Last ride on a bus was taking kids to school and back downtown to get on a different west bound bus, west to my work area. In all over an hour. Basically, an oval of over 20 miles to go 2 1/2 miles to work.
Buses don’t run in opposite directions.

News Just In
After a battery failure on this laptop major surgery was performed yesterday, and I’m happy to report the patient is doing well and believed to be up and about soon…
In other news…Apparently we had record breaking temperatures yesterday (all this global warming nonsense)…It did get unbearably warm, but hardly ‘record breaking’
Do they think that people don’t keep records…

22 degrees here today. The record temperature here is 29.8 degrees. Mind you we get more than our fair share of snow in the winter.

I saw on the news that the high temperatures are due to a more powerful than usual El Nino Scot, we might be in for a bad winter.
Just drove across town to the barbers and all the schools have closed at lunchtime due to the heat. A gang of about twenty kids have just run across the road in front of me, and another lad decided to run along the parapet of the railway bridge…

$15 for a small bag of Hershey Kisses with almonds.
Small steaks $20 + wrapped in plastic and tougher than glued leather belts.
A Blind man stopped me and pitched for $20. Said he will pay me back when he sees me.
Then his daughter wanted $8 to get her lil daughter a birthday present. "I’m not a ATM.
I wish my ATM worked like a Toilet Tissue Roll. Unfortunately, $20 don’t come that way.
I just thought of the $$Trump Bill gimmicks. The Donalds Skat paper!

I saw that on the news last night, about schools in the UK finishing at 12 o’clock because of the heat and not even the Changing of the Guard took place!. Wow, at this rate, you’re all going to have to change office times , shop opening hours and everything else, you’re becoming like us, down here in Southern Europe.

So today begins and it’s already in the high teens, 30º C as I set off briskly down the street trying to avoid all the wheelie bins and having to step onto the road avoiding death by inches…
I crossed the busy main road, a death defying maneuver at the best of times, even worse during the 7:30 am rush hour. I’ve sometimes had to wait for ten minutes before a break in the traffic appears.
I jog the next half mile to try and get the road bit over quickly and dive down Moor Lane. Traffic free and surrounded by overhanging trees and a haven of tranquillity and silence.
A short burst of speed sends me out into the sunshine and the canal towpath. A few dog walkers so I walk most of it, only getting onto my toes for the last half mile.
Back onto the main road and over the canal bridge to a handy little tarmaced section and a barrier to stop everyone except fisher persons (anglers) only one or two of those, regulars who wave as I pass by, I wave back and ascend the flood bank of the River Don and make my way under the railway bridge. The next two miles are deserted and enjoy the quiet and being alone with my thoughts, I adore this weather and tomorrow I will carry on to Bramwith Lock, but today I pass over the canal at Northfield Bridge, down the lane and back on to a minor road back to my village…A last sprint alongside the road until I reach the footpath.

The strange smell in the kitchen turned out to be the freezer that had been struggling in the heat.
As far as I can tell from my records the freezer was installed when the first kitchen was fitted and we moved from a free standing freezer to an integrated one in 1990… 36 years… 
Doesn’t owe me owt’ does it…
I have one that is over 40 years old though now it just sits on my verandah but still works, I use it when I defrost my newer one.

That’s brilliant Bruce, I’ve just ordered a new one and it’s coming on Monday. I hope it lasts as long as the last one, It’ll probably see me out…
I have a 33 year old Kenmore Refrigerator at our lake home, but it is used hard only when we are there, approximately 10 weeks a year. I had to replace the Water regulator and Ice cube maker 20 years ago. It failed to let water in. The Ice maker is shut off when we leave. Other then the freezer it usually doesn’t have much food in it while we are away.

We have a built in freezer in the kitchen and an upright one with a lid in the Conservatory, good to get that off my Chest!

I’d considered getting a small chest freezer as backup Spitty, but it might just be ‘knee jerk reaction’ after the undercounter integrated one packed up.
It can be annoying having to take stuff out to find what your looking for.
