First thing I’m going to do is fill in an e-consult for my doctors surgery. I’m worried about Tony. He’s becoming frailer & his memory has declined further. This last week he’s been complaining of feeling dizzy. I’m so frightened he will have a fall.
Hopefully the doctor will ring me back and offer a face to face consultation.
I hope I can go a nice walk with Tony at some point using the mobility scooter.
No other plans other than doing a bit of general housework.
Good morning all.
A very nice morning here.
I am definitely going to trim back the honeysuckle as it is almost covering the side gate that gives me access to the fields.
This honeysuckle has been here since I first bought the house 60 years ago. It has been cut down a few times, but it always grows back.
I have got to wait for my bread that is making to finish before I do that.
Delivered the 6 trays of the tomato plants to my daughter yesterday. She has already planted some out in the large tubs that she has.
My honeysuckle came down in a huge lump last year. I had to cut it back drastically. It had been tied to the fence, and got too heavy. Still plenty left, and growing back.
Morning chit chatters. A little overcast this morning, but still bright and promises to improve later.
Well, I finished all the knickers I’d cut out, another four pairs, so my GD has 7 pairs now. That should keep her going while I have a break from them and make something else for a change! I might actually use my embroidery machine today, as I’ve got a couple of new designs I’d like to stitch out.
@Carol, sorry to hear Tony seems to be going downhill. I hope you manage to get a face to face appointment with your GP. Good luck
Re: Trying to see the doctor for Tony. I filled in the e-consult & got a callback from the doctor.
Hurrah - Tony’s got an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow morning.
Oooh Eliza, hope residents were ok. A lady from our original coffee group messaged me out of the blue a few days ago. We haven’t seen anything of her for a few months, though she is in contact with one or two others. She said she had a house fire a few weeks ago, and she has pets. I have yet to get the full story from her.
I am expecting a very low turnout at the cafe this week. And tonight should be writing group but I am not in the mood. Might send apologies for absence,
Right, best crack on. Get the bin out into the alley and walk the dog.
@Jazzi one lady rescued, 6 fire engines ,4 Ambulances, and the road was closed …Engines in attendance overnight
One of the Biggest houses in the village ,we call it millionare row.
Tony has his doctors appointment this morning. I hope a reason can be found for his dizziness.
The rest of the day is our own.
Lots we could be doing here - including painting the new wood from the jobs the joiner did for us & the garden could do with some attention.
I just can’t be bothered with that today - feel the need for a break.
I’ve decided to go to the East Midlands Designer Outlet and spend the gift vouchers I had for Christmas. I might just get myself something nice to wear for Paula’s birthday celebrations this weekend. Tony has some gift vouchers too from his birthday in April so we’ll see if we can get him some new shoes.
The plumber will have got his ‘signed for’ letter yesterday informing him of my intention to take him to court if he won’t negotiate a settlement.
All is quiet so far. I was expecting some sort of retaliation by email or text but I’m so glad he’s silent. I definitely intend taking him to court if he doesn’t respond. We shall wait & see…
Morning everyone, back from walking the dogs now and enjoying a brew and a read of the papers for an hour. Off to my Mum’s shortly to mow her lawns and put up her bean canes, then this afternoon I have the dogs to groom ready for their monthly clip tomorrow.
Wishing you all a pleasant day
Morning all. Was raining earlier, but it’s all cleared up now.
@Eliza gosh that fire sounds a bit alarming - 6 fire engines!! Glad no one was seriously injured.
@carol I’m looking forward to hearing how plumber-gate unfolds. So pleased you’re taking this action - people like this need to be shown that they can’t get away with such shoddy work.
Off to Specsavers later to pick up my new glasses. When I had my eye test a couple of weeks ago, I was shocked to find it was 4 years since my last one. I was due a new test just as Covid appeared and kicked that idea into the long grass. After this, I shall go straight round to my daughter’s to see to her dog, give her a walk and a bit of company.
Good morning all.
Just back from Sainsbury’s with the weekly shop.
I did not need a lot, so sort of doubled up of some things.
There was a few spits of rain when I went out earlier with Minnie, and now there is very light rain on and off.
I hope all of you people get your problems sorted, health wise and home improvements.
Going to cook the lamb mince that I got, to make the fillings of shepherds pies. When done and cooled, I share it out into bags and freeze it until needed.
We’re back from the doctors & she could find nothing wrong!
Heart/lungs/blood pressure - all ok.
All the doctor could offer was general advice - to take it slowly when he stands up - to drink lots of water in order to keep hydrated - to include salt in his diet as the body needs salt ( his blood pressure is normal to low.)
The doctor concludes Tony’s dizziness is part of the progression of Alzheimers.
Our late friend Brian had Alzheimers & as it got worse he started to have falls so I can understand this is the most likely cause of Tony’s problem.
Right - well I thought we’d be going out this afternoon but minor domestic problem has cropped up. The DVD player has broken when Tony tried to record some stuff this morning. We phoned a local repair man & he’s coming to look at it sometime this afternoon.
It’s one of Tony’s pleasures to record daytime TV to watch at night time. His favourites seem to be Heartbeat, Escape to the country & Walks around Britain.
Personally I think we’ll have to have a new recorder - it’s 10 years old!!
Forget the DVD player @carol , what you need nowadays is a PVR, which basically is just a
computer and hard drive which can record over 300 hours of TV, no tapes, no CDs, no problem…
No reason why you can’t have both connected to your tv, Carol. If HDMI, get a connector and toggle between them. (Though you might need Adie or Paula to help you with the set up.) I have my Sky box in one HDMI slot, then I have a blu ray player and a DVD/VHS combi unit in a connector, with a toggle switch.
