Swim the trouble is that not everyone elderly has the control you have over your immediate environment, visitors and family members. Some live with several generations who all behave at different levels of diligence when it comes to infection control. Some are under pressure to see visiting family even though they want to isolate. How do you tell people in your family to put on a mask when they visit and not get too close?
It’s not possible to control the behaviour of others that’s why the Government have to make these ridiculous rules. It’s socially awkward to move away from people. If everyone was sensible they would not have to, but so many are covidiots or think they know better. You see it in supermarkets etc. People with masks under their nose, under their chin, getting too close not washing hands. Bizarrely people taking their mask off to talk to others. It’s little wonder it’s spreading so fast.
Did you know that in Poland people have to present a medical certificate to Police if caught not wearing a mask in obligatory zones. In Spain this has been the policy since the first way and they have to wear masks in working environments all day. They were showing a news report on Indonesia where those who are caught with no mask have to do community service to prepare and tidy the graves of those who have died of the virus. They are also made to lie in an ambulance and wear an identifying orange jacket provided by police so others can see what they have done. In all these countries the police are involved in keeping the rules. We don’t have that here. That’s the problem.
Hi
I know exactly what is going on in Poland.
My Polish Lodgers have now gone, a combination of Corona Virus and Brexit.
It is simply not worth them staying here.
I am also a scientist who is well aware of risks,
I am content that we do not need lockdown here, A high risk person, but I do not need others to keep away from me, I keep away from them.
I can still go shopping and out for a meal in safety.

That’s more like it …
I’d like to see covidiots shot but if that’s not possible then ritual humiliation may be the way forward “pour encourager les autres” …
Although I’m 100% behind you on that score, I can just see the Ooman Rights people going ballistic over that one Annie and Omah.

Deleted as, basically, everything I said has already been said by people above!
Basically, it’s high time that we ‘got tough’ with the irresponsible and the covidiots, and stop targeting the sensible people who apply common sense.

21% of secondary schools in England sending home pupils in Covid cases
The number of secondary schools in England sending home pupils because of Covid is increasing rather than diminishing, the latest official figures show.
There are 21% of secondary schools counted as not fully open - up from 18% the previous week and 8% in mid-September. This is usually because they have sent home pupils in response to Covid cases.
But there are suggestions that when schools send home pupils, it is now a smaller number, and not necessarily a whole year group, as attendance in secondary school has slightly risen, from 86% to 87%.
There are also very few schools completely closed - only 0.2% of schools.
These weekly figures from the Department for Education, based on responses from about 80% of state schools, show overall attendance remaining at about 90%.
The disruption to family life behind the figures must be immense - there are over 10,000,000 pupils in the UK so at least 1,000,000 “carers” at home must be found ……

Circuit-breaker lockdown ‘likely for Wales’
The Welsh Government said there was a growing consensus a different set of measures were needed, but no decisions have been made.
No outline has been given of which sectors may have to close, but a group of businesses say there are proposals to shut hospitality.
No details yet, then.

Covid: Lancashire to move to highest alert level
Lancashire has agreed a deal to move into Tier 3 - the highest level of England Covid restrictions - from Saturday. A full announcement on the new measures is expected shortly. The “very high” alert level measures include pub closures and bans on household mixing indoors, in private gardens and most outdoor venues.
