It is very odd that some would think that withholding sex is somehow respectable - I never understood what that was in my teens and I sure as hell don’t understand it now. I suspect it harks back to some socially constructed 50s ideal
Mature men love adventurous and sexually liberated women - and have the greatest respect for them.
Yes Baxter, I’m sure mature men do love sex. I know my mature man does :-D. I’m not into the young man/cougar type thing - although, each to their own. I’m sure some older women will love it. I just wouldn’t fancy being used as a “f*** buddy”.
This is true… because much as some wish to deny it… women like sex too.
I guess what rubs me wrong (no pun intended) is that women are portrayed as delicate flowers guarding the ultimate prize which is intended to be bestowed only on one very special deserving man… Prize? You have got to be kidding me… We are lead to believe our whole lives that there is somehow something gross about lady parts… Scrub them… Douch them with chemicals… don’t talk about them…have special doctors dedicated to examining, and fixing them…(most times unnecessarily) yet save them as a prize for a wonderful man? Funny isn’t it?
Off topic, but using chemicals can actually cause problems, e.g. bacterial vaginosis. (too much info :-D).
I don’t think there will be that many prized possessions nowadays for a special man. I don’t think it’s right being brought up to think that sex is dirty or your private parts are. It can lead to all sorts of guilt problems, resulting in vaginismus (sorry, too much info again), but a fact.
I guess that’s not the case anymore Audrey…certainly with our youngsters. I have heard some pretty explicit conversations (I hasten to add not sluts/prostitutes but stunning young girls) that would give many ladies curly hair. LOL
I’m sure… but sadly… we are of a different generation and things were much more restrictive… We were taught a whole bunch of weird things that the girls today do not have hanging around their necks.
Well from posts made after I left for work yesterday am I right you all think only people willing to have over their life time more than one partner enjoy sex ? Anyone wanting to remain faithful to their spouse if their spouse dies can’t possible have enjoyed sex ? perhaps it’s the other way round the sex was so damn good it can’t possibly be replicated so we are not even going to try
I’ll be nearly 70 before last child leaves home, if I have the energy to do anything but child rear I will be amazed anyway
That’s BS and you know it Julie… No one thinks people that have only had one partner don’t enjoy sex… What did put me off was the inferrence that somehow YOU are special and much more moral than others who have had more than one partner.
NOW… tell me WTF I was supposed to do at age 27 when my oh so handsome and wonder husband left me? Stay celibate and pining for the one who got away? Seriously?
OR what was I supposed to do at age 53 when my 2nd husband just up and died suddenly? I’m pretty healthy… that and family history tell me I may live another 30 years… SO… I would have been a much more moral person if I took to knitting and tending my petunias? Alone?
Give me a break… For all I know you and your hubby are at it day and night… and I don’t care… I’m just telling you that you come off “holier than thou”… that’s all. People face a whole lot of circumstances that YOU personally have not… I’m just asking that you don’t make statements about things of which you have no way of knowing.
Where have I said anyone should not have more than one relationship in their life all I have said is one has been enough for me then we went through the you don’t know what you would do if your husband died bit and quite honestly I do know I don’t need telling by anyone else.
I am not holier than thou just not supportive or condoning of promiscuity, something I had hoped as a society we may have grown out of by now but not so, still celibacy and virginity are something to laugh at.
I am allowed I thought to say what I would do if I was widowed, not saying anyone else should do the same.
