Booster, are you up for it?

Our awaited phone call came through a few minutes ago as the staff were trying to form a list for the booster. Nov 11 has been agreed as we are both free that day with no other appointments or callers expected :+1:

I canā€™t get a Covid booster via 119, all too far away & Iā€™m not in their system. He said ring surgery, I did this, message said boosters to be announced. Rang local pharmacy where I had flu jab, they arenā€™t doing the Covid booster jabs, rang another, that people said were doing them & was told to ring back later as no one available. It is now way after 6 months since I had my second jab, on 27th March. More like 7 months. I have heard nowt from my surgery & Iā€™m begining to wonder if anyone in my age range has actually had a booster yet. Our surgery is rubbish, yet they were quick to get everyone the other two jabs.

I heard somewhere or other, not sure where now, that all notifications / arrangements for the covid booster had been ā€˜outsourcedā€™. No idea to which organisation but that would seem to be about right as so many are finding exactly as you are. I have a week or so to go to when the six months and one week is up, then I will find out if itā€™s the same for me.

I hope you let us know how you get on, my six months and a week will be around armistice day.

Yes OK, will post on here to let you know, no problem.

@Baz46 , Thatā€™s correct Baz, and thenumber to phone is
119, and seems to be an attempt to centralise all booster jabs??
my notification came over amonth ago and l am still waiting
as l am unwilling to spend Ā£40 on a taxi fare to get to the
vac centre !
However yester day l found out that a centre is being set up
in the town its self on a walk in basis on two days a week?
So l am looking forward to getting done next Wednesday !!
All my information came via the grapevine!!
The 119 number has proved to be useless!!
Donkeyman! :frowning::frowning:

This is the email I have just received, from the pharmacy. Great! 119 were no help.

Good Afternoon

We are doing COVID booster jabs here, if you have received a letter/email from the NHS, you will need to book through them, as we cannot take bookings here, if we donā€™t appear on their system, itā€™s because we are fully booked, so unfortunately you will need to keep trying.

Like most things that are outsourced, itā€™s a right mess and nowhere near as good as the original arrangements. I too found out about a walk-in centre, reasonably local as I do drive. It was my daughter who advised that there are no notifications, you have to work out the six months plus one week yourself and then book in, or by the sound of it at least try to.

Nothing like being confused through complications is there,
as if people are not already anxious enough!

The website on which to book a covid booster is this one:

AND it seems you ā€œshouldā€ be able to book as long as itā€™s 182 days (six months) since your last covid vaccination.
Iā€™d be interested to know if anyone manages to book on that site.

Thatā€™s useful, thanks. I had no idea of how to go about booking and was about to investigate that process. The information on that website seems to give all the details required to book.

Good luck - I certainly hope it works. After the day Iā€™ve had today Iā€™m now convinced that Government ā€˜announcementsā€™ about Covid are not being prioritised. Deliberate or not? Itā€™s chaos and if there are new rules about boosters, the NHS hasnā€™t yet been informed! We really need to get rid of this government!

Well, I finally managed to book a booster Covid jab. On line, I must be getting cleverer at the net, :slightly_smiling_face: via the NHS web site. Good news, but the bad news is itā€™s at a certain football ground 12 miles away. Luckily my lovely Daughter said sheā€™ll drive me there. She knows how to get to it. The appy is for 6 th November & as itā€™s a Saturday she wont have to take any more time off work to take me. Problem solved.

When the government bods finally speak to the NHS and (IF) they get their act together, we should see vaccination centres offering Walk-In appointments.

Iā€™m booked in for Friday morning. I canā€™t remember when I had my second jab, but it doesnā€™t see like 6 months ago. But they got in touch with me to invite me to book a slot for the booster, so Iā€™m assuming their records show I am due. :102:

Probably China.

Ah that wonā€™t be until January then! thanks

I think that is a third primary so you must be deemed at risk.
