Bit of a fright this morning

Hardly able to sit it got me at the top of my leg so sitting is sore :frowning: but I am determined not to let this get me down like the attack on Mollie did I am not creeping around any more if they don’t like it they can lump it. This is all their fault I refuse to take any bit of the blame - they tried to make it my fault last time !

Is that woman with the other dog home again, or have them kept her in?

I suspect there is more to this, and maybe they wouldn’t have carted her off if she had been more compliant. I wonder if she was already known to them?

When my heavily pregnant dog was attacked and the police got involved, they already knew of the bloke.

She is well known her last dog was a nightmare too, she trains them on a running machine so they are hugely muscled and fit. They arrested her about 10 years ago for dog fighting, she was banned from keeping dogs for a few years as soon as she could she got this dog we have had trouble with now. She is also well known to them for drug dealing, not just taking drugs she used to stand outside the school selling them.

Her husband has only recently come out of prison, he was in on drugs charges and had beaten someone almost to death.
They are not nice people IMO

I hate the way she treats her dogs they start of as sweet little puppies and in a few months they are so badly treated they are dangerous. He favourite method of telling the dog not to pull is use the metal chain lead to whack it along it’s back, and if it barks she takes 2 fingers and pokes it really hard in it’s side.

It’s not the dog’s fault it’s them and how they treat them.

I know when Mollie didn’t fight back she was scathing about my having a wuss and a baby who couldn’t defend herself. She doesn’t seem to understand I want wusses who are gentle with the family and everyone else, who can be trusted not to rip the throat out of another dog or kill a cat. I love my wusses !

I thought there was more to it, when you said she was arrested.
People like this MUST be banned for LIFE from keeping any animal, as well as heavily fined and a term in prison.
Trouble is, if they moved away, how would anyone in their new area know of any previous ban? They wouldn’t. So they can get another dog and start all over again.
If they are trained as fighting dogs, you were lucky your two (and yourself) are still here to tell the tale.

This is one of the reasons I thought having a dog owners licence was a good idea … That way people who were banned would have their licence removed and wouldnt be allowed to buy a dog.

Of course breeding would also have to be licenced and a lot of breeders didnt like that idea…

How are you all this morning, Julie, is little Betty coping?

Off to the vet with them this morning, he wants to check on Betty and I wan him to look at Elsie’s ear while we are there.

Betty is really off her food, I am getting a little in her by feeding her by hand but I think it’s the physical act of bending into her bowl that is hurting her, we balanced her bowl on a book to see if raising it helped but she just looked at me like nope no way am I trying that. I think it’s the stitches on her back she isn’t even trying to turn to nibble them it seems painful for her to bend at all. She is on pain killers and anti inflammatory tabs and antibiotics but I am wondering if she needs a higher dose. Will check with the vet as at 5lb she can never afford to lose too much weight before she looks very thin indeed.

Hope the visit to the vet goes well today, Julie.

How is your own wound? Any more news on the owner and the helping police with enquiries?

I’ll live thanks for asking though, it’s all gone very quiet the flat seems empty. There was a flurry of activity late last night lots of black bin bags of stuff taken to their car, but the curtains are closed this morning and silence within. The cars gone so I think he or both of them have gone. Haven’t actually seen her since her arrest.

Victim support are supposed to be contacting me today, not sure what they can do but will speak to them when they ring and see.

Things are looking hopeful - although Betty needs attention and I hope all goes well for her x

Poor little Betty - I do hope she has no serious internal injuries.

Such a terrible affair, I sincerely hope that Betty makes a full recovery very soon. Both the dogs and yourself must be traumatised. Often the shock effects don’t kick in until after the event. Best wishes to you all.

So sad to read of the continuing effects of this trauma on your canine friends. I hope it isn’t too long before they recover.

Elsie’s ear is doing well he says she will always have a small piece missing but it shouldn’t look too bad, and Betty is on stronger pain killers he says they may knock her out a bit but better that than she is too scared to move in case it hurts.

He gave her an injection while we were there which should help too and says if she doesn’t pick up in a day or two he can repeat that again.

He is a lovely man when we arrived he saw me drive into the car park and he was out the door lifting Betty out of the back of the car before I got the hand brake on - so gentle with her.

Smashing - makes things a little easier

Julie I am just reading this post, I am so sorry to hear of the pain and traumer your two beauties are going through.

It is awful to think that the owners are allowed to get away with this type of behaviour. It is a shame that something was only done once they saw that you had been bitten.

Sending you lots of love and give your two big hugs.

I agree about the vet. What a lovely gesture.

Just a quick update Betty slept solid all night, and is looking a lot better this morning, ate her breakfast and with a struggle had a wee, now asleep again, but the vet did say it might knock her out a bit.

Elsie is having a walk at the moment with Nate, they are walking along the tow path to let her meet some friendly dogs and he texted me a few minutes ago to say she is calming down nicely with dogs she knows, had a bit of a panic with a very big dog I think it might take her a while to settle down with dogs larger than her as she has always been a bit more nervous with big dogs anyway.

I am taking my leg to the GP as it looks a bit nasty - hot red and a bit of pus so I think I might need antibiotics or something.

Julie  I am pleased to hear the dogs are much better. When Chloe got bitten I was really shaken so have some idea of how you must have felt.

I guess you have been concentrating on the dogs and not bothering about your leg. Dogs mouths are full of bacteria, I would certainly get your leg checked.

Glad to hear Betty is doing well and Elsie is getting some confidence back. I hope your leg heals very soon.
