Morning all, a non day weatherwise here, no frost, no wind, no sun, but no complaints either…
Waiting in for a phone call from the surgery for a meds review and cooking a lasagne for lunch. If the weather holds I may turn over and weed the fruit garden which is looking unloved at the moment.
After a busy time over the allotment, and getting the delivery of pallet collars, I walked round to the cafe to get the gardener a coffee and some biscuits, shot home for a swift shower/hair wash. Walked Holly, gave her a bit of food, then went off to get sis and drive up to the Toby.
It was packed! Glad I reserved the table online yesterday. In all, I paid £15 for our 2 drinks, 2 meals. A bargain.
Holly was very good, letting me leave her twice in one day and for several hours each time. Seems she is getting more and more used to it. I gave her a good walk and the rest of her food, and couldn’t wait to sit down with a cuppa.
Tomorrow I hope to go into town, buy a few bits, use the library, see if they are still doing the free hot drinks (warm space), but also pop into the allotment and see how the rotavating went.
Good morning all.
Just back from the Minnie and I stroll around the field.
Cold wind and overcast.
MOT and car taxed done yesterday.
My BT contract ends this month, so looking for just a new broadband supplier.
In my research, I found that most still use BT open reach fibre and charge almost the same as BT.
But last year a new company ‘Community fibre’ installed their own cables in this area. From my inquiries from local people that have it, say it is good and cheap. There are different prices depending on what speed you want. Also there is the option of no a contract deal.
Emjay, we have City Fibre here, who not long ago dug up all the pavements, leaving wonky lines, installing their cables.
A bad night sleep wise. Tried all remedies, but nothing helped, but got up sometime after 4, had a small cup of milky cocoa, back to bed, and managed around 3 hours or less. I might rest today in this case. Had planned on going into town but seriously, not needing anything just yet.
Will try to get to the allotment, check on the gardener’s progress of yesterday. I owe him the balance still.
Yet again, I messaged the bloke who quoted for the garden concrete post. No response. I will reopen my query on NextDoor this evening if I don’t hear from him but goodness knows when I can fit anyone in. A very full calendar next week, then the following I go away.
Oh, remember when I complained to Many Pets about my Amazon voucher and I received it only recently? I had also received an email from them, about the complaint, but I never opened the attachment (their response), so was pleasantly surprised this morning to get yet another Amazon voucher from them, for £20. I have already redeemed this, so now have a healthy balance there. (£71 I think). I was still trying to spend the one given to me last September for my birthday, from my dear friends.
I’m looking forward to tonight - I’m going to the theatre to see Showaddywaddy. Paula & Ady bought me the tickets for my birthday last December. Unfortunately Paula is ill & can’t go with me so daughter Sue is going instead. I’m looking forward to a good night.
Shame about the band’s line up not being the same but glad you enjoyed the show.
WM will go on later, with a clothes wash. I have some updating to do on my spend diary, and to make a payment to the gardener. He called last night to say how much more I owe, then texted his bank details. He said he is happy to do any other work I needed, and also is not averse to transporting farmyard/horse manure in his van, if I wanted to get any. I said I will find out where stables are and what is available. Handy to know. Happy to pay him rather than try elsewhere.
I have had to readvertise the job for the garden concrete post I need doing, as the builder who quoted over a week ago is now not answering my message for dates to do it. Strange, as he himself had answered the NextDoor request. Argh!!! Tradespeople. Why do they do this??
I felt too cold last night for the late dog walk, so put her in the garden. I will walk her shortly now I’ve had my first cuppa.
Good morning all.
It is definitely getting colder as they are saying.
I had to wake Minnie up at 0645 this morning. Although I got that extra hour, I did not have a good night. Well who would with a dog sleeping on one’s feet ?
Nothing yet planed for today, so will just let it happen.
Chatted to older sister yesterday. I had tried both her and brother and only she called me back. Goodness knows where brother got to, lol. Will try him this morning.
I need to fold up and put away yesterday’s washing, make the back room a bit tidier. Prep veg for lunch (home made meat loaf), and maybe go to Tescos.
And of course the dog walks, cuddles, playtime.
Can see it’s been raining, or maybe it still is. Feels cold, anyway.
Good morning all.
Cold and miserable.
I had a disturbing night thanks to Minnie.
So nothing planed yet for today, but messing about with phones. I am thinking of getting another phone, something like an iPhone X. Same as my daughter has.
I phoned BT to cancel my broadband and phone. The guy kept trying to sell me other options. I kept telling him that I did not want to stay with BT as it is in my opinion, behind the times.
When I went out yesterday, I saw the fitters of ‘Community fibre’ installing another 2 homes in my road.
Barry. I do jigsaws on my iPad. There is a sites where I get free ones. A good selection and a daily one to do.
Yes I’ve seen those @Emjay but I prefer to do a big one on a board, usually 1000 pieces that I can keep going back to for an hour or so when I have time or the inclination over the space of a week or so.
@Susie, not since yesterday morning. I spoke to older sis yesterday evening, with an update, as I’d texted my SiL. She is in quite a bad way, it seems. I told sis I was out all day so she will try to talk to brother this morning, as he is likely to be at the hospital later. I leave him alone in the evenings as he tends to be exhausted.
