That is what you have been told to believe. I witnessed 1000’s of lightning bolts striking, some times for over an hour and nary a brush fire. These huge fires are man set. It was proven in the past that firefighters set them to keep their jobs. They you have the controlled burns that are not controlled at all. I have seen them burn down 1000’s of acres of S.C. to build Condo’s on.

Even if you haven’t…I just can’t stand anything on my legs. Whether that’s with being a postman or a runner all my life and just wearing shorts all the time.
Strange thing is…When I was 26 and before I was a runner, I was terribly self conscious about my legs. Never went anywhere without trousers on, even on hot summer days.
My first ever run up the lane was to cure a hangover and I wore tracky bottoms and walked up the road until I could see that there was no one up the lane.
Eventually as my runs got longer and I fancied doing my first half marathon, I realised that I would look out of place in jog bottoms so I wore my first pair of shorts…
From that day to this I never looked back, and couldn’t care less what anybody thinks about my skinny legs. I’m not wearing them to enhance my appearance, but because I love the freedom and to feel the air rushing past, especially while sprinting down the road. Which are fewer and slower these days…But still they happen…

What’s happened to the weather? Here in South Yorkshire we’re not getting any… 
Every day turns out to be the same, some cloud that dissipates around tea time, some windy interludes, no rain since April, and variable temperatures that vary between very warm and disgustingly hot. The humidity can be a pain in the buttocks when you go out walking and running…

I suspect that some of us ‘dahn sarf’ might be feeling a tad lethargic Foxy!

Despite all of this nonsense about global warming, these long hot summers might just be the exception to the rule Ripple. Stand by for a severe winter and rain for the next ten years…

But the temperature IS rising. The last significant snowfall was in 2009 and it lasted for a few days. I remember we had family over from the US and the boy enjoyed the sledge we had. Not since.

Being sensible now , the hull originally oak is being stripped and replaced with teak before being clad in oak , Windows renewed, it’s going to be amazing … Nelson would be impressed.

A couple of points Bes…2010 was a bad winter with snow, I know because it was my last year as a postman and I had to work in it. But here are a few cold winters since…
And Climate is an average taken over many years, perhaps 100, any shorter and it’s just variations of weather.
An extremely cold winter this year would negate the fact that the media claim it is the hottest.
Who wears short shorts? I remember 2010 Foxy, it was a dangerous time for folks on their feet.

Yes, I agree Mr Bob - it was a bad winter with lots of snow. Unusually so for that year. But scrolling back to the decades to my school age I and my friends got snow regularly. Now, in my dotage, snow here is infrequent and very light when it does.

I recall the summer of 1976 - it was exceptionally hot at 30C. Now :
“Yes, summer 2026 has been exceptionally hot in the UK, featuring record-breaking June temperatures, multiple heatwaves, and peaks reaching up to 35°C–37°C”

The sun is setting now, heading back south from setting at the peak of the house in June. I can see the reddish glow in the sky on the lower roof line now. The Donald wants this to happen at 6:15 forever instead if 7:15 in summer months. Think he is trying to create an excuse why 100,000’s of workers aren’t playing golf anymore in the late afternoons. Expense Donald. No one is paying their way. Their clubs are for sale in resale shops. $5

I remember playing golf in July 1988 wearing gym shorts. Then I bought longer ones later on but still wore the a couple pair of High Basketball sox for some years. When I changed to a golf Cart, I changed dressing to please the weather.

Surely if they do that it is no longer HMS Victory? Why not replace the wood with plastic and double glaze the windows?
