Angry driver v Bike

The cyclist was probably thinking how he could provoke the car driver to increase his popularity on youtube @marciniak

Yes it wouldn’t be the first time

WOW… :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Totally with the cyclists in both cases. I did chuckle when the guy went flying after trying to kick the bike :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

People just haven’t got any tolerance anymore…

Cyclists v Motorist… both are never wrong

I don’t agree with the woman cyclist tearing off the wing mirror on the van, but those van guys were horrendous to her! Also the guy in the car…gosh, potty mouth or what? Bike guy in that video was polite enough :woman_shrugging:

With that girl… that was terrible.

I have to say, I thought they were both pretty obnoxious

The car driver was worse of course, because there’s never any excuse for violence and he did overtake far too close, fast and dangerous, but the cyclist was a pain and his attitude really a wind up and patronising.

I didn’t quite understand, did he cycle after the car driver to have a pop at him?

The cyclist did seemed well geared up for videoing and reporting motorists but I can see that if you constantly get cut up by dangerous drivers, you’d get fed up with it and want a bit of revenge.

I think he might have done that after he noticed the guy wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. I agree the cyclist was a bit pompous, but given that he has front AND back facing cameras, it would seem he might have had trouble before, so felt it necessary to record everything that happens on the road.

Apparently there’s a lot of that darn sarf @Maree we are a lot more polite and tolerant in Yorkshire…
:fu:
That’s about as bad as it gets here… :sunglasses:

Yes, it’s just that if he deliberately followed the driver to start an argument, with his cameras at the ready it makes me wonder if he’s made it his mission to shame dangerous drivers

Like you say, he probably has good cause, some drivers do treat cyclists in a very dangerous way on the roads

It would be interesting to know if the cyclist has posted more of these type of incidents anywhere.

None of which excuses this driver of course

Your post is fair both were wrong with their attitude… But we can’t see how close the car was to the cyclist, the road is obviously wide enough to allow a car to overtake a cyclist safely… Was the cyclist annoyingly riding in the middle of the road ? Did the motorist deliberately drive close to the cyclist to annoy him ? WE Don’t know

Yes the cyclists did chase him… Yes both had a go at each other…

Who was at fault for starting the argument… I can only guess

And the above is what makes the difference between a competent, safe driver & someone like you. A safe competent driver assesses & allows for the unexpected. A safe driver knows the risks can not always be seen & drives accordingly.

The arrogance of some “professional” drivers can be astounding at times.

Does anyone know for a fact that the car driver in the op’s video isn’t, in fact, a “professional” driver with all of the qualifications and years of experience that our resident “expert” claims to have?

That bit you pulled up from my post is only of reference to what is available to see in the film clip and nothing else.

“but what we can’t see or know, we can only surmise”

Ever heard of courtesy, pulling in allowing vehicles to pass. Did you notice when the cyclist caught the driver, and shouted…you couldn’t get any closer.

The driver irately replied you should have pulled in,not ride in the middle of the road…the cyclist replied does it say I have to in the highway code…… To me implies the cyclist was being an arse looking to have a go at someone……Picked the wrong guy didn’t he.

Now you being a much more competent driver than me, what about the cyclist riding through the box junction… Double broken white lines, you should stop if they’re at box junction… okay I’m sure you’ll say it wasn’t a box junction, so no need to stop, only slow down and the precede with caution.

Well if that the case the cyclist didn’t…. In fact he nearly hit a pedestrian,( girl ) he swerved around her with another cyclist approaching…what if a car were passing….

But with your knowledge you didn’t notice any of that, or regarded that manoeuvre as safe……

I bet any accidents or mishaps you been involved in, were someone else’s fault …

All vehicles should allow a gap of 1m between themselves and any others parked at the side of the road when passing them. That would explain why the cyclist was “in the middle of the road”. The car driver should have waited a few seconds until the cyclist had passed the parked cars before attempting to pass.

I agree both parties are not innocent…But even a metre would still allow a car to pass safely, it’s a normal road…if you couldn’t overtake a bike with no on coming traffic here, the city centres be gridlocked with cars stuck behind cyclists

This situation should never have happened…thats my opinion

A cyclist is a small vehicle, that needs as much room as a small car. The cyclist had nowhere to pull over safely & allow the car past. The car forced his way past putting the cyclist & others at risk. The overtake was dangerous & a perfect demonstration of why some people REALLY need to lose their driving licences.

I agree that at the moment of overtaking, the cyclist had nowhere to go. Immediately afterwards, his front camera shows that he could have moved over afterwards.

I have often thoughts that car drivers ought to ride bikes as part of their learning/lessons, so they get a sense of empathy.

IMHO, the cyclist was wrong to pursue the car driver and engage and antagonize in a case of mutual road rage.
