Chit Chat Thread (Part 2)

Morning folks.

As I am off to Norwich today I got up early. Well, I beat the alarm by half hour. Might try and shower quickly before the dog comes downstairs. Hope she can hold off wanting her walk a little longer.

Good morning all, sun is out.
Off to do our weekly shopping this morning, but got to go a different route because of the sink hole.
Have a nice day all.

morning all , @Jazzi have a nice day in Norwich ,i went there with a Forum friend we both loved it .
I shall probably go a walk this evening .Nothing else planned .

Good morning everybody.

My boiler broke down last night. We have no heat & no hot water now.
Got to spend the day sorting that out. praying I can get a plumber to fix it (and who won’t rip me off)

Have a good day all

Thanks Eliza. I love it there and go whenever I can (dog day care permitting).

Good luck Carol.

Good morning all, cool this morning but nice and bright, looks like being a nice day ahead
 :sunglasses:

Just back from doing the Tesco shop and having a brew whilst contemplating the day, but no firm ideas yet so we’ll just see what happens.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning all.
It really feels like spring here. Sunny and warm out.
Not a lot going on here, just thinking what I could do today. Notice I did say thinking, not that I will do it.
I have got a telephone appointment between 4-5 this afternoon with my Dr.
Going to talk about my knees. I don’t think I want replacements, just more injections.
Have a nice day all, whatever you do.

Good morning all, looks like its going to be a nice day.

Got scaffolding coming sometime today, having new double glazed windows fitted upstairs and a side window that no one can get to.

Have a nice day all.

Morning all.

Good morning everybody.

We have no heating or hot water. Our 30 year old boiler has finally passed away.

I’m waiting in for more heating engineers today. Two more coming to give an estimate for new boiler

It’s a lovely sunny day so might do some tidying on the garden.

Out for a meal with Ady & Paula & family tonight.

Have a good day all

Good morning all, a good frost here earlier but that wind has dropped so looking like a nice day ahead.

Just a pottering around day for me with some odd jobs and an hour in the garden later.

Looks like you’ve had your money’s worth out of the boiler @carol , so aren’t there some new grant’s now for new boilers for old people
(whoops, not insinuating that you’re that old obviously
 :flushed: )

Have a pleasant day everyone

Morning all, it’s another lovely day, so I’ve got the washer on - so nice to be able to dry stuff outdoors after months of clothes horse drying!

@carol that’s miserable not having a boiler. At least we’re not in the depths of winter, but it does still get chilly at times. Hope you’ve got some portable heaters till you get it replaced.

Yesterday we went to Lyme Regis, it was absolutely beautiful!

Today we’ve got our daughter’s dog, and I’ve got sewing to do - two more of my granddaughter’s school summer dresses to lengthen, so no trips out for us. Mr B will take Connie for a couple of short walks, which is all she can manage now at nearly 14.

Barry, I tried applying for the grant on account of Tony having Alzheimers & our old boiler being energy deficient.

I was refused it because we aren’t receiving any benefits.

Latest estimate £3,500 for new boiler. I’ve got no choice but to pay it. Hoping for cheaper estimates from the 2 men coming today

This is outrageous, Carol! Surely Tony would be classed as “vulnerable” in this case? What would happen if you actually didn’t have the funds to pay such an extortionate enormous bulk of money like this? Fingers crossed you find a cheaper quote :crossed_fingers:

I have to agree with Pixie here, this is appalling that you can get no help given Tony’s condition. Are you not in receipt of attendance allowance, @carol, or other benefits as Tony’s main carer? Do they not qualify you as being eligible for help?

No they don’t qualify.

@carol ,I’m surprised you aren’t getting Attendance allowance at least for Tony, that usually isn’t dependent on income or assets

I get a carers allowance. I applied for & was refused a grant.
I really tried but I don’t think they really want to give people a grant at all. They make it so difficult.

The surveyor from E-on came & told me it couldn’t be done because of the age of my system. Yes I know it’s ridiculous but that’s what he said. He made all sorts of excuses that I can’t remember now.

How can I argue with a surveyor from E-on. I did my best but failed.

My kids don’t offer to help so I don’t ask them. I don’t think either of my girls could have fought the man from Eon anyway - they’re thicker than me. My son’s not too good at that either

It’s a bit complicated. I don’t really know if I was refused a grant because my carers allowance didn’t qualify me or because the man from E-on said the grant didn’t cover the amount of work that would be needed. He led me to believe they only did simple remove combi boiler - replace with new one. Mine being a back boiler was a much bigger job

Good morning all.
I’ve got quite a busy morning today, with one visitor on his way, and 3 separate deliveries, plus an optician’s appointment at lunchtime! So better not be hanging around on here for the time being.

Good morning all.
Back from my weekly shop at Sainsbury’s. Bright and sunny here at the moment, but I can see a lot of cloud coming from the southwest.
Just put on 10 chicken drumsticks :poultry_leg:to cook, these are for Minnie’s dinners.
I recon the.bloke from eon is quoting you for a whole replacement system including pipe work as well.
I hope you get a better quote than that. It sounds like a big job.
