Chit Chat Thread (Part 2)

Morning folks.

Sister still doesn’t feel right after her illness. She reckons she had a normal cold for the first week or so because she felt ill but tested negative. So goodness knows how it developed into Covid, or where she caught it from. She did go out for shopping but always wears a mask.

After my visit to her I went into Aldi. Still managed to spend a few bob, despite resisting the middle aisles.

Then friend from allotment rang last night saying she had caught it days after I’d left her during my London trip. We both said how we had to have a sofa nap every day, but I had no other symptoms last week, just tiredness.

Will do some cooking later (after cafe meet), to experiment making a minted (minced) lamb pie. Should be fun.

Right, suppose I ought to make my way downstairs, maybe have breakfast. Dog is happy dozing on the bed.

Enjoy your day.

Good morning everybody.

I’m feeling much better this morning. I’m hoping the covid has left me.
Poor Tony has been coughing all night though - he’s well & truly got it.

My broken elbow is healing well so I think I’m on the up.

Planning a quiet day today with a walk round the park.

Have a good day all…

Morning all, @Carol so pleased to hear you’re getting through Covid safely. No fun, is it?

I’m just back from dropping my daughter to work. She was off for two weeks with Covid, which really hit her hard, and she’s still tiring easily, so although she can manage work now, she was dreading the mile and a half walk to work and back each day. Still, only this week to go and then she has two weeks off for the Easter holidays.

No real plans today, but I do think I should tidy my sewing room. It really is such a mess :see_no_evil:

It’s a bit grey out there but dry and definitely not as chilly as it has been, thank heavens!

Good morning all.
Dull and miserable looking out. But still enjoyed my morning stroll with Minnie. When we go out she dashes about like she did when she was younger. I keep telling her that she is an old lady. She is 16 now.
Back from my weekly shop at Sainsbury’s. They did not have any decent chicken thighs, so I shall not be making the usual soup.
Did get some lamb mince, so I shall be making the innards for shepherds pies.

Morning all …
Its dry and Breezy , ive cleared the rubbish up that had blown out of the overflowing dustbin opposite and into my garden , .
My Chicken Casserole is in the Slow Cooker , thats for later on when its done .

Might go up in the loft see what else i can clear out .

Have a good day

I’m interested to read this. I want to do a chicken korma in the slow cooker, but I’m always wary of slow cooking chicken. The advice is that chicken should be cooked at a relatively high temperature for at least 20 minutes to kill any bacteria. Do you heat the cooker first? Heat any liquids first before adding? I know lots of people do cook chicken in a slow cooker, and there are loads of recipes out there, but I’ve always been a bit hesitant!

@Bathsheba
I disolve a Chicken stock Cube in hot water , put that in along with my Chicken Breast , and Veg,
I put the setting of the cooker on high , and leave it till the Chicken falls apart .

Thanks Eliza. I’m going to give it a go tomorrow. I’m sure it will be OK. Fact is, I shall use the slow cooker function on my Ninja Foodi (for the first time - I got rid of my slow cooker when I got this a year ago), and from what I gather it’s not as ‘slow’ as a traditional slow cooker.

Morning all.

No plans for today. Let’s just see what happens and what I feel like doing.

Morning all, the sun is out, oh no it’s gone again.

Got a Lady coming at 9.30am to cut my toe nails, that’s the excitment for the day.

Have a nice day all.

Good morning all l
Ha! My excitement of the day will be giving myself a haircut.
Just back from our morning stroll, and it is raining. Only a slight drizzle so did not even open the umbrella.
I think I shall try and finish the story that I am reading on the kindle.

Good morning everybody.

I’m feeling much better now. I think the covid is on the way out. Tony is still coughing quite badly but other than that he is ok.

I plan on getting out in the garden today to do a bit of weeding & tidying - as much as I can do with one good arm!

I’m expecting a call from my local hospital to arrange physio for my broken elbow but of course we will have to postpone it until I’m over the covid.

Re: My boiler/central heating. The insurance assessor phoned me yesterday to arrange a new visit. I sent text to the plumber but got no reply.
I had words with his wife over her demanding payment from me in a bullying way. I stood up for myself & she didn’t like it.

I’m thinking she’s ignoring my texts now. Don’t know what I’m going to do to get the job finished.
Trying not to get stressed. Don’t want brain jumble again.

Have a good day all…

@Emjay do you know anything about proposed development on or near the big Sainsburys ground? My allotment friend said she was reading a notice stuck on the hoarding outside the burnt out Poundland shop at The Mount. I said there WAS something rumoured a while ago, but couldn’t remember exactly what. Ta.

@carol , glad the Covid symptoms are easing. The broken elbow will take longer, unfortunately.

Crikey @Bathsheba , korma in the slow cooker! :flushed: Even if I say it myself, I do an excellent chicken korma in the wok and only takes twenty minutes including the prep! Let me know if you want the recipe…

Morning everyone, busy here today as I’m making bread, grooming the dogs and cooking macaroni cheese for lunch, and hopefully if the weather holds I’ll get an hour or two in the garden later.

Enjoy your day folks

Thanks Barry, I’ve done it plenty of times in the wok, but I just wanted to try this because my daughter did it in her slow cooker (using quorn, as she’s vegetarian), and it was absolutely lush. So I thought it would be worth a try on a day we’re out and about, to come back to it all ready to eat! Also, I’ve never used the slow cooker function on my Ninja Foodi, so I wanted something foolproof to try it out. I’ve heard that it doesn’t perform the same as a traditional crock pot, so this will be my test recipe.

Morning all, just taken my daughter to work again. She is feeling a lot stronger now, and told me not to worry, she could walk it today, but it was raining and I was up, so…

Nothing on the agenda today. Well, not for me anyway, but my son’s fiancee is booked in to be induced this afternoon, so granddaughter number 2 will be on the way later! Excited much!!!

Have a good day everyone …

Morning all.

I am waiting for this windy weather to ease up, so I can walk towards town and a wool shop I want to visit (for darning materials). Not planning on using the car anymore for these short journeys.

Good morning everybody.

I’m not sure what we’re doing today. More tidying & rearranging the bathroom I guess. It’s amazing how I’m all disrupted now I haven’t got an airing cupboard.

If it stops raining Tony & I will go a walk round the pond later. Apparently it’s not compulsory to isolate during covid anymore.
We will of course stay away from other people.

Still taking it easy as broken elbow is still painful. Waiting to hear from physio about that.

Have a good day all…

Morning all ,
Its very windy here , Ive just been out to clear up the pots and trays that have blown round the garden ,

So today I shall stay in till the wind dies down ,
