Common sense is not one of the finest attributes of many of today’s PC policepersons.
This is not a recent development. For very many years our country - and others - have been primarily operated by a so-called higher level of society. It’s a club formed by the rich and influential and it’s prime objective is to guarantee they get the best possible returns. Every decision is maneuvered toward that objective. The rest of society - the workers - are of no concern other than that they are kept in a reasonable condition to work…
This was published by Wikileaks some years ago - and very frightening it was too…it has since been taken down and is no longer available…
Some think HS2 is a bargain …
Are you referring to the app which is being trialled down 'ere? If so your statement is wrong!
That is reassuring Lindyloo. I know a lot of people on the island have downloaded it. Certainly my friends have. There were reports about the battery drain and I have not had a chance to ask my friends.
Probably best to ask those who know…second-hand opinions are pretty worthless.
It was in the press apparently - on checking the telegraph. But yes I will ask my friends. They are really up for the app.
Nothing new there. Such has been the case since time immemorial.
HS2 is a complete waste of money as far as I’m concerned.
A Tory waste of money.
Admittedly, yes.
Of course, the Tory party isn’t unique when it comes to wasting our money, is it? Far from it.
They have wasted far more money than labour ever did.

Hi
Mismanagement is not only costing lives, it is costing vast amounts of money.
We need to get back to work, others are doing this much faster than us and the economic effects which will much less for them.
The lack of PPE is a farce, other countries have moved quickly, making their own and are now giving it to the public to minimise infection and opening up the economy.
This is not just a political problem, it is also a Civil Service and an NHS problem.
Unlike others, I do not consider that Labour would have done any better.
As regards the lockdown and the gypsy funeral, we simply do not have enough Police to deal with things like this.
It would have turned into a riot, many injuries and the NHS could not cope with that at the moment.
It would have diverted doctors and nurses from dealing with the genuinely ill and put NHS staff at risk.
In this instance I think it was a good call.
I am not totally enamoured with some of the Police at the present time, witness my drug dealer neighbour.
Hi
Enforcing Lockdown.
Some things others have been doing.
Closing Borders.
Not allowed to travel back without temperature checks and face masks.
Enforced self isolation for those citizens arriving back.
A minimum of 3 checks a day on where you are, compulsory to have your phone on so they can track you.
Poland is a low wage economy.
Fines for breach of lockdown here are £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.
Fines in Poland are £1000 for a first offence and the entire household is locked down for a further 14 days.
In Taiwan and South Korea you are not allowed out of your apartment block or back in without a temperature check.
You are not allowed out without a mask and not allowed on Public Transport without a mask and a temperature check.
The factories, shops and bars are open, no entry without a temperature check.
The economy is back working.
UK ‘to bring in 14-day quarantine’ for air passengers
Not before time, how could this not have been introduced before now and why at the end of the month, it could and should be introduced immediately, IMO:
"UK airlines say they have been told the government will bring in a 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving in the UK from any country apart from the Republic of Ireland in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The new restriction is expected to take effect at the end of this month."
Actually it was a Labour project and because so much money had been spent on the development it was agreed by all concerned that it should go ahead minus a few extras.
Here is an extract from wiki…
High speed rail arrived in the United Kingdom with the opening in 2003 of the first part of High Speed 1, then known as the 67-mile-long (108 km) Channel Tunnel Rail Link between London and the Channel Tunnel. The assessment of the case for a second high speed line was proposed in 2009 by the DfT under the Labour government, which was to be developed by a new company, High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd).[6]
Hi
A very sensible post OGF.
This is not the time to be making Political Points.
That will get us nowhere.
It is all about the failure of Government and the Civil Service.
That applies to all Political Parties.
Yes, I do not rate Boris and Pritti at all.
However they are better than Corbyn and Abbott.
I totally agree with you Baz! Why the delay to the end of the month?
By then almost 500,000 more potential virus spreaders will be
roaming the country?
And why is it the announcement about the proposed quarantine
come via uk airlines, surely the government should be responsible
for that?
About the only thing they have got right is their stated aim to protect
the NHS, which appears to have happened as the hospitals have
beds available now plus the nightingale hospitals have been under
utilised, so credit where its due but a what cost??
Donkeyman!
This is one of your more unambiguous posts Swimmy and l
could’nt agree more on all your points!!
you are correct it makes no difference whos idea HS2;was, it was a
shyte idea, and if one of the parties didnt do it, the other would have?
This country needs its institutions completely reconditioned imo!
