im thinking without a cast on theres no protection against bumping it,
she needs to be careful.
I canât think of any way they can plaster a fractured elbow.
a long arm cast Jazzi .
I was x-rayed at our small local hospital and after theyâd given me a sling they gave me a referral to the Derby Royal Hospital âto see what they want to do with itâ I was told. I was wondering if the Derby Royal may want to put a plaster on it or even operate.
Eeeeek - why else would they be sending me there?
A very early good morning from me.
I wont be doing much today unless the Derby Royal Hospital fracture clinic send for me.
The pain from my broken elbow kept me awake most of the night. Paracetamol donât really hit the spot & strong painkillers make me vomit.
Feeling very sorry for myself right now.
I donât even know how I fell. I think my leg gave way due to the sciatica.
No more about this. Sorry to bore you all.
I look forward to seeing what the rest of the chatters are doing today.
Have a good day allâŠ
morning all,
Carol I thought you may have had an uncomfortable night,I hope the pain eases soon.
Happy St Patrick Day to the Irish among us .
It rained a lot yesterday,im getting a good supply of rainwater for garden use this summer ,im filling a whellie bin up .
Most im collecting from a leaking gutter .
I think i will go to the Garden Centre its will be less busy than town .
Have a good day .
Carol and Eliza, A&E usually refer you to the fracture clinic after they initially see you. They might X-ray the arm later on, or might refer you for physio. I think it is standard procedure for the referral and nothing to worry about. They will monitor the healing progress.
When I did my wrist I was back up to the hospital weekly, doing hand exercises. It was actually quite fun, and I learned how to use chop sticks. They also wrapped the hands up in warm wax, then when done, first exercise was rolling the hardened wax with the bad hand.
Iâd gone to UCLH with my wrist, but with the elbow it was to a hospital in Essex, as it happened one Christmas Day on my way to my parents. They couldnât X-ray first of all, due to swelling, but did aspirate blood from the elbow, which bloody hurt!!! I was sobbing with the pain. Then back up two weeks later for the X-ray which confirmed the fracture.
Carol, one last thing, please donât think of driving while you are like this. I do know you are not supposed to drive if you have an arm cast (something a friend from the allotment did). Have an accident and you wouldnât be covered by insurance, and I think you are deemed unable to be in proper control of the car.
Good morning all, anyway.
Will take another look at my packing list, see what I need to find. Got the case downstairs in the back room, with towels and footwear. Canât pack the car yet, as much as Iâd like to, as when I take Holly to her carer Sunday morning all her bits need to go in the boot. Food and biscuits, enough for 6 days, bowls, etc., and her bed. Only when I get back, with an empty car, can everything then go in.
No chance of that - I couldnât drive if I wanted to. The pain is too bad.
If I move my arm from a right angle it is excruciating.
Good morning all.
Wow Carol! That what happens to us elderly folks when we fall. We donât bounce back like when we were younger.
I had to go online to book an appointment for another consultation at the private Rodin hospital. (Referred via NHS) for my knees. It would seem every thing is now days done with messages and apps.
My daughter gave me some stick on pads that she uses for her back. I have put them on but just to keep her happy. I canât read what they are as everything is in Chinese.
I have an appointment to see the nurse at 12 today for the annual foot inspection. I have to decide if walk, bus, 2 stops. In the past I would get on one of my bikes. But I think I have lost confidence and worry about falling off. But when was the last time I fell off a bike? 20 years ago? Little wheeled Moulton, hit a curb.
Have a good day people and stay safe.
Morning Chatters!
Gosh Carol, I really hope you get your elbow sorted out, and it heals quickly.
No plans today - the sun has disappeared into the rain which is now pouring down. The weekend is supposed to be lovely though, so I shall wait and do some things in the garden then. For now though Iâll just potter about with housework and trying to find a book I thought I had packed, but perhaps notâŠ
Hope everyone has a nice day.
Good morning everybody.
Iâve had another restless night due to my broken elbow. The pain goes right down to my hand which is swollen.
Hospital rang yesterday for a virtual appointment. They went through my notes & x-ray with me & gave me lots of advice - rest, ice, elevation etc. They said they will see me in a few weeks when the pain has subsided & get me started on physiotherapy.
Ady & Paula are coming to see us later to do us some things that needs to be done.
I instructed Tony how to make a big pan of stew yesterday. All that needs to be done is make some dumplings to go in it today - which he will also do.
We may go a walk round the park this afternoon but I will be holding on hard to Tonyâs arm with my good arm!!
Have a good day allâŠ
Good morning all, its beautiful sunshine here, hoping it will be warm enough for me to sit outside in the front garden on the bench today and watch the holiday makers go by and talk to neighbours with their dogs.
Have a nice day all.
morning all ,bit of a misty morning,
I have a food delivery this morning, nothing else planned .
have a good day
Morning all, hope you are all well. The shopping is done already, just the bathroom to clean after a coffee then the day is my own.
Enjoy your day everyone
I have just learnt that at my GP practice it is not allowed possible to book a call back from a named doctor in advance. I have to call back on Monday when she is available to then book a call from her.
Good morning all.
Nice day for a funeral this afternoon. One of our friends mother. 90 something.
That seems to be the trend now. No hatches, matches, just dispatches.
Been out with Minnie and at present sunny and blue sky.
Got a bread making with 57 minutes to go.
Morning all.
Meeting some ladies for coffee at the park by the Broads. Not sure whether to leave Holly at home so we have a better choice of venue. Only one might allow dogs (in the garden). Really I should then come straight home and see what else needs doing.
Yesterday I took up some hems on a couple pairs of trousers.
Morning all, another beautiful day here.
Janet you have picked a lovely week to be on holiday, hope you have a lovely time, I bet you canât wait for Sunday.
Have a nice day all.
Morning all.
Thanks Susie. Not seen the weather forecast yet, so that sounds good! Wow, yes, just checked! A pity Mondayâs isnât as good as Tuesday, while I am in central London. But yes, looking good, and especially for the drive down.
How is your pain?
I will be out in town for a few errands, and then later ironing yesterdayâs washing and packing the case. I want another wash to go in, but have to check with neighbour opposite who may want her bed linen done (broken WM).
