Angry driver v Bike

So the cyclist was the victim of thuggish behaviour by a yob with a killing machine, who failed to read the road ahead & put other’s life in danger, all because he was too ignorant to behave in a socially acceptable manner.

I used to be involved with driver assessment & training & I would personally have strongly recommended that the companies I work for, not employ the driver shown in any role that involved driving. He is a big insurance risk & a massive danger to corporate reputation.

If the driver shown does not kill someone. Then it will due to luck, not reasonable driving.

I forgot to mention the point that if the car driver had waited for approximately 2 seconds, the cyclist would, in all probability (unless he’s a complete twonk) have moved out of the way for mutual benefit.

I agree … the driver really couldn’t give a wider berth when overtaking as there was a row of parked cars , as there usually is on streets like this… so the cyclist was in the middle because there was also cars parked alongside his side.

He could have just reported it and gone on his way but he didn’t. He came over as the kinds of smart ass pedantic guy who gets up everyone’s nose and chases down the accused. .
And was it me but when he raced away at the end and left the driver running after him wasn’t he whizzing along the pavement?

Pair of prats but the car driver wins the prize for the foulest mouth and the most eloquent gymnastic floor exercises.
I would love to know whether it was reported to the police and what came of it.

Exactly right, a cyclist doesn’t hold up traffic, it is the traffic. Personally I have never been held up for more than a few seconds by a cyclist, I don’t understand the rage they induce.

The NSW RTA here recommend cyclists stay 1 metre from the kerb and a door width from parked cars, the NSW Parliament also passed laws making an overtaking vehicle allow at least one metre when overtaking a bicycle at 60kph or 1.5m over that speed. Cars are allowed to cross double lines to give that clearance.

Don’t want to watch the video back but, I don’t think the cyclist used the “C” word once, forget the idiot car driver, and the self righteous cyclist, who used the less profanities.

I’m not sure he even swore Spitty … he was concentrating on showing the other guy up … and did.

Had the car driver been zooming along at fifty miles per hour I would have agreed that if he couldn’t give the cyclist at least one metre of room then he should not have tried to overtake him.
However, the speed of the car would have probably been less than 20 mph in such a congested back street and overtaking would have been quite safe. No excuse for the drivers temper though!

I have been trying to work out the car passengers stance on this exchange.

Knew the disposition of the driver and wisely kept quiet ?

I decided it was his son, and was mortally embarrassed by the whole thing. He was secretly relived when his father fell over trying to kick the bike :joy:

Its been on Youtube for six years now, should this be inflicted on a persons son?
Was it worth it.

Could have just said Sorry, I was a bit close.

Nobody says sorry anymore though. Its always blaming and demanding respect.

I do, there are some very angry people out there, and not for substantial reasons.

Yes this clip is old, and its not the only one filmed by the cyclist, apparently to wind up motorist cyclist would ride close to the centre of the road not allowing cars to pass…

Camera set in reverse, they hoped to catch an irate driver tooting his horn, flashing his lights, shaking his fists swearing out window, and hopefully reviving up as a threat .

Then a cool calm cyclist would argue with the irate motorist who had been trying to get past for 20 minutes or so

Then the cyclist would post the clip with every one commentating how nasty the driver was and dangerous

People lost their jobs with families ridiculed

Yes the reaction was nasty but that’s the idea it’s a big laugh

Are you serious?

So I was told… seems sad I know, and 20 minutes I would question, I know quite a few who would end the argument a lot quicker than that.

I didn’t even know this went on…one guy has supposedly done 1000 clips of irate and bad motorists.

Am sure we all know the old joke about the woman driver who had never been in a car accident but who had seen plenty in her rear view mirror😉

The Police here are thinking of on the spot fines for bad driving

I think they’re being a bit sexist

Personally, I’d like to see the police confiscate bikes from cyclists who don’t wear appropriate clothing, don’t have appropriate lighting and who flagrantly disregard traffic lights.
