Chit Chat Thread (Part 2)

Morning folks.

Viewing some allotment plots this morning. The site is just a 5-10 minute walk from home. There will be other people going so don’t know how they allocate them, or what the plots will be like. Not sure I want one that needs a lot of work.

Good morning all.
Raining here but not enough to deter Minnie and I from going for our usual morning stroll.
In one spot of the field, there is a load of fungi growing. I have an app on my phone called ‘Seek’ that lets you point the camera at growing vegetation, and it tells you what it is. It said that this fungi is ‘’Genius honey mushrooms’. It said it is edible. Looking it up it don’t look nothing like the one in the field.
I should have saved the photo and put it on here.
Maybe I will do it tomorrow.
Laundry is being done as I write.
Nothing yet planed for today.

Good morning all

Last evening was a noisy one , I will say no more on the effects of it .

@Jazzi getting a allotment could be your bolt hole when things get noisy at home … , a nice little Shed made into a summer house .

@Emjay , I only know a Bluey, large flat blue in the gills …I wouldnt trust my judgement on anything else .

Im getting regular updates from my son who went by car over to Germany yesterday ,he sent little clips of the landscape ,and this morning he is going to watch the racing at the Nurburg Ring , before heading back to England .

I dont have any plans for today , so may have a Duvet day …

Have a wonderful day

Eliza, yes, that is half the plan! Somewhere quiet to sit on warm days, with Holly close by. If I could get a plot with fencing, she’d be happy, and so would I, so she can run about. In London we weren’t allowed to put fencing around our plots. Here, I seem to see it everywhere. I can see another site from the pavement when walking Holly.

Went to a small fun fair , tried a few rides but when it came to the ghost train there was a long queue . It seems they were only running a skeleton service.

Good morning everybody.

I’ve just had a nice chat on the phone with daughter Karen who is flying off to Tenerife this afternoon with her hubby, daughter & baby grandson.

Sue has just called to take Tony for his flu jab. I’m very tempted to go back to my snuggly warm bed but really must make an effort to stay lively for Tony’s sake.

I might go a little walk round the park later today - That will please him.

Tony’s accepted my decision to move house.
In our circumstances it’s for the best. Ady & Paula are going to take all the strain of buying & selling. I’m putting it in their hands.

Have a good day all…

@Jazzi I hope you get a nice plot. It will be brilliant for you.

@realspreed :rofl: :rofl:

Ive just eaton my slow cooked belly pork , done on a bed of Onions and 2 crushed Garlic cloves, in a chicken gravy , It was delicious , I soaked the gravy up with fresh crusty bread .

I will make this again .it turned out well .

Blimey Eliza, I’m drooling here!

Well, signed for an allotment plot this morning! Taken on a half, not a full, because the former looks like easier work, and the full size was severely overgrown. Been Googling tools and sheds, but think the shed will have to wait till next year. In the meantime I will go out tomorrow, see if I can find a cordless strimmer, to replace the one which died on me. I have a very few items here, brought from London. Rake, spade, hoe, and bits I have bought since.

Most importantly I need to find some old clothes to wear when over there. Back In London I had my gardening trousers and top. I have no idea where either are.

As you can see, some parts are easily workable, and there is a section that has been covered with weed suppressant, so can be dug up straight away.

The handy thing is, there is a tap on the main path just behind my fence, and we can use a hose to fill up a water butt, but not for watering. Need cans for that. We weren’t allowed hoses in London either. And after a year we can apply to keep 6 hens! Wow. I might look into that.

Im so happy for you @Jazzi , and Holly , something to focus on , and Hens as well , my daughter as Two nothing like your own Eggs
.

Thanks Eliza. A long slog ahead of me, but if I just focus on a bit at a time, and not rush it. I was told they don’t expect it all to be done in the first year, but at least some within six months, and if we show we are actively working on the plot and clearing it, then they ‘leave us alone’.

How will you get rid of all the weeds Jazzi?

I was thinking if you use weed killer it will poison the ground for what you want to grow…

Good old hard slog, Carol. I am going to look for another cordless strimmer, as my old one died on me recently. That went with the rubbish when it was collected. I will use the new one, eventually, to cut down some grass at the end of the plot. A lot of ground looks like easy digging with a fork, and a section has been covered with weed suppressant so I can start tidying that up straight away… No chemicals.

I shall miss our old trading shed, where we could buy fertilisers and such stuff, and the potatoes and onions to plant. I asked about the shop here, but was told it is closed but they are looking to reopen in the future. Very small, by the looks of it.

It sounds tremendous good fun … and some hard work. I hope you’ll post progress reports as you go.

Sure. Maybe a new thread later?

I’d like that. I bet you’re quite looking forward to getting stuck in.

I am. But first, a shopping trip. And to find old clothes.

Morning folks.

Rain here, gah! Yesterday Holly was content to forego an early evening walk (for her bed/the sofa), and we went out about 7.30, when she did her business. So then a little later it was just outside for a wee and back in for bed. I love it when that happens, that we don’t need the late walk. I can even keep my dressing gown on, lol.

We got wet on that earlier walk.

Off out today, with my gardening shopping list, to see what I can get. Need to look for some old clothes, then when it stops raining, will do some daily digging.

Good morning all ,

People still have money to burn , last night was like WW11.
Not got a lot planned ,

Have a wonderful day

Good morning all.
Rain. Yea right. We got caught in it this morning. It was just spitting when we went out this morning, but half way around the field, it really came down.
Minnie was dried with towels and the hair drier, me, I just had to change and the soaked coat and trousers hanging out.
Just looking at that plot Jan, makes me feel worn out. At the moment I just can’t handle that sort of thing. But maybe next spring, the urge might wake.
