Chit Chat Thread (Part 2)

Morning peeps, gloomy overcast here and forecast for most of the day they say…

We planned a picnic for today at Hardwick Hall, which we will still do after taking the dogs a long walk around the lakes. Probably have to sit in the car if it’s chilly but the view is still better than at our kitchen table…

Have a good day everyone

Oh Barry, you will be in trouble, how can the view be better than over your kitchen table when you lovely wife is sitting there? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Good morning everyone

A bit overcast in Yorkshire this morning…Im taking the grandkids 10pin bowling then to their favourite Franky and Benny for a late lunch…hope i survive.

Have a great day all.

Then thank goodness we sit side by side and the view is of the oven… :joy:

Sorry to hear of your problems with the new neighbour Jan, sounds a complete nob. We have one just the same moved in across the road a few months ago to replace a lovely old couple who moved to downsize. The new people promptly ripped out the lovely front garden and covered it up in hardcore for their several vehicles, had a hot tub craned in over into the back garden for his loud parties and always seems to have the bin lid propped open with excess rubbish on bin day. Amazing how one arrogant lout can spoil the whole ambience of those that live around them so yes, it doesn’t bode well and I feel for you. :disappointed:

Wow, I’m counting my blessings yet again. Only one neighbour,
two doors away could do with a tidy and clean up but he is elderly and very unwell. Having said that, his daughter (rather posh) visited a couple of weeks ago for a week but she must have an allergy to work. :icon_wink:

Good late afternoon.
Again I had trouble getting in to here this morning. I had to leave it as I had things to do. First to Morrison to hand in my prescription. Not open. So went and filled up with petrol. On to Sainsbury’s for my weekly shop. Home to unpack. Then grabbed Minnie and went again to Morrison’s. Not leaving Minnie in the car, so carried her into the shop and chemists was open. Gave in prescription. Then drove to friend to help her with a bit of gardening.
Home now so here I am.
Just phoned my energy suppliers to make a booking for them to change my gas meter ( broken) . You will like this bit… They said they did not have any appointments until next year. WHAT!? You are having a laugh said I.
They said they will call me back.

That’s funny Emjay they told us the same thing, as we have got a Smart Metre and we don’t want it, we want the old fashioned type so that you can read the metre easy, costing us £100, but they told us it will be next year.

Good morning all, I saw the sun for 1 second then it vanished, cloudy for the rest of the day now.
Got our Bricklayer coming at 10am to put our wall back up, apart from that nothing planned for the day.
Have a nice day all.

Morning everyone, cloudy and drizzle here at the mo but the forecast is alright so, ever hopeful… :sunglasses:

Just some berry picking and freezing to do for me today plus a couple of odd jobs in the garden, so perhaps some time for myself to waste later.

Good luck with the wall rebuild Susie, hope he makes a good job for you.

Have a good day folks

A very quick good morning. Time is running away from me. Will shortly take H down to her carer then I still have bits to do before heading to town, and will get the bus down to Southwold for a few hours.

Enjoy your day.

Good morning all.
It was nice earlier, but now has clouded over.
What with the gas meter not showing the usage reading, I can use the gas more. I expect that they will make an estimate of past usage. He he.
I still have a ton of apples that need to be peeled, cooked, and frozen.
Also got vegetables that need to also peeled for another batch of soup.
Expecting a delivery, so got to wait in for that.

Back from Southwold. After spending most of the time waiting for buses, I only had about 2 hrs there, caught the 1.20 bus home. By the time I waited then for my bus, home at 2.30. Went straight to Morrisons and home bargains, and just had a cuppa. Collecting H at 5.

Southwold very expensive. I took my own coffee and a Greggs sausage roll (had time in TC before bus due), but paid £2.50 for a kiddie sized ice cream. Usual size single was £3.50. Eeeeek! Just had some cheese and biscuits with my cuppa as I had no lunch as such.

Barry, seems my new neighbour is known to my friend as he used to live next to her, and left owing rent. Hah hah! Hope it all catches up with him. She said you can’t believe anything he says, he is loud, and she was glad he left. Now she is moaning he has come back to haunt her. (This was on a text msg to our new neighbour, next door to them, other side.)

Right, gotta dash.

Got 10m, as washed up. Half ready to walk out the door.

Barry, that is why I let Holly stay with carers for the day so I can go out and have ‘me’ time, and admire our own views. I do like staying in, and do a lot of it, but it is nice sometimes to pop out and sit somewhere different, so I agree with you there.

I took my fleece but it spent most of the time in a bag being carried. At times the sun was lovely. Then there was cloud. Then sun. Argh! For the most part it was pleasant.

Good morning all, come on get out of that bed.
Not a very pleasant morning very dull.
Nothing planned for the day.
Have a nice day all.

Morning folks, overcast here but mild enough, maybe see some sun later.

Mum and eldest daughter joining us for lunch today which is always nice. I have to pick them both up now as daughter cannot drive yet after her op, and Mum finally gave up driving around two years ago but they don’t live too far away so it isn’t a chore.

Looks like you had a busy day yesterday Jan but I think I will avoid Southwold if it’s that pricey…

Did the bricklayer turn up Susie, how did he get on?

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning all.
It is not very nice here at the moment. Overcast and a cold wind.
I had an email from the energy supplier, saying that they do not have any gas meters in stock. But can fit a smart meter early September.
Why are these companies pushing these smart meters I wonder?
I now wonder if I should go for one. What are the pros and cons?
Of out shortly to my friend, also got to get my prescription meds from Morrison’s chemist. If they are ready. They said Wednesday evening, but I am leaving it later just in case.

Morning.

Washing done and in the tumble dryer.
Repeat meds ordered online. Damp specialist coming round later to inspect internal meter cupboard for the mould and damp issue.
Dining table cleared after yesterday’s shopping, some excess to take upstairs.
Kitchen work top tidied up.

Emjay, I always hated the thought of a smart meter but I inherited both mine and need do nothing. I pay £75/m to Octopus, get an email just before the due date, reminding me, then around the 6th of the month get an email with my monthly statement, how much my bill was, and what is left over. I keep the plus balance through summer months and let it pay for the heavier winter ones. If it has been exceptionally cold, as winter just gone, I just add some funds to the account to keep it in plus. Though last summer they repaid me some. I don’t have the display unit plugged in though.

Barry, it’s a lovely little town, with a sweet lighthouse, and is famous for Adnam’s brewery, but it has over priced itself IMO. I popped into Adnam’s and asked about the tour. £20, lasting 1.5 hrs, but you have to choose between brewery or distillery, as there is tasting on the last half hour, so depending on which tour, beer or spirits. I said thank you, interesting…and walked off.

When sis and I went into its pasty shop, we paid over £6 each for the pasty and coffee. But how they can justify £3.50 for an ice cream beats me. Lowestoft can be as low as £2 in places.

Emjay, we are having our Smart Metre taking out, as its so difficult to read it, we are going for the old fashion one, which you just read one line of figures, costing us £100, but not until next year.

Yes Barry our Bricklayer turned up and did a good job for £100, I supplied him loads of strong Coffee and Sausage Rolls.
