Anyone know the new infection statistics of coronavirus?

Yes that’s the one I’ve been using Baz, but last week they started including all the care home stats and it was no use trying to use it as a comparator anymore…:frowning:

I’m with you now, not comparing like with like. Apparently there are a lot of variations in how different countries compile their figures, I guess that makes a vast difference when making comparisons. :frowning:

Thats the link lm using now as well Baz! Looks like we had a
setback today?
Abouttime they closed ALL the airports?

Donkeyman!

I think you still can.

Think some countries are telling fibs.

Two statistic’s I find of interest on the link

Deaths per Million we are about 6th

The % of deaths per Country.

UK has a 15% death rate.

I have put this up before but…

If you want another statistical site to compare figure here are the figures from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering at John Hopkins University in the USA:

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

They are similar but not the same as the other site

Bloody hell galty!
WTF is happening?
Think your right about the fibs!!

Donkeyman!

Have no Idea

scroll down to the bottom of below link.

I think l must be developing dementia galty!
I’m more confused than ever!!

Donkeyman!

Thanks for the link Galty…:023:
According to those figures for the UK The most infections were registered in:-

(1) Kent - 3544

(2) Lancashire - 2962

(3) Birmingham - 2954

(4) Hampshire - 2915

(5) Essex - 2699

(6) Surrey - 2647

(7) Hertfordshire - 2411

(8) Sheffield - 2248

(9) Cumbria - 2007

(10) Staffordshire - 1843

Interesting to note that Kent was the highest after watching the youtube clip with Nigel Farage. Also Essex was among one of the highest, could immigrants be either landing there or dispersing there too.

Sheffield was recorded as having 2248 cases, whereas Rotherham [Which is virtually the same city and closely joined] was only recorded as having 761 cases…:017:

Lancashire is number two on the list, however, with several cities and large towns within its bounds the population is high.

Have to agree the information seems hidden, deliberately too I believe.

Hopefully to guise a falling rate, with scaremongering to prevent the public ignoring lockdown rules, and prevent a sudden rise of infections again.

I read results of research carried in Germany, has proven what many are/have been saying. That there are many more infections than the calculated numbers given by WHO, and governments.

Their calculations show There are/were 10 times more infections in Germany than what has been recorded.

They also calculated the number of UK infections is closer to 8,000,000

Could they be right, well they did/are carry out extensive testing, which could mean why they have such a low death rate compared to a high infection number.

A thought from over the pond.

True or not.

Interesting.

Quite possible Galty, I would imagine that large gatherings of people in still air; sporting events, theatres, cinemas, and public transport are probably responsible for the main spread of the virus, and travelling in cars and walking on foot or cycling outdoors would introduce either no risk or very limited exposure to the virus.

It has also been mooted that limiting the amount of exposure to the virus is strongly related to the outcome. i.e. in a crowded situation contact with more than one carrier would increase the mortality rate substantially as opposed to just a single contact for limited time.

No lifting of large gatherings like Football matches should not happen

But I’m banned to go to my local park because they locked the gates.

Banned from going to walk on Southend Beach because they blocked the road.

Arrested for driving down the road if I have no excuse for doing so.

America in parts are lifting it.

Florida.

Beaches opened still have to be 6 foot apart.

Georgia

Small firms are open like Hair Saloons.

But the BEST

Las Vegas…

Saw this on Fox 5

Casinos to reopen with tight restrictions.

6 at the crap tables 4 at the blackjack and poker tables.

6 foot between drinkers at the bars.

6 foot between slots.

And a big push to have smoking banned in the casino

Restaurants tables to be 6 foot apart and no more than 5 diners at any one table.

Hand sanitisers installed.

It seems the uk has been marking time since early april with
new cases hovering around the 6000 per day on average when it
should be falling consistently if we are to ever reduce to zero
eventually? We areNOT performing well at all!!
I question the policy ( if l can call it that ) of allowing apparently
10,000 passenger flights into heathrow on a daily basis with no
visible restrictions on these passengers?
It is not good enough to rely on the good sense of these passengers
to apply restrictions to themselves! After all a large proportion of
them put themselves in the position of having to travel at this time??
And to add to this they opened Luton airport which serves europe
at the beginning of this week?
Surely this is a good time to test if the new cases rate would fall
if all incomers to uk were either isolated or denied access for
just one week to prove if this is the case?
The illegal immigrant problem also needs looking at as it appears
that border force assisted 500 to land here recently and we can assume that at least double that actually made it across!
We need a much more robust policy to be applied?

Donkeyman!

Good news and bad news today!
Good news first, statistics today have improved for uk slightly with
less hospital beds being occupied, less deaths reported, and less
new infections reported!!
Now the had news, it was a busy 3 days in the english channel with
border force removing nearly 200 illegals from the water and then
puting them into the detention centres that have just been emptied
by releasing the existing tenants into the community??
And also it seems air travellers can continue to enter uk without any
restrictions untill the end of the month??

Donkeyman!

A couple of good posts Donkeyman, it seems that only us on this forum care about what is happening to this country.
Twitter is alive with activity echoing what we are saying on here.

Perhaps someone could enlighten me on a niggling little point; If we are performing up to 100,000 tests per day, where are all these people being tested coming from? I thought that those being tested were just ‘Key Workers’ if that’s so, are they testing the same 100,000 people each day, and do people volunteer to be tested, so where are the queues of people waiting to be tested? and what happens if they can’t get 100,000 people to turn up for the test?

They have conducted 25k tests per Million people that leaves 975.000 per million to be tested.

Mulitply that by 60

A hell of a lot of people have not been tested.

PS the only country with a lower test rate is France.

On the subject of statistics we are being informed about, the Andrew Marr show this morning had a professor in statistics explaining these. This seemed quite informative and with statistics nothing like those we are being ‘fed’ on a the daily Coronavirus Update TV programme.

Perhaps worth a watch as an alternative view on what is happening? Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter’s comments on statistics are about 47 minutes into the programme:

“Andrew Marr is joined by Jonathan Ashworth MP, Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter, Professor Peter Horby, Steve Parish, Prue Leith, Robert Harris. With news review by Jo Coburn and Fraser Nelson.”

I watched this and thought he was brilliant. He should be allowed his own programme on any terrestrial channel to explain just exactly what the risk levels are for the different age groups in the UK (e.g. up to 15yrs old - I think he said the death risk was 2 in 15,000,000; up to 25yrs or so about 1 in 1,000,000 and, at 90 or 95 or older 1 in 100 or 1%). A daily chart giving THESE numbers would be better than the charts they show now at the daily briefing.

On the daily number of tests OGF, Maybe that is why we dont allways
reach the 100,000 mark, because not enough people show up
to be tested??
I think you may be right that they are testing the same people more
than once as oncethey have been tested it is still possible for them
to become infected later isnt it?
Anyway lets see what Boris has to say tonight!
