I agree. It’s a shame that they routinely work in opposition to what we do simply because they’re jealous of us and resent us, their cash cow, for leaving their control.
I read the article but I couldn’t find the name of the “senior EU diplomat” who said these things.
I always doubt quotes about anything from “unnamed sources” - it would be useful to know who made these comments.
Surely, you’re not suspecting the Express of exaggerating, are you?
Let’s just say I have a suspicious mind!
d00d, this bit:
The diplomat added: “Some in the EU complain that Britain is trying to bounce the EU into action too quickly.
“But if it had not been for that then we would be seeing the issue [Ukraine] discussed in endless committee meetings with no resolution. Too often that’s the EU way.”
Boot I agree with you, but it was what was said that I agreed with, not so much of who it was. It could have been the road sweeper I would have still agreed with it.
Why not, JBR?
It’'s always a bit odd if the name of a diplomat or politician is not mentioned all the more so if what he said is in no way so controversial that the name should rather be omitted so as to protect him. After all, what he said is what the majority thinks anyway. Why the secrecy?
And what is also strange is when for any one statement there’s one source only. When it’s important stuff such a statement is referred to by a number of other sources/media, too. That missing it could well be the opinion of the newspaper only.
I agree with @Boot .
Never!
It was an appalling decision and we should never accept it.
Every democratic decision can be reversed democratically and we have every right to express our opinion
At times like these, we should be working to together with our closest neighbours
It’s about life threatening situations, not a competition.
So not a time for childish, nationalistic boasting about being more ‘nimble’
It’s rather sad that the “nimble” UK didn’t show any of this mythical nimbleness during the five years it took to negotiate its exit from the EU.
If recent history is anything to go by this story is a beat up on a slow news day,
Blame Theresa May for that and the rest of the MP’s who were trying to overturn the referendum result and of course the big bully Jon Bercow.
Never!
It was an appalling decision and we should never accept it.
What are you going to do about it?
I can’t imagine that there will ever be another Brexit referendum and even if there were I’m absolutely sure that even fewer will vote to rejoin the EU, especially regarding their behaviour since we left!
So not a time for childish, nationalistic boasting about being more ‘nimble’
But it’s absolutely true, simply because we have one government to make decisions whereas the EU have a couple of dozen who need to agree with each other and even then any decisions must be considered by the dictators in Brussels!
Never been glad about change for change sake, as far as the EU is concerned, the game ain’t over yet.
Bruce I would love to visit Australia even emigrated when I was younger.
If I had one grip about Australians and that is the Australian men come over here and snag our beautiful women marry them and take them back home.
Makes me wonder what the Australian women are doing by not keeping their men for themselves. Even My cousin married an Australian guy
Life is full of Snags RS, we just need to move on.
I’m very pleased with Boris and his attitude towards Ukraine.
He has a lot of faults but, when the chips are down, there he is.
Once again, The EU seem to have no idea, except to rely on Macron!
nuff said!
Following on from my previous:-
Would you, really, want to be a Member of a Group run by Macron?
Will he be an u8nbiassed Leader in that roll?
Would he treat us with the same respect as he does the others?

I think he’s a very dangerous idiot, using the war to try to regain some popularity with his hung his support, instead of thinking it through and being democratic
He’s making the U.K. a target to enhance his personal reputation and doesn’t care about Ukraine or if he inflames the situations as long as he makes himself look good
It’s dangerous self serving buffoons like him that cause wars and I’d feel a lot safer and our country far more respected if we had someone like Macron as leader

I thought you were writing about Macron there until I got to the end of the sentence. As far as I’m concerned, Macron is a self-serving
Our economy is dropping like a stone i course I am not glad we left the EU .
