the same report it said the second dose was milder.
The ones I posted about will have been the 50-55 yr olds this week.
Ok that is different and about tolerance caused by the body going into autopilot because you give it an artificial crutch. As for snakes whatever doesn’t kill you can also kill you next time.
I was talking about antibiotics or vaccines which work to fight bacteria or viruses. If you have a local infection the rest of the body can live without antibiotics for a long time but you will feel really rough for most of that time and your infection may spread to other areas. Without medicines, antiseptics etc you can die from a cut. Without a vaccine a proportion of people would die from tetanus or smallpox or polio etc.
Or I’m sure you can put an onion in your sock and draw the poison out etc.
I had the Astra Zeneca last month, yes it made me feel very tired and a sore arm for a couple of days but its not major. I didnt really have a choice, either my daughters would have killed me if I didnt get the jab or Covid would have done as I have a rare illness and im clinically extremely vulnerable.
I have a flu jab every year so this was just another jab for another illness that I don’t want to get!
Hi
It is working.
Six weeks ago I was on a covid ward, now only 17 patients in hospital in Shropshire with it.
