Chit Chat Thread (Part 2)

Morning all.

As of now I can at least bear to put my toe to the floor so might try and drive round to Morrisons later. If I can’t manage, then my sister has a list of groceries I need. She did agree to take me later, when I asked, but then remembered she has an appt after her shift. Last night saw me taking pain killers and putting ice on my foot. It is still very, very painful, but I will hold off phoning doctors just yet.

And of course, later I will continue to rest it. A good excuse to lie about, reading my book.

Barry, how was your car mot?

Susie, any better? Did you enjoy going to Gorleston.

Emjay, still walking round the field?

Hi to everyone else, including our new members.

Morning Jan, that toe sounds painful, could you have broken something do you think? Whatever though, I do hope it eases for you pdq…

Morning everyone, broken cloud and sun forecast again for the day here, I must say that I’ve lost tolerance for the fierce heat theses days so that suits me fine.

The car sailed through the MOT yesterday thank goodness, so we are having a drive over to the garden centre this morning for Rosemary to spend some of her birthday vouchers and then I’ll be making a curry for lunch.

Have a good day folks

Good morning all.
I don’t know what has happened, but I have to log in to the forum every time?
Weather here is a bit cloudy. It can do what ever it wants to do.
Yes Jan I do still walk the field every morning, even though the right leg is starting to give me problems. I just hope it is not the knee.
As some of you might know, the ULEZ starts in a couple of weeks here. The moan is that older car owners will have to Pay £12.50 to enter the zone.
An idea on YouTube has arisen. If your car is non compliance. Then re register it in the mayor’s name. So he will get all the fines.
I like it. :+1::+1::+1:

Good morning all, its cloudy here and a bit of wind, but not cold.

Yes Janet, Gorleston was good, my throat still hurts, but I think it has improved a bit.
Hope you can drive today with your toe.

Have a nice day all.

Ey up, seems I forgot to update on here, that I did get to A&E on Tuesday afternoon. Two ladies from the cafe group looked after Holly for me so I could go. Got a cab there, booked in and a short while later was approached with a form, to go straight round to X-ray. A little wait there. Back to A&E, let them know I was back. Got into my book, then heard a call for Jenny Stone, so I stood up, said Janet Stone? He replied, Jenny, Janet, all the same, but it’s Jenny on the system. Nevertheless, I followed him to a treatment room and my heart sunk, thinking, uh oh, I’m going to need a cast! However, on confirming my dob it transpired there was a Jenny S and therefore my X-ray needed checking. No broken bones!! But no doctor actually examined it. This bloke just gave a quick look, from head height, and that was it.

So. Just given the RICE advice and off I went home. Foot has been agonising over the last couple of days but I did manage to get out shopping this morning. I am still hopeful that I can get a gp appt, so will try in the morning now, if no relief.

Wonder if anyone has any ideas. No bruise, just redness.

And it’s the R one with the problem.

It looks like Gout to me Janet.

My thoughts too, Susie.

Going to tag @OldGreyFox here, as I saw he suffered with it some years ago. Bob, any thoughts? Sometimes it feels like toe is being crushed, or someone poking needles up the nail and gouging around. Thanks.

I did have Gout myself in my left big toe, when I was only in my 20s, terrible pain.

The pain can be excruciating Susie, just the weight of the bedsheets resting on the affected area can keep you awake at night. I find that a 200mg Ibuprofen taken with food before retiring to bed can reduce the pain considerably, and even works throughout the morning.
It’s Inflammation and swelling that are the common signs of gout, slight discomfort in the days leading up to an attack can also be observed. There are a number of causes, but ultimately it’s a build up of uric acid in the blood that is the main cause. Your doctor will arrange a blood test to confirm the diagnosis so you don’t treat it as gout when it’s something else.
All the best Susie, and good luck.

Thanks OGF.

Morning everyone…

I have a pal who suffers with gout he says its the worst pain he has ever experienced …in his case he says certain foods bring on an attack so he watches what he eats…I hope you get it sorted soon Jazzi

Out with pals tonight to an Indian restaurant nothing much organised for today but those weeds are popping their heads up in the garden so no doubt they will keep me busy.

Have a good day everyone

Morning all, its miserable out there.

Not going out today.

How is your Toe this morning Janet.

Have a nice day all.

Morning everyone, drizzle here too and heavy rain for later they say, so just another summer’s day then…

Back from doing the weekend Tesco shop and catching a brew before going over to Mum’s to do a bit of gardening. Just a salad for lunch but no other plans for later, probably catch a film though if it’s not that great outside.

Hope the toe is a little easier today Jan.

Have yourselves a pleasant day folks :slightly_smiling_face:

Good morning all.
This gout thing sounds like something I would not wish on my best friend. Or should that be ‘worst enemy’?
I don’t think I have any enemies. So I will not wish it on anyone.
Weather here also looks like it is going to bucket down any time.
But the weather gods saw me walking round the fields, and decided that they would hold it off for a while.
I suppose it will be a usual Friday for me. Out with my daughter and lunch at Morrisons, then this evening dinner at hers.

I was 2nd in the phone call to the surgery this morning at 8, and have bagged a 1.30 appt. Still a bit sore. My friend walked Holly last night and I’ve just got back from one. I needed to go, to test the pain.

Many phone calls today. Mid morning to a friend to ask advice about a cat charity who could foster my sister’s cats, if there is such a thing. Then later a call from my nurse practitioner. And at some point, older sister. I gave cat owning sister the number for the Cinnamon Trust. Hope she calls them.

(Paused to finish my cereal)

Sis’s kidney function is now 10% so she could face her second transplant sooner rather than later. I put the idea to her of giving them up permanently and it is something she could consider. They belong to her daughter who has already said, do what you think is best. She intends to shorten her working hours soon so I wonder if it’s for the best?

Such a worry…

Good morning everybody.

I’ve got my fitness class this morning.

It’s a rainy day so won’t be doing much else except a trip to Tesco this afternoon.

Janet I hope you get the toe sorted out. My Tony also suffers from gout & it’s completely deformed his feet! It really is the most awful pain…

Sorry Janet, It should have been you I was replying to and not Susie…Please accept my apologies…
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:
It must be something in the air because since Sunday my ankle has been feeling a bit restricted and swelled. I went out for my usual walk/jog on Wednesday and it seemed to loosen off, but I took an Ibuprofen with my dinner in the evening anyway just to be on the safe side. It was quite red and inflamed Thursday morning but didn’t stop me doing my bike ride. It swelled up quite bad by Thursday night and at 3:00 am the pain woke me up and was too much to bare so I took another Ibuprofen. It must have worked because I slept until 8:00 this morning…Usually up at six…But I’ve had to postpone this mornings walk/Jog because I can hardly stand on it…
Must be the season…

It seems to come on in the early hours or after sitting for a while.
Good luck with the doctor, I was prescribed Allopurinol to be taken on a regular basis, and Colchicine for the immediate pain treatment, but beware! Colchicine is a powerful drug with some disturbing side effects.
