I have a feeling that our governments are not telling us everything they know about C-19.
For example, take the widely rumored idea that the C-19 will fade out beginning with warm humid weather. If we look at Brazil, with an average daily high temp of 90 F (32.2 C.) and a humidity of 59%, it becomes clear that the C-19 is continuing to multiply in spite of the heat.
If warm/hot weather does not mitigate the C-19, then I fear it will be with us for many more months yet. Perhaps even years or until a vaccine can be created, which could easily take 18+ months.
Certainly not the apocalypse, but the next worst thing.
Your figure is incorrect…
Total cases: 29474 100%
Total Deaths: 2352 7.97%
Total YET TO RECOVER: 27122 92.03%
On your calculation you need to find the stats for those in a critical condition and the percentage of critical recoveries/deaths to anywhere near accurate. Probably best not post inaccurate information which may cause distress to others…unless that’s something you wanted to do?
Sorry to say this, Galty but your figures are totally out of whack.
To obtain the death rate you must divide the number of deaths by the total number of cases.
Answer, (for the UK) = 7.97 % Which is exactly what Lindyloo said.
To get the death rate for the elderly, you would need to have the total number of cases over age (for example) 65. Then you would need to know the number of deaths of the elderly due to C-19
No one is arguing that the death rate for the elderly is not much higher, unfortunately, than the population as a whole.
The death rate for the U.S. is 2.37%
for Australia, it is .45%
Obviously, population density, and the ages of the afflicted are MAJOR factors.
Sorry Bruce I wasn’t being entirely serious. Of course disposable or regular rubber gloves are great. You can disinfect the regular heavy duty rubber gloves. They have said that if using diluted bleach it should be for half an hour minimum, but I’d assume you can just wash your hands with soap and water for the usual time whilst wearing the gloves too?
I was delighted to find a pack of 100 disposable gloves buried in the cupboard under the sink yesterday. Long forgotten purchases have become invaluable in this crisis.
The estimated death rate figure is expected to be about 3-4% but this will depend on healthcare provision and varies greatly with age. In terms of deriving a % based on the cases we know of for this country that’s going to be a total estimate because we don’t have a true figure of how many are infected. It’s all down to testing and diagnosis which isn’t equal between countries. The information is only as good as the data available.
We have a similar situation in uk Brucy, A nasty tory party applying
almost marxist socialist policies!!
So yes, how times change?
From austerity to handouts almost over night??
Handouts for the few, it’s all smoke and mirrors, I applied for universal credit and was told I’d get a fiver a week because my wife works! She doesn’t earn a lot and we don’t have an extravagant lifestyle, if we didn’t need two wages then it would be her at home, not me.
We’re being lied to again, this guy is only after looking out for his friends, this ‘we’re all in it together’ crap really annoys me, because we’re clearly not. It’s time something was done, they have already admitted that they may not treat elderly people or people with terminal conditions if they get the virus, it’s getting more like that film’ Logans Run’ every day. Put it this way, if they’re not going to treat the old folk, how about we start with that lot in the house of commons, they’re bloody useless.
Yes, This…^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
We haven’t really got a clue how many people are walking around with the infection. The figures for the deceased won’t be too far out though as all deaths are recorded and collated.
It reminds me of the French revolution when the ladies sat around knitting and watching the heads roll off the guillotine…
We are just sat around at home watching the numbers of deceased increase by the day, like some morbid game thanks to the BBC, trying to calculate what will happen next…If we survive this, at least our maths will have improved…
How on Earth did life come to this…
This should be in the ‘What Annoys You’ thread but following on from your post Sparky. I’ve heard that the banks are refusing to save some small/medium businesses saying that they don’t qualify. And when they do lend a lifeline they are charging excessive interest rates that will probably cripple businesses anyway.
And then we see adverts like this, saying ‘We will be by your side’…Bollix! The banks are not our friends and should be treated as such. Adverts like this are breaking the codes of practice…
I have sympathy with you sparky as lnhave a similar experience
with this so called universal credit thingy!
My wife is only entitled to half of the state pension, so we are living
on one and a half pensions at the moment and things are tight, so
somebody told me she could claim for the missing amount via this
so called universal credit! So she applied and filled in all the forms
etc asking about our assets and stuff and eventually got a reply
Stating that unfortunately we didnt qualify as our joint bank account
is a bit over the limit and they assess her as owning all of that
account? So we either must spend the money thats in the account
or remove it from the bank then reapply and make a false declaration
in order to qualify? Which she refuses to do!
So god help her if l peg off first?
It seems only people like Branson and other billionares are worthy
of bank assistance in hard times?
Sir Richard has even got the brass neck to try and manoeuvre some
state assistance for his loss making Virgin airlines whilst he is
exploring the boundaries of space??
If they let this pillock getnhis hands on more of our money then
this country deserves a revolution!!!
Oh, and another thing, we need to scrap or revise our bankruptcy
regulations as they only allow allready rich people to avoid paying
their debts at the expense of their suppliers etc!!
Look at Jamie Oliver since he went arse up!
Donkeyman!
Donkeymanyour wife is correct in refusing to remove the money . Disposing of assets in order to make a claim is definitely not allowed
Just spend the money as you need it and keep receipts .
On the contrary, those wearing face masks tend to touch their faces more often than those who don’t!
Like the receptionist at a local hospital, who was constantly pulling her face mask lower because it kept creeping higher on her face and covering her eyes.
As I’ve said before, masks can be of limited use in preventing exhaled droplets being spread to other people, which is the prime reason why clinical staff wear them.
Of infinitely more effect is maintaining a distance of a couple of yards, avoiding coughing and sneezing, and remembering to wash your hands thoroughly after touching anything.
