Everyone’s gone out coz its cooler, I was out for a couple of hours from 7.15am today, got to stay in now, waiting for the new washing machine to be delivered, could have picked it up myself in the van but, they wont let me in to the dump with the van to dispose of the old one so it cost £25.00 for Curry’s to take it away, can’t be doing with leaving it out the front on the off chance the Tat man comes past.

Finding the forum very slow this morning Spitty so I’m not hanging about…
The old freezer is still doing it’s best to keep the couple of bags of veg cool in the bottom, I’ll leave it on until the new one arrives tomorrow and I can get it up and running in the spare room.
I need to think how I’m going to get the old one out but I’ll probably dismantle it and dispose of it piece by piece. Being an ex engineer I like to see how things work, and occasionally I’ve actually found out why they stopped working…Which is a bit of sod once it’s in bits all over the garage floor.

Be careful you are not breaking the law with that Freezer unit. Only Licensed can do that maybe. Maybe the delivery can dispose of it for you with a small fee. It may end up recharged and sold as used.

Releasing the Freon may blind you and is very much against the law.
Most areas have used appliance drop sites for them rebuilders. Pressurized
gas in cooling devices is very dangerous. Some of those old had tubes of
Freon wrapped all over the back of them. I have a F150 and would haul yours
to a Used appliance center for you if i was there. My 2 wheeler an us could do it.

The new freezer arrived this morning, I was out on my morning walk so Mrs Fox took charge of the delivery.
It’s still in it’s cardboard box in the spare room so I’m just off to attack it with my stanley knife…
Whoopee ! Fish fingers and chips for tea…
According to the order detail, I made sure the delivery guys took the packaging off the new washing machine away with them, those large pieces of polystyrene are a pain to get rid of.

If you buy from John Lewis, they unwrap it, take the packaging away and the old freezer.
They are massive aren’t they with bits flying off everwhere Spitty. I think they wanted 25 quid to take off the packaging and take it away. I’m going out for a fish chip dinner on my savings.
There’s quite a bit of fitting to be done to fit the cupboard door and change round the hinges on the freezer door…I fell asleep on the sofa reading the instructions…
If you cut them with a straight edge and Carpet knife it will break into smaller pieces fairly easy
I once put together a hot wire using a big 25 volt transformer and adjustable current regulator.
It cut through polystyrene like a knife through butter…
Mrs Fox was adamant that it was to go unmolested into the plastic bag though Zac. I don’t argue with Mrs Fox… 
It turns out after we had removed the packaging I found that the freezer had a leg missing.
What a good leg should look like…
looks like it was set down to hard in shipment, but where is the screw?
So it was broken before boxing up or the box was changed. I’m positive
the Fridge has been dropped and is no good. A straighnt edge will show
bent parts. The back looks wrong to me. Not just the broke screw area but
the bottom 1 foot of the fridge. I see buckling left and right at the top of the one
picture. Call your salesman soon is a thought.

It’s been dropped OGF, look at the panel above the broken foot. Send it back, tell them you want a new one.

Thanks Zac and Bruce, after closer inspection I can see what both of you have seen and agree that there are clear signs that the freezer has been dropped on that corner. At first I thought it had just been dragged on one corner and ripped off the leg, but there are visible signs that the metal has been buckled and some components inside also may be damaged. I’ve just sent off an email detailing the damage and by return of post they are telling me that…due to high demand it may take up to three days for them to respond…That’s the last time I use AO.com for anything. I have used them before and they were very good, it seems like they’ve dropped the ball…

What rotten luck Foxy, I hope you don’t have to wait too long for a replacement.
That’s the answer to why they don’t unpackage in front of you! 
When we have electrical appliances delivered, the packaging is always removed and appliance is tried out to check that it’s functioning properly, before the delivery guys leave. They take away the old with an additional cost but leave us to dispose of the packaging. Nuisance! 
When I had a new washing machine delivered, it seemed to be working ok, but the day after I noticed a leak and immediately reported the malfunction, requesting a replacement. It took more than two weeks!

Take a bunch of Pictures of the Fridge to cover legal stuff, plus the packaging box and base it set on. I don’t care much for the plastic areas left and right. Seems sort of a junky design is a thought. My recommendation is change brands and get your money back from that one.
