Morning everyone, much cooler here today, quite dull and overcast in fact. The British weather really is crazy!
I’ve been skim reading to try and catch up with your news as I’ve been neglecting this thread lately! @Carol, sorry to hear your tummy bug has lingered and left you feeling so weak. Hope you feel better soon. @Emjay I love your fox family photos! So sorry your knee is still giving you so much trouble still. @Jazzi I do hope Holly’s tummy troubles are better.
I woke up in the night with agonising pain in my left hip. No idea why/how - as far as I know I’ve done nothing to strain it, but I had been lying on my left side, so I carefully eased myself over onto my back (an extremely painful manouevre!), and slept that way for the rest of the night. By morning, the pain had gone, but it feels very tender, so I’m going to have to treat it with care.
I made a little top for my granddaughter yesterday - she’d put in a request for a tie-front tee shirt. Well I didn’t have a pattern for one, so I did a bit of head scratching, found a pattern that I could probably hack, and went ahead. I was so pleased with how it turned out and she is absolutely thrilled with it. Then last night I found some striped jersey fabric in my stash that matches it perfectly, so today I shall make a pair of leggings to go with the top.
Sheba, sorry about your hip pain. I’m wondering if it could be a trapped nerve. An ice pack on the area might help plus lots of rest…
I’m gradually getting my energy back thank goodness though still feeling a bit wishy washy.
I haven’t got the energy for cooking a dinner though so yesterday I got 2 roast beef ready dinners from Sainsburys.
I hope to potter about in the garden today but I know Tony will want to go a little walk so I expect we’ll do both.
I had some cheery news yesterday when I opened my credit card bill.
The holiday site at Weymouth have refunded my money - all except the deposit. I think that was so good of them seeing as I didn’t have any insurance. Paula spoke to them & explained how ill was when she was there … The Weymouth mobility shop have also refunded the money I pre paid for a scooter for Tony so I haven’t lost all my money after all.
Some companies would have kept the money & shown no sympathy at all - Warners for instance!!
I am so cheered by this.
Thanks Carol. I don’t think it’s a trapped nerve, feels more like joint pain. But what do I know?
Such good news about the holiday refund! Makes you feel like broadcasting this, companies like that deserve all the praise and good publicity. You would certainly book with them again, wouldn’t you?! When you think of that report a while back where a chap lost his long term partner shortly before they were due to go away, and the holiday company wouldn’t refund him! Of course, they did as soon as the bad publicity hit all the headlines!
A few things on my to do list. Edit some writing for tomorrow’s group meeting. And it is black bin collection tomorrow. I might have some room for me to be able to get rid of unwanted stuff in my bedrooms. Last week, a day or two after blue bin, I filled it with cut up cardboard boxes. Hmmm, should have done that before, not after! Silly me.
Good morning all.
Another warm and sunny day here, but will it last as there is a northerly wind.
Still suffering from the knee, but force myself to stroll around the field as Minnie has to be taken out.
On Wednesday I have an appointment with the diabetic eye clinic. I normally go by bus. But I still have to walk a fair way to the bus stop. I could cancel I suppose. There is another option. I could drive to the end of the road, park, and just walk the few yards to the bus stop.
Morning all, there’s a lot of blue sky out there, and sunshine is forecast for the day - only about 20deg, but I’m fine with that, can’t cope with high temps these days.
Well I’ve given myself some extra work this week! I miscut the leggings yesterday - the fabric had shifted so the stripes don’t match up - so I thought, well as I’ve now got to recut a new leg to pattern match one of the pieces, that means I’ll have the other unused leg going to waste. I know! I’ll recut a new leg to match that one too, so I’ll have two pairs - I can let her BFF have the second pair, because they love having matching clothes. And then I somehow talked myself into making another top for the friend as well, so they’ll have complete matching outfits for their trip to Clip ‘n’ Climb on Sunday. So that’s my week sorted!
@Emjay hope you manage your appointment without too much trouble.
Uh uh! Not supposed to drive afterwards. I usually get a cab to the clinic, then two buses home. It is south of the bridge. Actually, I might be due for mine soon.
Good morning all
Looks like another glorious day of sunshine ,20c suits me too.
I had a good day visiting 2 Garden Centres, and my Chauffeur also planted 3 shrubs I bought ,so I was well pleased . @Bathsheba sounds like another busy day at the sewing machine , do you ever make clothes for yourself? @Emjay if its not to far away , why not get a Taxi .
No, haha! I’ve got a few fabric lengths that I’ve bought specifically to make something for myself, but I never get round to it - there’s always something I want to make for the little ones instead
I’m waiting in anticipation to see if my hot air balloon ride will go ahead.
Apparently the one last night & this morning was cancelled due to the wind. Paula has got to ring at 2.00pm to see if it’s going ahead.
In the meantime we’re having a trip to Tesco. If the balloon ride has to be rescheduled Tony & I will go a walk round the the local pond this afternoon.
That sun is hot through my bedroom window, but is only about 14deg right now, set to get warmer. Will walk dog just as soon as I’ve finished my cuppa.
To the cafe this morning, then out again this evening, for the writing group. Just need to remember to email my work.
And must get my black bin out soon, for the refuse collectors. Meant to ‘fill’ it with rubbish from the spare bedrooms but ended up just moving stuff about and looking through some of it. Gah! Shut the door on it and walked away in the end.
Good morning all.
It’s still ok here weather wise.
Been out already with Minnie and having to rest my knee and surrounding areas for a bit. Then I shall go do my weekly Sainsbury’s outing. “I don’t really need a lot” says he, until I start browsing amongst the shelves.
Off to see my friend this afternoon for a cuppa and a chat.
Morning, no big plans here either but I’d better get some watering done in the garden before it gets too hot, that rain the other day helped but we didn’t have nearly enough for some of the plants.
